  • diana seemed to be what micheal jacksons death was to america

  • I was 2 when this aired :/ Wish I'd been alive to appreciate alot of the shit that was goingon whilst I was obsessed with digimon.

  • "The international whitetrash jet set into which she hoped to marry".........LOL Only Hitch.

  • Princeton Univ has been running a program to globally track global consciousness. They track mega-events, and their graphs correlate attention to mega-events with increased measurements in the dispersed receptors. FASCINATING

    noosphere . princeton . edu / rdnelson / diana . html

  • I can't watch the whole video. The audio can trigger rage episodes

  • Hitch's reference to people crying on cue at the death of the dear leader is prescient; that's exactly what happened 14 years later when the leader of North Korea died, the very same weekend that Hitch himself passed on to the great debate in the sky.

  • @MinotawrTV Or rather in the grave ... amongst the maggots.

  • @MrOceanPenguin He was cremated.

  • @MinotawrTV Actually ... we're both wrong. His brother (Peter Hitchens) wrote:

"Some people have asked me when and where my brother’s funeral took place. In fact, as Christopher donated his body to medical science, there has not been and will not be any funeral."

  • mother theresa??? She didnt haveone :)

  • utf-hewas a wtriterwith kids to feed, not god almighty - and who doesnt love their own intellect?????

  • Christopher Hitchens loved more his intellect than other people and treated human emotion as garbage, except his own.

  • FAYED =WHITE TRASH.......,CMON HITCH

  • Rule 1: Do not, I repeat, DO NOT praise Mother Teresa in the presence of Hitch

  • @cemalson You don't know Christopher Hitchens enough to call him "Hitch".

  • @KevD08 Haha. As a matter of fact I do not know him at all, yet, I call him whatever I please

  • @KevD08 What was the purpose of your comment by the way? Are you Hitch's spokesman telling people what to call him? Well look at that, I called him Hitch again. Learn to handle it.

  • @cemalson Your prison experiences are fascinating.

  • @EasingDifficulties heh heh heh heh heh heh

  • Pervert, revert, invert—give me your lovin' sweet baby doll in your gateway getaway—big nighttime fashion modeling way, oh yeah Mama: yeah!!! I believe that Teresa Teng, Iris Chang, Aaron Russo, Senator H. John Heinz, Congressman Hale Boggs & Sonny Bono were assassinated.

  • At 2:30 the guy casually says "..if she'd been, Mother Teresa, say...". The thing is Mother Teresa did die the same day this interview was recorded - 5th September 1997.

Does anyone know whether this interview took place before or after Mother Teresa's death was announced?

  • @LIVINGONTHEDOLE

    OPRAH IS A STUPID COW.

  • funny how mother teresa acualy died on this exact day !

  • his death was also a non-event.

  • When this spencer girl's death happened i was in high school in india. I remember everyone around me saying she was a role model. I just knew she was hot and was as good a role model as Marilyn monroe was to me.

It seems like the east india company establishment hadn't left as yet...

  • Hitchens wearing a tie?

  • @MrOnionterror He must have chugged a couple (or 6) black labels.

  • who here skipped over the other dude?

  • @joshuahomme1

    There was another dude?

  • Thumbs down due to terrible audio!

  • "Opera Winfrey"

  • definately been tampered with

  • The CIA cut out these audio bits here?!

  • What happened to the sound in this clip?

  • lol "Opera Winfrey"

  • ****, these guys curse a lot.

  • What happened to all of the money that Mother Teresa had collected?

  • FUCKING SHIT AUDIO

  • How much did Princess Diana leave to charity ?

  • @LuluRosenkrantz How much have you given this year?

  • @jacksawild Not a lot . But at least I wear my clothes more than once .

  • Diana was flawed, but this is her appeal - her emotional vulnerability. I wish Christopher would have set aside his own exceptional intellect for just a moment and considered that it was Diana, in using her power and influence to connect with common people, who gave people a sense of stability and reassurance. That surely contributed to the cult that formed around her. Not everyone can be as witty, self-assured and realistic as Chris. People needed Diana, badly.

  • This was the day Mother Teresa died. Was it known at this point in the day? If not, that's kind of ironic.

  • the man on the left is completely out of his depth, but Hitch is brilliant as usual. R.I.P.

