  • type "talk talk athens" you'll find great live performance of this song

  • The next time someone tries to convince me "I Was Meant For You", "Bye Bye Ms American Pie" or worst of all "Bad Day" are legit songs for someone in a low mood, I'm gonna say 'son, have a seat and listen to this. It's called Tomorrow Started by Talk Talk. You're tune's a trip around the park compared to this.' They'll listen and be moved to tears and I'll pat them on the back consolingly and say, 'you can't say I didn't warn you, buckshot.'

  • Talk Talk are unquestionably one of the Best bands ever to come out of the UK. They evolved from the synth pop of the early 80's into one of the most innovative bands there has eve been, producing songs like this one that leaves you staring misty eyed into your mug wondering what the fuck life is all about. It is unlikely that there will ever be another band to equal them, not in my lifetime anyway. They were simply that good.

  • Amazing song! Meaning anyone?

  • Comment removed

  • Radiohead have wet dreams where they are this good.

  • The eighties was my primetime in music and life.Born in 60 i have no perception or understanding of the dross served up today. My kids listen to lots of the pure quality that was my staple diet in this period, and these guys are right at the pinnacle.Only my opinion but this band is was light years ahead of time and as live bands go they are unsurpassed.

  • @fleszr

You're right and I agree with you. Music today, well, it's noise and it's certainly not music.

  • Brilliant

  • Sure Gobble, they just got it done.Hollis is on par with the greatest.

  • timeless!!!! and i know this is what they were aiming to....

  • 4 dislikes,, well I guess there's no hope for some people!

  • @TheVaughan5

Yeah, their typing skills are so bad they were probably trying to get Lady Gaga and didn't know what to make of this when it showed up instead.

TT, my all time favorite!!

  • Diff. before there time

  • Fantastic music they've made. Wonder what they're doing todays.

  • I like all of the songs on the album, but this one always strike me strongly and is the strongest song. This band is seriously underrated.

  • This song is my soul!

  • @noraslina4884

Hey ... i was in the other song "life what you...." ...then ..i heard this thing.. my good Lord.. it is something beyond words... ..... it is really really so deep stuff... ... gotta shoot a short movie -or something for it ... if i shoot it .. i will post it here .. it is drilling my soul... ....

  • @sutruh agree.let me know if you post it dear!

  • Too bad the dickheads that run commercial radio don't play quality music like Talk Talk instead of never ending repeats of banal crap like Elton John etc. They obviously think we are all moronic out there, just like them!! Thanks to BBC radio 2 the only station here that shows any imagination and better taste.

  • @revilo62 du hast Recht!

  • It's hard to find an artist these days that can produce more than two songs on one album or CD and then fill the rest of the CD with utter crap.

Every song on this album is it's own hit and what's more each time they have been able to convey pure emotion with vocals and musical score.

Of all of the bands that came out of the 80's, this is my number one album, with U2 close behind.

If an album were to be defined as evoking emotion, this would be my first pick without doubt.

  • @Kronin70 too right . i saw t-t on skyarts recently ,from the montreux jazz festival 1986 i think, 2hrs of brilliance not a duffer in all that time ... cheers

  • Oh god yes, i agree...this song is like being french kissed slowly by a beautiful girl!!!

  • this song is sad but cool

  • Sitting beside the epic Raphael,,Ingres,& Durer.

  • its funny always when i listen to TalkTalk (especially this song) i think how 80's it is, but on the other end its also timeless. ill never stop loving this music.

  • It's just tomorrow started great song hugs shari

  • the thing i love about Talk Talk is their songs are low-key but still so epic. kind of a silent shout.

  • What an amazing song!Like all of this album.

    Greetings from Thessaloniki,Greece.

  • gewoon een vet nummer

  • this song is like being french kissed slowly ;)

  • There is such a brooding power here.

  • sounds interesting ... it showcases a band, but I always liked it ... and the singer's voice is phenomenal straight / running through the cold on my back when I hear (something similar feeling, but who likes to know exactly what I'm talking about!) ...,! Andrea, I was

  • Fantastic!! I love Talk Talk!! Time for a comeback...the world needs you!!....perhaps we can mitigate the cancer of Christina Aguilera and other out generic robots that are pooping out bland fast food for the mind and soul.

  • bellissima!!!

  • Fuck me, talk talk are amazing and so unique

  • @GobbleMyNobble es verdad----!!!!! :D

  • does anyone know whats happened to the guys in this band? they were unreal, shoiuldve bin up there with u2, duran duran, and any other good band of their time.

