  • 31-23. Go Dawgs!

  • You're right. Mullen is an underachiever. NAAAAAAAT! He has been a head coach for only 1 year. In his past, he has won 2 national championships as the leader of Florida's offense. He left there 2 years ago and Florida has never been as good on offense since even with Tebow as a senior.

  • Who is Mississippi State? What a loser of a coach. And what a pathetic fan base ringing their trailer bells.. Reminds me of a WWF shake down. Ring your bells retards!!!

  • @bvhafer A loser of a coach? You are an idiot. This statement was in response to Houston Nutt's statement earlier in the week that Ole Miss was the team in mississippi on the rise. One thing that i am kind of weary about with Dan Mullen is his mouth and letting his emotions get the best of him sometimes, but that's how he is and it's what he demands of his players. He's a smart coach, that has a done A LOT with VERY LITTLE...

  • Dan Mullen took a 4-8 team and turned them into a 5-7 team... Wow... That's a pretty big turnaround... His biggest accomplishment was beating his instate rival... On his home field... Seriously?!?! I predict MSU will win their next 33 football games... Then they will have a .500 record for this century XD ... Pathetic

  • @joemactro3182 lol but they had the hardest schedule in the nation ;-;and the losses were only by ten points or less, minus the alabama game.. u can't say they didnt' improve at least: - 105th in the nation in rushing to 9th (100.58 yards per game to 227.58)

    - 115th in the nation in scoring to 72nd (15.25 points per game to 25.58)

    - 113th in the nation in total offense to 65th (274.92 yards per game to 371.92) and

    - 114th in the nation in sacks allowed to 49th (40 sacks to 20) 50% improvement

  • @MysticSonic007 Not trying to shoot you down here, but MSU lost 49-24 to Auburn and 42-21 to Arkansas, so they had other losses by more than 10 pts.

  • @acnhs09 mostly due to big plays and mistakes, butthey were in those games up until then, but big plays just killed us xD

  • @joemactro3182 So pathetic that you took the time to write a paragraph.

  • @joemactro3182 I'm assuming you're an Ole Miss fan. He led them to a 5-7 record with the TOUGHEST SCHEDULE IN THE COUNTRY! If State has the Ole Miss schedule, they would have easily won 7, possibly 8. The improvement was noticed by guys like myself and other people with decent knowledge of the game. He's led them to 7 wins this year...so far, and if you will take a look, he's doing it with young players and the bad recruiting over the last several years. He's a great coach. Give it time.

  • @skinsfan0123 Look no one is arguing the fact that Mullen did a decent job last year. I mean you only had one of the best running backs in the history of your program and you still couldn't get to a bowl game?Mullen may be better than Nutt one day but, as of now he is not.Yeah youcould say Ole Miss "underachieved" from 10 wins to 9 wins. But with the Cotton Bowl being where it is now I know it is one of the nicest places I have ever watched a game. When Mullencan actually win a bowl game then talk

  • @matt0000012 I'm not gonna go off on a rant here, because you're basically correct.Nutt has achieved more than Mullen so far, but mostly with other guys' players. He did well with Orgeron's kids, now he even has Jeremiah Masoli and he's still struggling. That's his MO, but we do know one thing.he is a DANGEROUS coach. I'm a State fan and i'd be lying if i said that i'm not already biting my fingernails about the egg bowl. cause even if they win the next two, it's still a bad season if they lose

  • Ah, yes, the Egg Bowl, or as it is otherwise known, "Mississippi State's Bowl Game."

  • @Sipstate its easy to say that. we weren't expected to win enough games to go bowling. We weren't the ones expected to win 10 games and get a BCS invite. TSUN fans say State fans are happy with 5-win seasons. No, we're happy with 5-win seasons when we're expected to win 3 or 4. Just like TSUN was expected to win 10 and go to a BCS game and only got 8 wins and a cotton bowl (which is not the major bowl like it used to be) win. when its all said and done, MSU showed up TSUN did not

  • State kicks A#@!

  • Nutt has also been a head coach longer.....

  • Nutt as of right now is a better coach....Mullen could over take him one day but 1 Egg Bowl win doesn't make him better than Nutt. Nutt has accomplished more as a head coach.

  • @olemisspike probably cause last year was mullens first year dumbass. Of coarse Nutt going to have more on his resume. But what mullen did with the small talent of MSU, i dont know if nutt is a better coach. Nutt was supposed to win 10 games last year, REMEMBER? State overachieved and ole miss underachieved

  • And your gonna say Mullen with two SEC and NC rings? Really?? Thats like saying their long snapper is the best in the nation because he has two SEC and NC rings. If you honestly think that Mullens a better coach than Nutt then more power to you. If you ask any person without the maroon and white glasses on they would say Nutt is the better coach, hands down.

  • @matt0000012 What are you basing that on. Most of the SEC boards that I go to (Sec Talk Forums) all believe that Mullen will eclipse Nutt in Mississippi football. I would submit that you're the one wearing red and blue glasses. And where exactly, other than your opinion, do you get that Nutt is a better coach? Nutt beat Myer by a point on a fluke. Mullen dominated Nutt basically the entire Eggbowl and won by 14, and could have won by more.