  • I'm going to miss hearing that voice. :(

  • GODBLESS YOU HITCHENS!!!

  • The sound cutting out makes this almost unwatchable

  • Does the sound keep cutting out or is it being censored?

  • Why does the sound keep cutting out in this damned video?

  • The logic in Hitch's arguments, the clarity with which he rips apart the facade is absolutely stunning. Great, great intellectual.

  • SHE WAS SACRIFICED BY SATANIST RULERS OF THIS WORLD

    WAR IS HUMAN SACRIFICE

SEE SKULL AND BONES AND BOHEMIAN GROVE

WHY DO RABBIS MULLAS PRIESTS JUDGES AND GRADUATES WEAR LONG BLACK ROBES

WHY DOES THE CHURCH HAVE A SACRIFICIAL ALTAR WITH JESUS THE HUMAN SACRIFICE ABOVE IT

FUCKING HELL - WHEN ARE THE SHEEPLE GOING TO WAKE UP

THE POPE JUST ASKED FOR A WORLD BANK

THE POLICE ARE DRESSED IN BLACK LIKE NAZIS AND ARE BEATING EVERYONE UP WITH TRUNCHEONS

    STEP OUT OF LINE...

  • @timewilltell7 wow another insanely ill-read conspiracy website junkie. I pity you

  • @CharlotteElliot

forget the conspiracy word - come to me with a fact to challenge

go on then .... coincidence theorist

  • i love hitchen's snigger when he said mother teresa was good

    lol - I LOVE HITCH

  • Christian nuns believe that though's who suffer are the elect of god. She was a true believer thats what needs to be understood. Which will lead you to the understanding that being a non believer is much better

  • @MrAtlanticstar72 but she wasnt thats the thing =/

  • @MrAtlanticstar72 True believers are the most dangerous ones.

  • Diana wasn't the main target and she is still alive.

Who was the target? Dodi, the movie producer. I was a

NASA engineer thrown out by the Klan and

homeless when I met Diana in NYC in 1995 and gave her

a copy of my Federal Civil Rights case vs NASA and Bush

and a copy of my TV show. I met her after that also.

NYC_Alan Pakula and Harrison Ford and gave them the same

info. Pakula dead on the LIE! Car crash. HF's Little JFK

on the case_plane crash. Dr. John E. Mack_Contact? Dead in London.

  • Constant Hitchslap! nooch

  • "international white-trash jet-set" love it.

  • THE SOUND IS FUCKED - IT'S NOT YOU, STOP TOUCHING YOUR EARPHONE PLUG!

  • If you associate yourself with the british 'left' and desire to move to america ....you were never on the 'left'.

  • Mother Teresa was a public image created by the catholic church.

  • fix the fucking sound asshole

  • Christopher Hitchens is a state run monkey - Lady Di was killed so Charlie boy could marry his bit on the side and make her Queen -

  • The shitty audio ruins the fucking interview

  • Nowadays everything is over-coveraged..

  • 8:17 did hitch actually mispronounce cretin here? surely i must be mistaken...

  • @nerdyharry That is how cretin is pronounced in British English. The pronunciation that sounds like creetin is avoided because it sounds exactly the same as the word Creten (someone from the isle of Crete).

  • I don't know if you people feel the same way, but Pruden really appears to be both out of touch with popular culture (pronouncing Oprah's name as "Opera" Winfrey), and unknowledgeable in that Hitchens actually created a documentary skewering Mother Theresa. He also puts forth the idea that Diana's death would somehow have been less newsworthy if she had been ugly. This guy is a dick.

  • If she would've trodded on a landmine, ha ha

  • How can Wesley Pruden pretend to be informed if he can't even pronounce Oprah's name properly? Seriously.

  • the royal family has got the fan club it deserves. airhead chavs who are about to be returned to serfdom by cameron and who deserve it.

  • we brits let ourselves down

  • he is in his death bed....

  • thumbs down if you hate pricks like solarboy555 who ask for thumbs up

  • THANK YOU FOR THE UPLOAD!!!

  • That's wild, he mentions Mother Teresa's death on the day she died, before she died! He was totally wrong about the world's reaction to her death.