  • Song is too beautiful. Was putting together a new dresser for my little girl when this song came through my earphones. My work pace slowed down and I sang my heart out, had shed tears before the end. Wish I knew what the lyrics meant.

  • wonderful !

  • I try not to think of Mark's retirement from music as a betrayal. It just seems that the world has been denied something that should still be there. It's just bitterness, I guess, about not hearing new stuff from Mr Hollis. Well, thanks for what you did give us, Mark. You and Talk Talk were always unique; you couldn't say Talk Talk are like...whoever...because there just wasn't anything to be compared with.

  • I'm 30 - My mum introduced my to Talk, Talk via her playing their album full blast early evenings, I used to study and find myself getting into the tunes, so I nicked her tape and used to fall asleep esp to this track. At such a young age, this music really touched me, and now at 30, I am remembering and appreciating how timeless this band really are!!!! This song is EPIC!

  • Sheer class will always shine out like a beacon. No matter what era it comes from. Sometimes you have to do a little digging to find it and then, mmhh sublime!!

  • I met Mark Hollis after a Talk Talk concert in 82 and asked him what he thought of David Bowie---he replied " he'll never be as good as me " well right or wrong i gotta give the bloke credit for what he said,i hope he's found a way to keep the demons in his head at bay,I think this is one of my all time favourite songs, very haunting

  • great song... I love talk talk hugszzz shari

  • Such a unique voice you won't find in music nowadays.

    Mark Hollis = Pure Genius

  • Wat een herinneringen komen er boven bij het luisteren van deze muziek!

Die stem gaat dwars door mijn ziel!

  • mooi nummer ik heb hem op lp

  • @lotreamon01

thx for your comment, i feel the same, a special place in my heart, my life, my memory, breakable sheet music for a breakable soul

  • I have to admit that I really thought the line went "I'm just the bus that you take" rather than "I'm just the first that you take". Actually, I guess that, in a way, the bus line works just as well given the meaning and tone of the song. I almost like it better.

  • thank you colour of spring for uploading and reminding me of what an incredible band they were. so far ahead of their time, brings back so many memories from my dim and distant youth, it seems a bit of a cliche looking at all the comments on here but MARK you really do need to make some music again for your deprived fans, but i realise its not as simple as that, still, such a waste :(

  • Beautifully haunted by timeless music.

  • My sister cannot listen to this song , she has to cry everytime she hears it....

I see her point... this song is so painfully beautiful , This "crying" sound of the guitar/synth./whatever it is it cuts through my soul everytime... lyrical? me?...naaah...

  • <3 LOVE MY LOVE <3

  • sound like they produce it today, fat sound, realy googdmusic

  • it's simply amazing song love it

  • Talk Talk forever!

  • I know they're 80s synths, but the intro to this song is absolutely breathtaking.

  • @wrs6565 Nothing wrong with 80s synths. Actually even during the 80s the synth sound changed quite alot. 84 music has a particularly nice sound often for me.

  • hermoso tema talk talk un depredador sempiterno

  • What an incredible song! You just can't say enough about this amazing song. It literally takes you to another dimension. This is what you call TIMELESS MUSIC. No matter if you listen to it now or 100 years from now, it will still have the same dramatic effect. It has only been 20 or so years since Talk Talk stopped producing music, and it isn't too late for them to come out of "retirement" to tour the world ONE LAST TIME. We would fill the stadiums to see them.

  • great band i have see them 3 times live IN THE 80s

  • @lucinjolo lucky boy! How did they rank live in your own opinion compared with other bands you've seen , if it is indeed possible to compare?

  • @slaphaddalztick the different was, bihond the sound en lirycs thy playd with hart en soul en for schor marc hollis gr. lucinjolo

  • @lucinjolo yes, their music came from the heart. Thanks for the reply!

  • LOVE IT!!

  • q rica esta cancion

  • talk talk forever NOWA RUDA

  • Grande, grandissimi Talk Talk! Mark David Hollis un genio assoluto

  • @2DAREIS2TO74. i beleive mark hollis has retired from music all together ahd he lives in the south of england. you could go to mark hollis on wiki and also log in mark hollis/talk talk on facebook.

  • mmmm.....niente male!

  • quando ero militare e la sera mi mettevo in branda mi isolavo da tutto il resto ascoltando questa musica e ora riascoltandola mi porta a quei momenti di spensieratezza. 6°87

  • nummie nummie nummie !!!!! Thank you Bill Gates.

