so what is so funny? she is okish i heard singers on stage on real production singing much much more terrible. and her technique is absolutely fine and she reach high f in the other cadentza quite well.so i dont get it where is the funny part
I tend to agree with most other comments here. The tempo was too fast. The young soprano has a fine voice and given other recital circumstances, she would do just fine. Most opera buffs would not find this performance funny.
Her voice sounds really beautiful, bu the tempo is much too fast, I agree. Not funny at all. It is a rare thing to have a voice to sing this role. Well done!
Well, besides that missing F, the rest is actually very good, the musicality, the presence on stage... c'mon, if you know this girl, please tell her that she's really good and she must keep on working to become perfect! she needs just time!
The Queen of the Night is one of the most difficult roles in all of operatic repertoire. if you think you can do better than this young lady, I'm sure we'd all be very interested to see your attempt.
So big deal. She misses the F by a half step. It's a hard F at the end of a long phrase, and yes, she needs more time for a breath before the G-F# sixteenths to ensure a safe arrival. She probably learned a valuable lesson from this performance, but you have nothing better to do with your insignificant time on earth but to post a young singer's SLIGHT mistake. Other than that one note, it's a perfectly acceptable performance, at least!
In her defense, as someone who has sung this aria many, many times - that coloratura tempo was obviously faster than she could actually sing it. You must remember that in Mozart you cannot change once you start, so if you go too bast, you are pretty much stuck.
I also don't hear what is so funny here... She did flub that one trill and then she flubbed the high F, but who hasn't done that. She nailed all the fioratura leading to it, she is obviously young, brava for her for taking a risk!
I have a feeling that brividokaldo is a very bitter mezzo... This kind of cattiness and cruelty has NO place among singers. We should support our colleagues.
Do you have a permission from them to put this on the internet ?-- what is your purpose of making fun of people who are just trying to be better?? What do you have against this woman? You love her but she doesn´t loves you? She was your girlfriend and she cheated on you? Are you a singer too but she is the beloved student of your vocal teacher? Did she makee your boyfriend break with you? I don´t know even if you are male or female.are you male and want to have her female body? You feel living on a wrong body? You are female and declared your love to her but she is not homosexual? Comm´on, read a book or go to theraphy.
It's a lovely version. I don't see what is so "funny" or odd about it. Her voice isnt "high" enough in the soprano key but it still works out great - at least for a recital like this video. For staged opera a full coloratura soprano with higher register is best. In Mozart's day, we don't know what the Queen sounded like. Josefa Hofer was the 1st. Since it was before recorded sound, we don't know how Josefa sang it but it was said she specialized in decorated coloratura trills
Whats really interesting is that when Mozart wrote that role those F's were actually a half step or so lower than they are today because the A used to tune an orchestra has risen bit by bit. We use A 440 but now some orchestras are using A 460 which would be even higher. Lets hope they stop there or no soprano could sing this role
this is a VERY difficult aria... she deserves some love for attempting it. It will get better the more she lives with the aria. She obviously has the notes and was probably just having an off night. Performers are human too. :)
I think the tempo was way too fast - which probably did not allow her enough time to breathe properly . I think she did just fine. ok she missed the F but so what? Let's all be a little kinder to young, emerging artists.
@opera46 This aria is simply technically and artistically beyond what she can do. The F was missed but there was a lot more that was wrong. There is a voice in there, but it should be singing the right repertoire to develop it. Can anyone say "Per la Gloria?
I agree with everyone else - sure the top couple of notes were not fantastic (I'm studying voice - when the time comes I'll probably die if it happens to me), but nothing to be ashamed of here.
Most sopranos who have sung Queen of the Night will not tell you it's easy. They will tell you that when you have the Queen on your repertoire, you can't really do any other major coloratura roles because of how vocally demanding it is - despite the short stage time. Hardly any coloraturas keep singing the full role for decades. It's just not possible. It's usually a few years at most, and they will move on to something else that allows them to keep their high notes for as long as possible.
um... i actually thought that was really good singing! shame about the high F, yes, but otherwise it's much better than many other performances out there.
The quality of sound on this video is so bad it's not possible to make any fair judgment. Poor soprano to be represented in this manner. And not very nice to present anyone singing anything is such a disrespectful way.
that's pretty impressive. What a beautiful voice this woman has! So the coloratura was a little sloppy and the high F was flat, oh well... brividokaldo, you are a failed, bitter soprano, aren't you?
very very shit!!!!! c'est de la merde en boite, les vocalises ne son pas tres juste!!!! et elle n'as pas fait le contre fa,elle aurai mieu fait de chanter le petit caro mio ben!!! soidisant colorature mon cul!!!
Perhaps this is not perfect, but seriously, opera is not easy to learn, it demands many many years of training untill perfection. This woman is young, and can not be expected to have reached her full potential yet. I think she is very talented!
a decir verdad no es una interpretación que tenga muchos errores, es bastante buena y su voz tiene una técnica bastante pulida, ademas tiene un muy buen caudal de voz, solo comete un error en la nota mas aguda, pero por falta de apoggio. es realmente buena!
This may not be the best performance of queen of the night. But some one would post this as funny is just an asshole. She is nervous and young, maybe not ready for this song, but that may be the fault of the teacher. She has a nice tone, which IS supported. I think there are some people leaving comments here who obviously have never sang and are just being critical because they really have no clue how to sing themselves. No its not something worthy of the met, but its not half bad.

