too bad i was born in 1996, missed the good old days of the 80's..the only way i can live through the past, is through stories shared to me from my mother...i wish i was able to experience Hawaii in the 1980's, or even 1970's.. the simpler days..when the only concern was who's house would the weekend family's cook out be at.
watching this after seeing hawaiinewsnow for a while now makes me wanna cry even more. i miss KGMB9, kim gennuala, stacy loe, liz chun, tina chau, ashley nagaoka, and all the other great names that have came before.. the rich hostory of KGMB9 fills my moms memories of when she was a child. she remembers being on the kids television show checkers and pogo, and winning the time bomb game....
For me, it all started going downhill when KHNL started their "news" operation in the mid-90's - sensationalistic "mainland-style" pseudo-journalism. All flash and no substance - and us locals ate it up. "Oooh! Look da Doplah Radar! Cool yeah?"
this video makes me wanna cry to see how the station has evolved, and the future to come. this merger is going to have a major effect, and change KGMB9 forever...
i want to cry when i watch this video! it shows how the news has changed over the years, and that is why i want to become a news reporter for kgmb9. remember my name. Dillon Ancheta! (i'm using my cousin's account) but i will be apart of the news one day
