Kind and appreciative greetings from Canada, and thank you so much for posting this wonderful video thereby providing me with a delightful musical educational experience regarding the wonderfully amazing Mance Lipscomb!
I agree...it IS a treasure and I was thrilled when my friend shared this recording with me. Information describing the circumstances of the recording are posted immediately to the right of the video under About This Video. Click on "more" to read the full text.
The man prodding Mance along is my father, Dr. George Bowman, a long time dentist is Camron and Temple, TX. He had taken my brother Jim to see Mance as he was interested in playing guitar at the time. Mance wanted my brother to sing along with him and my brother told him he couldn't sing. Mance told him that if he can talk, he can sing. You just open up your mouth and let the words come out he said. I can still picture my dad doing the buck dance with one of Mance's friends as Mance played.
Yes! This brings back so many memories of Mance and my dad. Daddy loved Mance and we had many wonderful lessons on life from Mance. I remember the gold guitar Daddy put into Mance's false teeth, and how Mance loved to show it off.

Is this the audio that is available at UT? A friend of mine, Glen Alyn, did a similar historical perspective on Mance and wrote a book about it.