she didn't crack on the f, she didn't breathe and was unsupported in the entire piece and the f just wasn't there. queen is not a hard role at all because you're only onstage 3 times for very short periods of time, and any coloratura soprano will tell you queen is one of the easier roles in the coloratura repertoire. she did not do it well because the runs were indistinguishable, and the voice overall was unsupported. this is a very bad performance, and so bad it's funny.
O sure the queen is a very easy part: yeah every student of a high school can sing it. Yeah Wright: NOT You idiot!!
and those 3 minutes: did you ever hear about those three minutes are difficult and high and if you dont have to sing some other things before youll have to do it straight away without a " warmup"!
Can be the queen is on stage for half an hour: depends on regie. And has to do it. kabang a difficult aria with a cold voice.
Name one. This is one of the most difficult roles out there. Anyone who can master it will have made quite an achievement. The problem here was not lack of skill;the tempo was much too fast for her and she obviously wasn't ready for this particular role.
And just because this role requires little stage time, that doesn't make it easy;there is a wide range of notes and to go through them all quickly is not particularly easy.
I agree. In fact, the less stage time you have for a role like the Queen of the Night, the HARDER it is because you'll have no time to warm-up on stage. And any singer with any sense would not be singing this aria repeatedly in the dressing rooms. It's extremely high tessitura - great way to get yourself vocally exhausted before you even appear on stage.
I don't see this as funny. I see a bad joke and feel sorry for the soprano who's represented in this way by a racist idiot.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
name some that have missed it please. anyone that should actually be singing queen, because they're right for the role, usually doesn't miss their f's especially since in singing queen the f's are in a comfortable place. so name a few.
that is a very stupid remark: the f's a re in a comfortable place. hahaha.
you certainly dont know how to sing thats for sure. high high F is never comfortable even if you are able to sing it.
the problem isnt the singer here: she will be able to do it in a few years.
so whats the problem?tempo is to fast ( pianist rushes a bit) and she takes a breath at the wrong place: has to because of the tempo. it goes wrong a few 16th before the f so she looses a bit on that and the f isnt comfortable
Funny, this is actually very good......so the top note was flat get over it, she sang all the coloratura well at quite a fast speed......the main draw back with youtube is all the armchair critics that talk out there assholes.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
see, people just focus on the top note and think that's why this is labeled as funny. it's funny because the runs are a mess, the f isn't there because the runs are a mess, and the whole thing overall is trash because she's unsupported and sounds like some kind of drugged up bird whistling itself to sleep. GET A SCORE and follow along to this, and you'll see she messes it up a lot. even if she was nervous, by the time you sing this rep you should be over that, and if not then don't sing it.
JuillHope: Do you really know if it's the young singer who wanted to sing this aria, or an over-ambitious teacher who insisted that she try? I have seen the score, and I even have a piano that I can play it on.
1) The tempo is too fast and the pianist doesn't listen to the soloist
2) Nerves diminish with experience, but never go away completely.
3) The person who posted this is an idiot who intends to humiliate the soprano for the whole world to see.
è ovviamente usato un traduttore online per questo tipo, perché vostro è italiano terrible. "digraziata" non è una parola. e che commento è maleducato e razzista.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
that doesn't make the difference whether the video poster can sing or not! stupid, plenty of amazing voice teachers can't sing half the rep they give to their students, and never could. so being a critique on a performance means they have to be able to sing it? NO. there are so many good performances of this aria, that it's easy to compare, and just from a musical standpoint it's wrong. and knowing you, another loser here, you probably can't determine which queen aria this is!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
it's not JUST the f. the coloratura was all over the place, take a look at a score. the coloratura wasn't easy, it sounds effortless because she's not supporting the coloratura so it's just rolling around between approximate notes.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
the funny part is the bad technique that makes this bad. she shoulnd not be singing queen, as it is too much for her. the coloratura passages aren't there, and neither are the high notes. it's a disgusting performance, also because there's no interpretation. she looks scared period, and even if she is: she needs to grow up. it's funny because it's so bad. if anyone thinks this is good, you need to watch better singers. watch diana damrau or someone.
JuillHope17, a) you are so full of shit that I don't really know why I'm bothering to respond to you and b) your analysis is about as amateurish as a high school choir student's. I not only have the score, but I have a baby grand that I can play it on. There is NOTHING wrong or funny about this performance. It's actually good coloratura from an amateur performer. Her technique is fine. Take your venom - which is actually far less than blabbering baby piddle - elsewhere. Done.
Well, the obvious problem was the high F at the end......it was a half tone flat. The coloratura passages were a struggle for her. Why do so many young singers feel they have to be coloratura sopranos? She may sing quite well as a lyric soprano, and not have to worry about the notes about the high C. If she can't hear that she is singing flat, then there is a pitch problem. If she can tell, and simply misses.....forget the high F. Sing only up to high D or Eb.
so what is so funny? she is okish i heard singers on stage on real production singing much much more terrible. and her technique is absolutely fine and she reach high f in the other cadentza quite well.so i dont get it where is the funny part

