Thanks for sharing something of the early North American history. I'm rather surprised that they let those trees grow over it, rather than to excavate it 30/40 years ago before they took a hold on the earthworks. :D
@DiggnNDumps Yeah. There in town an elementary school sits on an old burial mound and so do a few other buildings. And of course wal mart when they built thier original store uncovered some graves and now they dont have thier store there.
@jmwnycprr That Shii disgust me, in my hometown they did the same thing to build a bank. Then a few years later, the found out they only removed head markers..not the bodies..The bank was tore down and now its just an empty lot full of unmarked graves
Next time , do something that is square. that made me dizzy...lol Great site. I wonder
how many sites are not documented in the states. Here in the south, they say you can follow the rivers and if you see a small mound, dig into it. If you find a lot of mussel shells then it is a camp site made by the indians.
@beveledblade Man a copper ear spool would be awesome. Probably crumble though. There were quiet a few earthworks and burial mounds in New castle but I believe this one is the only one left in town. To the north of town a few eartworks and burial mounds still remain at the old hospital site. Most of them were destroyed. It was a Hopewell complex.
@justanotherpulltab Your area is loaded with mounds and earthworks. They are at the college and the old hospital site and throughout your county. You know that town where we got rained out at? There was a big mound complex north of there but its all gone now. You can still see rings in the dirt on google maps.
That video was really Interesting, thanks for posting.

Is that a white school bus hiding over there under the trees? Is the driver asleep?
Izman65 6 months ago
@Izman65 Yeah sure is. Thats our tax dollars at work. What do you expect from a crooked school corporation anyway.
jmwnycprr 6 months ago
Nice video. Now you need to visit Mounds State park and show us those Indian mounds.
Izman65 6 months ago
@Izman65 Yeah I know where a few other earthworks are on public land that are hidden away and forgotten one day ill show them.

And keep your eye out for copper if your detecting in moundbuilder country ..
Obviously I don't mean that exact spot..just in general :)
I have seen a very nice ear-spool found while detecting a hill-top.
