I am from the east coast of africa and you have really opened up my mind in combating this problem for me. Thanks and will give it a try.very impressed by a pretty lady like you who loves to garden.A standing clapping for you.
@32abell the oils that give the taste of most herbs like chili peepers, garlic, cardamom, cinnamon, etc... are in fact are natural insecticides or insect repellents. so this mixture can in fact work, the soap will help the oils to penetrate and stick to the plant stems and leaves. I experimented with a lot of this kind of natural insecticides, but as the oils are never in the same quantity from batch to batch the results may vary significantly and you can even end-up killing your plants.
i look at it this way... people who know a lot more than i do about what is safe for animals, are using Dawn to clean oil off marine animals and birds. thats good enough reason for me to use it an insecticide on my garden... besides, it will make washing the veggies a lot easier:)
(for those looking for info on the internet) DAWN Dishwash Ingredients Water solvent sodium lauryl sulfate cleaning agent sodium laureth sulfate cleaning agent alkyl dimethyl amine oxide cleaning agent SD alcohol solvent sodium chloride process aid PPG-26 viscosity control PEI-14 PEG-10/PPG-7 copolymer cleaning enhancer cyclohexanediamine solvent magnesium chloride suds enhancer phenoxyethanol process aid methylisothiazolinone preservative fragrance fragrance FD&C Blue 1 colorant
It works, and it's better than the chemical (cancer-inducing) pesticides that kill earthworms and of course, eventually, people... but, honey, there's NOTHING natural about wash-up liquid and this substance is toxic and an eco no-no. A natural soap is 'bouncing bet' a naturally lathering herb that washes better than chemi-soaps of the so called modern age-there r other natural washing soaps; but...least this one doesn't kill worms/ poison food or mutate DNA the way the Monsanto products do...
@monaconda The soap is bio degradable even this dish washing liquid soap. I have seen people in Brasil using tobacco leaves extract and a 50g boiled soap barre to kill of Caterpillar in cabbage.
@monaconda Soap is a natural product. It contains No chemicals therefore it is natural. There are all sorts of natural and organic soaps out there that are environmentally friendly.
You're gonna make for an awesome wife for somebody someday.

@monaconda Exactly! I don't see ingredients on DAWN soap but there is a number to call. Tried calling it - lol - the number is dead. Just more fraud.