  • @erinsdad09

And to continue on in this vein, State went from scoring 11.6 ppg in 2008 to 30 in 2009. How is that not on the rise? State improved its overall average by one game. Ole Miss didn't improve at all from Nutt's first year to his second year. In fact, as far as over all team stats, you got a little worse. To make matters worse, this was supposed to be ya'll's year. Ole Miss couldn't win a game with a number in front of its name, and that rests solely on Nutt;s shoulder.

  • @matt0000012 Nutts an underachiever and Mullen is an overachiever, NUFF SAID. Dont argue with it. you know its true ole miss prep boy.

  • Wow. So by your logic Nutt is better than Urban Myer?? Bc head to head Nutt won and Myer didn't in 08. Ha. Mullen my have the rings but so did Ed Orgeron. In fact, those two are actually kind of alike. Talk a lot of smack. And it's always next year. Give me a break. You are actually proving my point of using no logic by actually thinking Mullens is a better coach. Wow. I'll agree that Nutt is the better motivator but for LSU. If any it would be the Arkansas game.

  • When Mullens figures out how to get his team fired up for more than just one game a year then he might actually be taking his program in the right direction.

    FACT: Nutt>Mullens

  • @matt0000012

Fact: In the head to head matchup, Mullen-1 Nutt-0. Guess what that means, home slice. Mullen>Nutt. You couldn't be serious when you wote that. By the way, his name is Mullen. No s. By the way, if either of them is a one game motivator, it's Nutt, hoss. He only stands up for the LSU game every year, and that's no matter where he is coaching. After Mullen creamed Nutt you still think Nutt is better. Can you hear the entire SEC laughing at you?

  • @matt0000012

I am laughing so hard at you. I can literally barely type. After Nutt FRICKING LOST, you are still on here trying to say he is a better coach than Mullen. Mullen with two SEC and NC rings? Really? Can you say pwned?

  • @erinsdad09

Hold up. I've got more. Don't (wait while I wipe away tears) accuse me of not using logic when you come on here and claim that Scrotum>Mullen. Mullen coached circles around Nutt in the Eggbowl. Nutt>Mullen is so based on opinion, and an ill founded opinion at that.

  • Look, I'm not mad or anything close to being mad. If anything it's actually quiet funny the way you try to justify Mullens tactics. Mullens cannot recruit outside of the State of MS or let me put it this way, he hasn't proved he can recruit quality talent outside the state of MS. Like I said, MS talent alone will not consistently win a team ballgames. That why he tries to get to recruit MS hard. Mullens is an unproven head coach.

  • How come in the past two recruiting seasons Mullens hasn't signed a single Florida recruit?? It's because outside the state of MS, recruits actually see what kind of program State has. A program that has only been to one bowl game in the past decade. But obviously State is the program on the rise. P.S. It's hard to argue when you don't use facts and logic.

  • Calm down, son. It's all gonna be ok. It's just a game. Look, Mullen told you he was going to recruit Mississippi hard, and that's what he did. He told us last year when he took over that he didnt look at the stars that rivals and scout assigned players. He looked at the players. I'm not using facts and logic? What facts are you drawing from? Secondly, Mullen needles Ole Miss fans, and it's funny to watch their brains short circuit. Enjoy your excellent recruiting and mediocre seasons.

  • What you're missing is that Ole Miss only offered 4 or 5 of the recruits from MS that State got. And out of the offered ones Ole Miss really wanted Kaleb Eulls and Robert Johnson. So Mullens did not dominate Nutt in recruiting. And if you think that State can win with MS talent alone then you obviously don't know much about college football. Sure State has more native MS recruits but when State is going up against schools like Ark State, Troy, UAB, etc. why wouldn't they choose State.

  • They were created solely for the benefit of the fans?? Yeah right...You're telling me there is no direct correlation in recruiting rankings to the AP polls, coaches polls??? Sure there are the Boise States, TCU, Utahs, but usually if there is a team consistently in the Top 25 of Recruiting rankings they will be in the Top 25 during the football season. You even said your self that Mullens would dominate in state recruiting. How did that go?? Arkansas fans also said Nutt couldn't recruit...

  • Actually we signed many more native Mississippi recruits than Nutt did. What you're missing is that Mullen went to a lot of these two and three A rural high schools in Mississippi and got a lot of un ranked talent. They don't get stars because they are largely over looked at smaller schools. But they are monster athletes. Let's just put it this way: Ole Miss is in for a nasty surprise with Mullen at the helm in Starkville. ;) ha ha P.S. It;s kinda hard to talk smack when you lose.

  • Those rankings don't mean anything??? Yeah right. Dan the Man said that his program is the program on the rise but, he has been out-recruited the past two years and will continue to be out-recruited by Ole Miss and pretty much everyone else in the SEC west. I'll give it to you State flat out beat Ole Miss. It's a rivalry game...those types of games happen. But at the rate State is recruiting I doubt that will happen again.