  • Mother Terror let people die in her care with no meds other than aspirin or over the counter drugs. My sister is a proud Hospice Nurse that helps people die with trying to minimize the about of pain. Mother Terror collected millions of dollars for the church and let people die in agony. Mother Terror is utter bullshit! I hope she is burning in hell if there is one.

  • @wslandry

don't hold back, tell us how u feel....

  • she was not killed in the tunnel, and the blame the photographers.................easy target......

  • @Jabberwockyjefferies The odds are as follows: five year survival rate - 2.8%. I too, of course hope for the best outcome. I'm hoping he will last as long as possible with as little pain as possible, and then when the pain becomes too great, a speedy and scotch-fueled death (Johnny Walker Black, please)...

  • @Jabberwockyjefferies The world at large has no say in the matter. One way or the other, the end is relatively near. As Hitch himself stated, he has stage 4 esophageal cancer, "and there is no stage 5"...

  • @Jabberwockyjefferies Oh, how I wish that were true.

  • "Opera" Winfrey? Where has this guy been?

  • @beeroosterm I think he knew exactly what he was saying!

  • @tbdonnelly67 I disagree; he's too damned conservative to really know who she is. That's conservative!

  • @beeroosterm I think he knows but he is just being, well, Hitchens! I can't stand OW. It was her "anointing" of Obama as the savior that started this whole sorry mess we are in.

  • @tbdonnelly67 I was speaking of Wes Pruden's mispronunciation of Oprah Winfrey's given name as "Opera", not anything Hitchens said...

  • @beeroosterm My mistake. It was not Hitchens who said "OPERA". I still suspect he knew exactly what he was saying - and I think it's fucking funny! ;-))

  • @tbdonnelly67 That guy was completely out of touch, perfectly demonstrated when he stated that Mother Theresa did good things when everybody else in t he world knew full well that in 1994 (three years before this interview), Hitchens made a movie absolutely skewering Mother Theresa called "Hell's Angel". You can hear Hitchens groan when Pruden lauds her.

  • @beeroosterm I know about CH's movie. I never bought the MT myth myself. I don't know this guy Pruden so perhaps you are right.

  • I think this guy is nuts, both of them actually because how dare they talk about Princess Diana in this manner...the woman was killed and these two losers are just shrewing her great name...unbelieveable! To the idiot who cracked the corny joke of :why did the Princess cross the road" u need to grow up and get a life cause its obvious you dont have one...maybe u should cross the road, please!

  • @cottontop6395:Well, why did she cross the road? She had to have known she couldn't get to the other side, especially in a car with a drunk driver.

  • @cottontop6395 the point they are making is how ridiculous and sappy the coverage was...on the front page of that newspaper they show in the beginning it should 3 suicide bombings and 9 israelis being killed...no big deal we need to talk about someone whos death was an accident just because of who she was..i dont know enough about to her have anything against her but the coverage of her death was ridiculous

  • Hitch looked healthier in 2007 then he did in 1997... The man is a legend... Hang in hitch... We need 20 more years of you.

  • @PigOnGas ah...no he didn't. I wish he'd stop drinking and smoking, it's the main reason his former charm has vanished

  • @PigOnGas Hitch will do no such thing. Stage 4 esophageal cancer. Any time now....

  • Why did the Princess cross the road?

Because she wasn't wearing a seat belt.

  • @GSW12345 What was the last thing Lady Diana said to Dodi Fayed? I want it hard and fast and up against the wall!

  • LOL, Hitchens makes that boring-ass room AWESOME

    (☞゚ヮ゚)☞

  • Diana was a nobody - the royal family are a bunch of nobodies - they are a drain on the economy and make people forget about their real problems as they live vicariously through silver spooned pricks!

  • I'm a big fan of Christopher Hitchens, particularly his opinions on religion and morality. However, saying that for Princess Diana to be killed by a landmine would be "a very fine way for her to go" is morally reprehensible. Absolutely disgusting.

  • @TheAaj123 It's not morally reprehensible; he was trying to depict the difference between a meaningful death (dying in a manner related to a cause she had championed, the removal of landmines) to the meaningless death that befell her (an automobile accident with, as Hitchens put it, the 'international white trash jet set.') If you want 'disgusting', you'll love his comparison of Diana with landmines.

