My high school marching band had similar if not the same cadet style uniforms, we were also styled after The Cadets, due to the fact our band director was obsessed with Garfield. at competions every band would watch us go by and you could hear the snide remarks. I think they were just jealouse that we could actually be so bold and good enough to wear that style of uniform. Drill and Music to boot. This uniform was hot and heavy as hell.
That show was a nightmare for me. In the tunnel, I accidentally smacked my second valve casing against my buckle when Chris called us to attention. Result? Non-functional second valve. So I had to play everything with alternate fingerings that night, which was harrowing to say the least.
Patient! and Confident. Dude I love the Cadets' uniform; classic. If corps were cars the Cavis would be like Lotus or something, the Cadets would be that vintage Benz....Beautifully classic, and that bitch weighs a ton too (actually more than a ton) so don't frikkin run into it, you may get plowed.
Cadets do not fuck around (sorry kids, this is no longer PG) Even the name 'Cadets' implies something of a badass. Nobody who goes to the Cadets takes being a member lightly. I like some of the swagger other groups have but Cades have done it the most consistant the longest. Even the uniform makes a simple yet bold statement. I'm glad they stopped fucking with the whole reversal thing but it was used (over used) to good effect...
at band camp this year we found an old uniform jacket in my high shool similar to the Cadets' in it's design...... we later found out it was leftover from the 60's, hahaha
cadets are by far the best fucken core there is, im a drum guy and their drumline has always been inspiring for me, and i saw them live for the first time in the rose bowl and they were dirty as freakin hell , i dont know what happened..
Ever marched at Univ of Northern Illinois, Dekalb I think... you can see the reflection formation in the reflection of the announcer booth. So wicked.