  • Yeah...Just like after 2008, you doubted we would ever win the Egg Bowl again, right. And no, you obviously don't know much about college football if you put too much stock in those rankings. They were created solely for the benefit of the fans. No coach that I know of cares about them. Continue to be shocked when Mullen continues to beat you. Get ready for the roller coaster ride that is Houtson Nutt....He's about due to let Ole Miss down, right Arky fans?

  • Ole miss recruiting class ranked 17.

    State recruiting class ranked 38.

I guess it is clear that State's program is the program on the rise. Ha.

  • Um.....Ole Miss outrecruited State last year, and you still lost. In fact, since we flayed your ass with a two start QB last year, you can drop the whole "we got more talent than you schtick." Those rankings don't mean a thing. lol

  • 41-27

  • Actually, Mullen was repsonding to a remark Houston Nutt made about MSU earlier in the year. It was about recruiting after that big Klan rally at Ole Miss. You guys remember, right? He said it would be classless for other programs to use it against Ole Miss, and said that one program in the state was on the rise. Golly gee, what program do you suppose he was talking about? These Ole Miss peckerwoods can't be serious. To add insult to injury, Mullen is kicking their tush in in state recruiting.

  • Comment removed

  • @wigwam22 Your team is gona suck so bad next year. We are gona beat you by 10 points in oxfart next year.

  • MSU = Class. Enough said.

  • BIG MISTAKE COUSIN EDDIE!!!

  • and the reason Nutt said it was in response to a question about "tsun"....Nutt isn't the one talking trash...Nutt has barely commented on State...Mullen has been talking sh!t since he got off the plane in that cow pasture

  • bhw, you want some french cries with that wahhburger?

  • No. Houston was the first to toss the verbal grenade. It had everything to do with the Klan marching on UM's campus. A reporter asked Nutt for his opinion on how he thought it would affect recruiting at UM. Nutt automatically assumed that other schools would use it to recruit against UM, and he made the comment "There's one school in THE STATE that's definitely getting stronger." Or something to that extent.

It was a blatent knock towards MSU. Nutt made the assumption and ran with it.

  • No idiot. Nutt started at at the press conference on sunday or monday before the game, and said Tsun was "One school in the state that was on the rise." Mullen had every right to do this and I'm glad he did. I hope he does it after we kick your ass next year at your piece of shit stadium.

  • What the hell is TSUN then?Is that not a Verbal grenade.Mullet came in the door talking shit about Ole Miss from day one with this TSUN and a countdown clock. What childish shit.Nutt has NOT mentioned State once until egg bowl week. Mullen has been saying TSUN this and TSUN that all damn year.Dan Mullen and State needs to worry about themselves. Yall talk about Ole Miss more than State.Who the hell puts up plaques up of victories in an annual rivalry?

  • State is a perfect example of little brother syndrome, inferiority complex much. 5-7 and the Eggs Bowl congrats on the great season.

  • Also, state would have had 7 wins if they had ole hype's schedule so stop talking shit. I think GA Tech and Houston are a little better than Memphis and UAB don't you? Go troll somewhere else, because like it or not, the better team won on that day.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know, who does? The series is pretty close over the last 10 years. BTW, I'm not sure mullen meant for tsun comments to be so offensive. All it does is fail to mention yall's stupid name, which nobody owes you anyway. So if you want that nickname to disappear, then quit complaining.

  • We have won 10 of the last 19.

  • Comment removed

  • Major fail on your part there.

  • @bhw07 Just a reminder for all you OM fans. Coach O's recruits are gone. I guess the whining will continue next year.

  • And yet who ended up winning the game? maybe ole piss should have thought about state a little more than what they did cause state obviously wanted it 1,000 times more.

You ole miss fans still talk shit even when you were BEATEN by the team your talking shit about.. which makes absolutely 0 sence.

  • heck yeah!!!

  • You stay classy Dan Mullen

  • Houston started it by saying they were the only program on the rise in the press conference last week. Mullen had every right to do this.

  • classy was not punching in another touchdown in the final minute of the game....we can go ahead and assume the score to be 48-27 if you like?

  • Comment removed

  • Your guys out played ours, no doubt.

  • Hey Speedlimit, I'm a State grad and I work with a huge Ole Miss fan, I was picking on him about costing ya'll a Florida Bowl game....He thank me cause he can make the trip to Dallas but couldn't afford to go to Florida.....LOL. Good luck in the bowl game

  • I believe he said "...great job. These Seniors did a great job believing in what's going on. I know one thing; There's certainly one team in Mississippi on the rise, heading in the right direction..."

and then I think he says "It's Mississippi State" but I can't really tell because he's downed out by the cowbells.

  • Dan Mullen " This evening we did a great job..... now let me tell you whats going on? For sure, I know one thing, there is certainly one program in this State...... that's definitely on the rise and going in the right place."

It was a jab at UM's Nutt saying something similar after he beat LSU.

  • after he got lucky against lsu

  • Can somebody write out what the man actually said? I hear a bit and then it gets drowned out . . .

  • watch out college football dan is the man

  • Needs more cowbell.