  • I bet those paparazzi were relived, When they heard the driver failed the breath test, Saved their ass

  • This is pretty hilarious.

  • I was 4 at the time and I apparently said "seems like a lot of fuss for one girl"

  • Pruden is right about something. Humans are lookist pigs even as babies they prefer so-called attractive faces. If Diana had looked like, say, Merkel you wouldn't have seen that much hoopla over her death.

  • He's so wrong, Diana left a huge legacy

  • @anthonyrawly Princess Diana did not leave one cent to charity .

  • Thumbs up if you lol'd at Hitchens grumbling in the background when the other guy first mentions Mother Teresa.

  • @solarboy555 Yes! xD

  • @solarboy555 lmao love him

  • @solarboy555 OMG i noticed that too, lol!

  • @solarboy555 haha yas! I was just about to make a comment to that effect

  • @solarboy555 LOL Hitchens always delivers.

  • @solarboy555 How the hell did Pruden not know Hitchens made a friggin' MOVIE vilifying Mother Theresa? Or did he, do you think, do it just to get Hitchens' goat? Perhaps Hitchens grumbled because he was uncertain and didn't follow up with a massive Hitchslap as he is so famous for. I cannot imagine that Pruden pronounces Winfrey's given name as "Opera" purposely and is in addition unaware of Hitchens' movie. If so, he's a complete dolt.

  • @solarboy555 That was soooo fucking hilarious. I'm still laughing.

  • all those people who were crying at the gates of buckingham palace were absoloutely mental

  • This patchy sound is fucking nefarious.

  • Hate to say it, but in 14 years and since his cancer, his looks went to absolute shit.

  • Hearing Christopher slag off the British royal family. So eloquently demolish those hideous overated mammals tax funded chinless idiots. Is the perfect antidote to the nauseating nonsensicle media hype. About the non-issue that is the Royal wedding.

  • "Opera Winfrey"

  • The outpouring was a pre-cursor to the uk celeb culture. The vicerious (sic)mourning of the lady we never knew.? I mourn the popular :. i share the popularity. However dont throw the baby away . perhaps a celebration of the brits true love affair with the underdog. or the champion of humility ? gawd bless yer guvnah xxx

  • I was 8 when the Diana episode happened. I lived in London at the time, and remember vividly the public response. Even at 8, my foremost thought to those people crying was 'Get a fucking life'.

  • @finchy633 Well said, Finchy! And here we go again on Friday with the "Royal Wedding". Wed, enjoy your lives, do as you please, but not on the exorbitant taxes funded by the gullible and bullied British public. What a disgrace...and in 2011. The country needs to grow up and become a Republic. Even the French did this, a couple of hundred years ago I might add!

  • @finchy633

Well said finchey. I was roughly the same age when that hideously overated, over-priviledged tax sponge. That was Diana bought it. It was the pre-cursor to the sappy celeb-obsessed junk media that we have today. The Royal Family is nothing more then a bad tax funded soap opera. Which the sensationalist Murdoch media and co,eats up

  • @finchy633 LOL

  • @finchy633 The "royal wedding" inspires a similar response.

  • @finchy633 Deifying celebrities and politicians is sleazy imo. People die all the time and alot are unmourned or mourned very little. What has this slut done to warrant being raised up on high above us? Inbred blue blooded "royal" status? You should hate politicians and celebrities and religious heads for thinking they are above you.

  • @starcrafter13terran Precisely. But my anger isnt aimed towards the celebrities themselves. Diana might have been a nice person, I don't know - I didn't know her. It is the ridiculous reaction of certain circles of the public that get really under my skin. People crying over the death of Diana were pathetic.

  • @finchy633 I was exactly the same as you at the time of this event. I remember being sat in the front room with my dad, I said to him something along the lines of "why does anybody really care?". He then responded by angrily screaming at me. Never really understood that moment until now. People get wrapped up in shit that has nothing to do with them, it's sad.

  • @finchy633

    Me too.

  • It wasn't her outward beauty that made the world mourn, it was her inward beauty that people responded to. If a public diplomat isn't empathic and sincere, regardless of how stunning he / she is, we grow weary of his / her presence, and we find ourselves questioning motives. Based on the way people responded to her charitable tours, who can deny her altruism? Cameras don't lie. Apart from the times, she was worn from the hunt, she was a carriage of grace and agape love. RIP Beautiful Soul....