  • its about time mark hollis/talk talk were in the music hall of fame.

  • @marty9040 i totally agree, where are they now tho? i would sell a kidney or something to see theses guys live. never had the chance.

  • chicken poxs alloverrr...... the best song!

Thanx Talk Talk for your great music!!

  • oh for fuck sake! They are musicians and poets. Simple! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • @revilo62

    Da stimme ich absolut zu!!!

  • @revilo62 As you say in Germany 'Wunderbar!'

  • sick as post punk bass guiding the situation. Very expansive and carves out a new spot in college rock in 1984, as well as carrying on the roxy music theatric mood rock (though not all roxy music sounds like this, i mean "Avalon" type)

  • roxy music ..Avalon??? Are you takin the piss mate?

  • its not mark's sound all alone you're hearing and loving, paul's bass and lee's drums does the hypnotising too in all the talktalk's, check out the .o.rang, a projekt running on cd since 1994 and got it's paul and lee style, last to name rustin man(paul webb) with beth gibbons, or are you all sleepin' ?

  • Un tema precioso que había olvidado, impresiona la dulzura y la contundencia de la expresión musical de Talk Talk.

  • shall I commit suicide now or later, depends, let's put it to a vote

  • why dont you click around on a few of colour of springs links and have a listen, fancy topping yourself? Time its Time? I don't believe in you?

give it up? put this one in the context of the CD( album)

  • 2 b n 4 u tragedy....

  • Give it up is a great song. I mean you....GOTTA GIVE IT UP for give it up!

  • what exactly does it depend on?

  • This song is just simply so fucking beautiful words cannot do it justice.

  • one of the most amazing bands of all time, stunning melodies, so spiritual somebody gave me talk talk cassette back in 1991 and i was truly astonished, listening to this makes me feel 21 again (WHERE THE FUCK DOES TIME GO??)

  • I can't believe it! I just bought this Disc again..This is like the third one I've bought since 1985. Iwould love to have this on disc as the live in Rotterdam performance was given...TRUE BRILLIANCE HERE!

  • just reading down on the comments , i am so glad that this band can still impress so many people , i am so lucky to say that this band has been my fav band since 1985 and i have had the pleasure in seeing them live , it would be great if they could tour again .. one of the few bands that you can still admire for there creative talents that i never tire of listening to . pure heaven in music

  • Es la canción mas triste que he escuchado nunca.

  • i agree with the last comment!!

  • I'm updating my comments because I believe that Talk Talk should do one final world tour. Their music is timeless. Talk Talk has dedicated fans across the globe and they would receive overwhelming support. WE WANT TALK TALK to tour again. And this time, sweep through America! The music is absolutely awesome and millions of fans support that fact. We need to summon Talk Talk to come back and tour once more. It will be the TOUR OF THE CENTURY! Come back Talk Talk, WE WANT YOU!!!

  • True.Because of venues like the Tube (and others) so many new fans have Talk Talk made in retrospect for neophytes discovering them, their initial fanbase had to have increased eight-fold!--IT BEHOOVES THEM TO COME BACK!

  • Some Ensembles have the "genius" to know when to "call it good" speak in defense of Talk talk here. This song in particular is a MASTERPIECE of music. IMO it would be pointless to take away or give anything more to it.Look at the STONES,Music mediocre now and looking like corpses! They should call it quits! before embarrassment sets in. Mark Hollis and this band did the RIGHT THING,we should all just enjoy this cut and other "moving music" by this group as things (were) & now are..just my .02!

  • For certain, its difficult to imagine any other band or artist covering this.Who really can pour the amount of passion and soul that Hollis empties into this song in sheer incandescent rivulets!?

  • I absolutely agree about Hollis' passion he dispenses into this cut...Just have a view of him performing this live in Rotterdam...The old cliche stands!,.." A picture is worth a thousand words"....Needless to say,..only one word explains it there,...."PASSION"! The emotion ,for what he (in particular) and the rest of his band mates are displaying.

  • What songs do you know of..... keep and hold your attention..... like this song? Mesmerizing is THE word.

  • Another great song . . .

    this voice is so impressive

    i like it . . .

