Arguably her greatest song ever. Arrangement is incredible. Her voice pierces my soul like no other singer. My first wife once told me that if James Taylor ever showed up at our door and told her to go with him, she would. I told her that I had no problem with that as long as I could do the same with his wife, Carly Simon. She didn't talk to me for two weeks after that.
@sylvette323b....Why would you post such a nice song......and then completely break the mood of the piece....by "stepping on it" ( twice, no less ) with your rediculous & misplaced self-promotional bits of audio grafitti? Seems to me I've seen your artistic "vandalism" before.....either on a previous viewing of this....or another video you've posted. Put that #%&@ at the beginning or save it for the end if you must, but don't trash up the song. You must've just gotten the elec. voice toy, eh?
@195511SM I am so sorry about the "interruption" in the middle of the song. As I have been posting in my other videos...This audio file has a copyright issue, and for me to be able to post/upload, I had to put a 'stinger' in the song to discourage people in downloading mp3, illegally.
This upload is just to make people aware that there is a beautiful song by good artists, such as this one. And if interested, they can download in itunes store or amazon.com.
I fell in love with this singer-songwriter the moment I heard her music back in '71...which was an amazing year for music. I know it's hard to believe but I loved every song she released from her debut album right through Boys in the Trees. Yet there is something about Libby. I can't say why...but it is a very special tune for me. Carly, thank you for sharing. :)
This album was the first female artist's I owned at a time when I was influenced heavily by male bands. She's beautiful to listen to and to look at.....
The best track on the Another Passenger album. This song shows that Carly Simon's talent is up there with Joni Mitchell. Sadly, Carly has never been hyped as Joni. I'm a fan of both women, but it bothers me that except for winning the Oscar for Let The River Run, Carly never got the recognition she should have gotten.
@treg1980 I agree with everything you said. Carly is a "huge star" but in my opinion totally underrated as a songwriter. Although her live performances have always been few and far between, she is a first-rate live performer. One of the best evenings of my life was at The Bottom Line in 1978 when she took the stage and mesmerized this then 17 year old kid.
An absolutely beautiful song one actually had to search for as it never was a hit but really should have been for sure. My best friend and I would just listen to it over and over and over...some 50 years later, she is still my best friend and I dedicate this to her!

Isn't the Libby in the song supposed to be Libby Titus, another singer who married Donald Fagen from Steely Dan?

Wonderful choice! This is one of my favorite songs of Ms. Simon's.
It brings back memories of summertime in the 70's. Ah . . . what a blend
of voice and instruments!
Thanks!
