to be fair, his speed at the tire wall was almost nothing. seems like all the tyres stripping off shed him a load of speed. pretty crazy how unstable a car becomes without wheels!
Webber and Kovalainen training video!Buy it for 9,99 and you get also Super Crash DVD Collection number 1!AND thats not all!!! You get three posters of Formula 1 In Monza!!! :D
At least Danny has a good visible helmet. Apart from the fact he supports the Oxford United, I heard his helmet is a reference to another famous driver(Senna?). Is that true? Has Danny ever stated which other driver his helmet resembles to?
Lucky to walk away from this, could have been worse.
@leonardodesouza91 Thanks, although I found that out already:) But it's true that Danny took the base design of Patrese's helmet, I don't know why him though.
Glad to see that open wheel racing are starting to have bumpers behind those wheels so these nasty wrecks won't happen. These bumpers will be on the Indy Cars in 2012. And this is how Dan Wheldon died (RIP). Now F1, Formula Ford, Formula Mazda, and Formula Renault need to add these bumpers, it will really make a difference in racer safety.
Fuel? Oil? Even hydraulics? Sheesh, never heard of coolant? It's the only non-flammable clear fluid that could squirt from the engine department with such force without the engine running.
Crazy stuff! His own doing if anyones to blame of course, but these guys are so competitive he would never hand backed away from Heikki in a million years XD
@breaderb16lag No! If you study that crash, it was Mark Webber who was following Kovalainen's every move to get in his slipstream. They even had that controversial hand operated F-duct system back then for less air-resistance/more top-speed. Mark's car is then sucked towards the Lotus faster than Mark expected and he had one hand of the steering wheel to operate the F-duct. Kovalainen was legitimized to defend cause it was a fight for position. It was a miscalculation by Mark not by Heikki!
@skycvg that was perectly legal blocking, it also goes down to it being extremely difficult to pass someone on the straights at oulton park. Oh and that was Heikki Kovaleinen, who drives for Team Lotus in F1
awesome overtake at the start

@peterdaviesracing 0:49, from the look of the side of the helmet this desing was used by Ricardo Patrese, but Danny used yellow instead of white.

Kovi didn't do anything to anyone, Webber crashed into his back and so did Watts.
Desperate to pass he saw a gap that wasn't there.
This bit of blocking was frustrating but legit, he wasn't weaving on the straight or anything, just positioning his car for the successive sweeps.
It's the nature of the cars that turned a bump and perhaps spin into a launch and huge accident.

Anyone who knows the track also knows that there is no way over overtaking in that corner. It can't work...
dirkthes2s 3 months ago
was this before the one move rule then? that is not good defensive driving that is just downright dangerous
hamiltonlegend24 3 months ago
@hamiltonlegend24
1. This is Formula Renault not F1. So the rules that exist in F1 mean nothing here.
2. The video is 10 years old, so yes.
3. Danny shouldn't have been up his gearbox into the braking zone itself, He left himself no space