  • Since the mid-80's, Talk Talk has been one of the memorable groups that have survived the test of time. While songs like "It's my life" had more air play and higher chart rankings, other songs like "Renee" , "Tomorrow Started", and "Such a Shame" were the songs that seemed to stand out in our minds the most. These are classic songs that will someday resurface as "remakes" and this time, hopefully, will receive greater international status. Talk Talk presented us with timeless music in song.

  • You are so right !!!!!!

  • Mesmerizing.

  • Don't look back until you've tried A line so openly a lie 'Outside of you, it's just tomorrow starting'...

  • "Nur Gott mag wissen, aus welchen Archiven dieses wunderwerk geborgen Wurde"

  • I keep thinking that Mark Hollis is singing, "I'm just the bus that everybody takes." =X

  • If there is something more beautiful than this, let it stick in my heart!

    Five fire ball stars******. Amazing!!!

  • I so agree with you ... this is heavenly music

  • what a song writer hollis was, absolute genius

  • WOW, after 25 years they still emotionally warms me!!!!

  • cool as music, one reason why the 80s rocked!

  • I used to have and love that album. The only problem is I am not sure I understand the lyrics. Some of them are hard to understand for a non-native speaker.

  • don't worry mate, even for an English speaker, I always struggled to understand half of what he sang...and made up my own lyrics. hahahaha

  • OK :D But I guess basically their lyrics tend to be a bit melancholic...

  • Search for the lyrics on the internet, I always do that with songs I love, I want to know what it is about. :)

  • Sure, but sometimes I don't understand the lyrics even if I have them in front of me, as is the case with this song. All I can "sense" there is doubt.

  • as a french speaker i agree with you

  • so...beautiful...I was a big fan while at university in the 1980s. Good to see that there are so many fans around the world.

  • At last i've found this song!!!!

    Thanks ;)

  • I was SO lucky to find this ON VINYL in a music store I didn't think would have anything like this!!! :c) The cashier then said,"yeah, people dropped off some REALLY good stuff this week."

I LOVE this album. Talk Talk is so underappreciated. When I was 13, I thought it was just "Talk Talk" and "It's My Life". NOPE! there's more!!!

probably one of the only bands that emotionally warms me. The only one, in fact.

  • men where is talk talk ?

  • one of the three best bands ever :-)

  • Lovely song.

  • a masterpiece....where is Mark Hollis gone ???

  • a brilliant song

  • Shivers down my spine.... After all these years, when i hear this song...shivers down my spine... what a beautiful song...

    Thank You ColourOfSpring...

  • Masterpeice!

  • When I hear this song it makes me thing of 'Threads', that BBC film about nuclear war.

I love the song though :)

  • I have been wanting to see that movie threads for a long time now. does anyone know where I can find it?

Also what painting are the pieces from the puzzle in the picture from?

  • The painting is The Boyhood of Raleigh by John Everett Millais. Btw, this is my favourite Talk Talk song. I can't tell you where it takes me. Wonderful stuff!

  • essa musica e um tesãaaao

  • brilliant track, just listen n take it in magic

  • Shivers..... this song feels like ..cold, dark, water.

  • 3:49-4:16 I love that piano in the background. Superb track. Thanks a million ColourOfSpring.

  • Anyone have the MP3 of this for me :)

  • Talk Talk siete grandi!!!

  • Troppo bello questo pezzo. Che malinconia. Grandi Talk Talk sempre apprezzati.

  • Thanks for letting me dream and just glide away into this other world. This music is like a drug with a beautiful side affect. 80's forever!

  • Adoro questa canzone...Mi fa piangere perchè è molto malinconica!!!

  • This song is painfully beautiful, poetry set to music, and hauntingly honest in the depths of anyone's sole who is willing to open up and let the void of a lonely moment reflect these words and drink in the essence of what we know as the passage of our own immorality.

  • Thanks so much for these tracks.

    Really takes me back.

    Awesome music.

  • Must be one of their best tracks.

  • yes

  • Talk Talk...such a beautiful music... it has a special place in my heart and life... Thank you ColourOfSpring ....

this amazing band, must check-out Marks solo work....

    Take Care mate....!!!

  • Superbe morceau. Les compositions de Mark Hollis nous manquent.

  • thanks for the pain

  • i still listen to this religiouly when i am working on my 80's novel. It reminds me of a girl i dated in 1985

  • what a gem mark hollis was so far ahead of his time such a shsme he retired but at least he made a lot of superb music for us to all enjoy 4ever...thanks and happy retirement you deserve it...

  • achingly beautiful.....a timeless masterpeice...gotta love mark hollis
