@halflifeproductionz Yeah, her stuff can be fun and all, but it does get dangerously close to pop-philosophy. I think how accessible it is draws in the younger audience that typically enjoys it. I don't think it's pathetic though. Sure, it's beginner philosophy, but at least it gets people thinking. It's only when people start worshipping her like she was a modern-day Socrates when I get annoyed.
this is possibly the greatest set of videos on gaming and the deeper parts to it. I'm absolutely in love with these 10 videos and I hope that you'll do more videos about games of this sort. Thank you for talking about the deeper meaning of this amazing game!
I'm a bit disappointed you didn't comment on the propaganda banners right after you enter the "omnious door". They're a large part of the game's atmosphere, I remember the first time I got to that part of the game, I stood still for a while watching them - feeling mostly awed.
You missed the "No Gods or Kings, only Man" Statue in the first part of the game

@PulseOfTheMaggots720 Nah... Socrates is pretty bad.

@UrbyKris Well wasn't that a poignant statement. I can tell you've given this some thought.

@PulseOfTheMaggots720 Well your statment didn't really deserve a better answer.
"Yeah, her stuff can be fun and all, but it does get dangerously close to pop-philosophy"
You get a medal for the most generic and vague attack on a philosophy.

@UrbyKris Do you get one too? For being just as generic, thereby layering your comment with hilarious irony?

It's obvious that Bioshock's "Rapture" is a Rand's utopy...
You can see Atlas, now free, as a statue, and come on: "Andrew Ryan" "Ayn Rand"...
Don't have to be a genious, I wanna play this game :D

My only criticism if this video is that the intro is far too long.

Read the book that the game is loosely based on, at first for background research, but it amused me in places.

@NetMoverSitan I was sooo bored during so much of Atlas Shrugged.
Ayn Rand's writings may be influential, but dry as a bone.

@NetMoverSitan dude, its not loosely based, its detailed as fuck, everything lines up perfectly

I remember one Ayahuasca session in the Amazon and 'tuning in' on my memories of playing SystemShock II in my early teens.
At the moment I wasn't very grateful for the dystopic meta-themes the game had introduced to my mind!

Hey, it's the Chocobo theme from Final Fantasy VIII.

Don't worry, if you watch the rest of the videos I get around to it. I loved that feeling of awe too. Rapture was an amazing place.

thanks for lending credibility to games. just about every new medium is criticized as trivial when it first comes on the scene.