  • @blueguitarblue

What is with you fucking psychopaths? She never did anything to help the World. Yet you all persist in practically beautifying her. The Princess of Wales gave MONEY to... CHARITY? Christ, that must have left her in the dumps for a while. You are aware, that her altruism was only a PR event; right? Like all Celebrities, they forgot about it the next week. Remember, this is a Woman who almost destroyed our Monarchy. If you want to respect her for it, go ahead.

  • im always pessimistic as hitchens shows how stupid the overwhelming majority of ppl are.

  • @OlObserver There is more than that! It was all set up. YOU NEED TO WAKE UP AND REALISE THE WHOLE TRUTH NOT IN THE MEDIA!

  • At 2:29 Pruden wonders if the hypothetical death of Mother Teresa, herself being less attractive than Diana, would evoke the same outpouring of emotion as Diana's death has.

Mother Teresa died later that same day. Weird.

  • @cotchery like 19girlbad said it was probably the New World Order (not Hulk Hogan and them but the real one). They whacked her to test the waters in an experiment on mass psychosis.

  • @ThePyramis Oh for goodness sake, Princess Diana would have made a bloody good Queen. The nation needs someone like her because she was a role model and wanted to change the world unlike the satanic Royal family intended to bring NEW WORLD ORDER WITH CORRUPT POLITICIANS AND BANKERS ETC! YOU SHOULDN'T BELIEVE THE MEDIA BECAUSE THEY TELL A PACK OF LIES! WAKE UP!

  • @21whitworth12 You need to wake up mate because the Royal family hated her from start to end. IT WAS AN ASSASSINATION! YOU BEEN BRAINWASHED FROM THE MEDIA!

  • @19GirlBad yeah they planned to make her driver drunk and drive 90mph through narrow streets and crash in a tunnel right? She was busy whoring herself out to some greaseball.

  • @GSW12345 I wish I was but I'm not. Its time to wake up and face the reality.

  • @hugoegbert Hell no im not crazy.

  • i don't care what Hitchens say. He hasn't got the right to judge to Princess Diana. The public fallen in love with her as a true future Queen. Princess Diana was murdered for good reasons from the satanic royal family and the corruption of politics and spies.

  • @19GirlBad Yeah, you don't sound crazy at all...

  • @19GirlBad I hope your joking.

  • @19GirlBad shw was not murdered, there is no evidence for this, so shuttup and go back to your trollcave

  • @19GirlBad Oh for goodness sake, it was sad she died like that, but she was not a matyr of any kind, she was just a woman, she showed her human, woman needs by shagging allsorts of different men because she had a shit husband. She would have made a terrible queen. Her mind was too modern, monarchs dont belong in the modern world.

  • I'm with Hitchens on this at least in as much as I am a Brit, was living in Britain at the time and entirely objected to the forced grieving in the media that week. The world continued to turn and events affecting lives in their millions kept happening and yet it was as though reality had been suspended. I'm pleased somebody had the platform to point this out.

  • lol near the beginin they mention 'if Mother Teresa died...' didn't she die later that same week?

  • I love Hitchens, but I do not agree with him on this subject.

Yes, Diana got attention because she was beautiful, but I also believe that if she were only just beautiful she wouldn't have been as popular as she was. There are lots of pretty women who aren't 'beloved' in the world. People saw something unique and powerful in Diana. She is probably one of the few modern women I have looked up to and which had nothing to do with physical beauty.

Now all we have is Paris Hilton trash. whoopee.

  • @xqeenx

It is conspicuous that you do not say what it was exactly that made you, and presumeably the people mourning in the streets, so fond of Diana Spencer. Of course, this is exactly HItchens's point. The regard in which she was held, and the public displays grief that her death prompted, were significantly out of proportion with what she ever did during her life. For that reason, the reactions her death prompted were worrying simply because they were so divorced from logic and reason.

  • I agree that she was imperfect and glorified but these three blowhards are not the best critiques. They only come through as misogynistic big-mouths who are only commenting on her physical beauty and calling women callers hysterical.
