Celine's best vocals were the "Falling into you" ERA, hands down...she lost her voice during that albums world tour and had to have training to get it back..."Lets talk about love" showed the dramatic difference in her voice. That album showed it to never be the same. She also changed from chest power and using her diaphragm to now singing with her head and throat! "Falling in you" was the last album that Celine sung with her best vocals! All albums after that have never been the same vocally.
@Support4MySingers I disagree. The Falling into you era is overrated. Nothing tops the 1991-1995 era. Celine never faced a vocal decline in the 90s so I don't get AT ALL the ''lost her voice'' argument. There was NO change in Celine's voice and nothing is evident in her LTAL album. In facts, S'il suffisait d'aimer (1998) and These are special times (1998) are more consistent than her 1996 and 1997 releases. A true change in her voice only applies to the 2004-2008 era. Oh and TAST album >>> FIY.
@Luxiusta07 I'm no hater I'm one of her biggest fans and I personally hear a massive difference in her technique and vocals after "Falling into you"...she's never used her voice the same way since and the industry have pointed that out many times but that doesn't mean her voice failed. It's still been amazing and losing her voice duing her "FIY" tour was in her first autobiography and she's talked about it on Oprah many times. That's when she stopped talking for 2 hours after every performance!
@Support4MySingers In saying all of that, I don't care if we agree because I don't know you. I know Celine, I know her voice and by going by her own words, she herself has mentioned after losing her voice she learnt to take better care of it and that's why her voice is different from LTAL. Since LTAL she sings in different registers with different technique. THAT'S what my first comment was about, MY feelings on what I think is different about her voice but I still love it!
I am a huge fan as well. Have you heard the studio version of O Holy Night, Ave Maria, Je Crois Toi, Papillon ? In all these her voice is so warm and pure. There were points on her Falling Into You album were she sounded raspy.
What differences do you notice in the technique ?
Which people in the industry pointed the change in her voice ?
@Support4MySingers As far as I know, she was really praised for her instrument in the 1998/1999 era. You said she lost her voice in the FIY era. Ironically, Celine lost her voice back in late 80s for the first time during the Incognito tour and then again on her Unison tour in 1991. So she had issues long before the FIY era, due to excessive touring and recording.
the voice of celine dion, is the same throught the years, she studies her voice and use her voice like an instrument. She is perfect and i think she is one of the best female singer in the world

@CelineArchive Check Seduces me live in 1996 and then the Vegas version. I insist the second one is too nasal. The new Vegas show has only 70 perfomances per year, not 200. So chances are she stays in good shape.
@CelineArchive ''I don't think her voice sounded different'' Everything she said or sang coming out of her nose. I could put my hand in my nose just to imitate her. #LOL I mean e v e r y t h i n g was too nasal ! Even her speaking voice had changed. Her nasality was more obvious to soft verses. I've seen Tyler's video and some hard songs were live. LCMM ,RDMH have some F5s (I think), which are a challenge for Celine, lol. One thing is for sure : the hardest songs on TCWT were live.
@CelineArchive I don't give a shit about the few pressed bitches that hate on Celine's singing. :) She is in a good vocal condition - after 31 years in the business - and this is all that matters to me. The majority of people still think Celine can sing to save her life (Fact) and still buy her records and tickets (Fact). Therefore, what haters think is totally irrelevant.
very good video..you have such a collection of her decent notes during that era... and just a quick question: why did you put her falsetto/ head voice notes as 'G5-C6' at 14:43 when her head register started here from E5
@CelineArchive I believe the whole point of her ''1 Fille & 4 Types'' album was to distance herself from the screaming diva image. So there was a limit to her vocal perfomances. The album is easy listening and quite mature in terms of lyrics. We finally got the chance to listen to Celine doing some country, folk and soft rock and not filling her album with power ballads or popish dance tracks. It is one of her most balanced albums, both musically and lyrically.
@CelineArchive D5s for Celine is everything. #LOL Thanx to her DCP album, we have some amazing live perfomances from Celine. (Le blues du businessman 1995, Le fils de superman 1994 and the awesome Starmania medley.) Do you really want to listen to vocal acrobatics from Celine ? I think it's ''old school''. All I want to listen to is soft, pure singing. Can she sing 2 octaves ? I am fine with it. I don't hope for crazy vocals from Celine anymore.
@Luxiusta07 Right? I really think it's her best note of that song ever. It wasn't scratchy. It was more powerful than her other attempts. It wasn't all wobbly and unsure like the others. Too bad that was the only time she sang it live on the tour :(
Your video is very nice. :) That woman is a beast ! Her live singing through the 90s equals to almost 400 concerts + she recorded 9 studio albums. Restful or not, she tried for the best.
@CelineArchive 1 Fille & 4 Types had some great D5s in it. You shouldn't worry at all about her new french album. She works again with Luc Plamondon so expect some deep, profound lyrics and strong vocals. (Le Blues Du Businessman, Le Fils De Superman, Oxygene, Des Mots Qui Sonnent etc)
@CDionLive dahhling lol ive seen some footage of celine in 1997 singing as you put it rough mariahs nodules started to really take over after 1996 but shes always had them so yes her voice became husky/ airy or breathy whatever u want to call it but mariah showed 4 octaves live 1997 - 1998 out of her 5 that we know of so far lol so hardly a decline for mariah and for the record i was just asking why alot of people said that about celine clearly this video shows great vocals
@DreamloverLambi1 This was not a decline. She was just way more restful in early-mid 90s. Her real vocal decline must be around 2004/2005 because of the Vegas Show. Even her speaking voice became too nasal.