name some that have missed it please. anyone that should actually be singing queen, because they're right for the role, usually doesn't miss their f's especially since in singing queen the f's are in a comfortable place. so name a few.
JuillHope17 3 years ago
that is a very stupid remark: the f's a re in a comfortable place. hahaha.
you certainly dont know how to sing thats for sure. high high F is never comfortable even if you are able to sing it.
the problem isnt the singer here: she will be able to do it in a few years.
so whats the problem?tempo is to fast ( pianist rushes a bit) and she takes a breath at the wrong place: has to because of the tempo. it goes wrong a few 16th before the f so she looses a bit on that and the f isnt comfortable

lovely voice. she was probably nervous as hell and had an off night, she soudns a bit tight, but she has a lovely tone.

"lovely" meaning unsupported, then yes.

Funny, this is actually very good......so the top note was flat get over it, she sang all the coloratura well at quite a fast speed......the main draw back with youtube is all the armchair critics that talk out there assholes.

see, people just focus on the top note and think that's why this is labeled as funny. it's funny because the runs are a mess, the f isn't there because the runs are a mess, and the whole thing overall is trash because she's unsupported and sounds like some kind of drugged up bird whistling itself to sleep.

4) Video quality is too bad to be fair.

veeeeeery good point Bonnisolli.
half of those critics didnt sing a note in there whole life or want to do it but cant.
it would be very nice if 50% of the sopranos would be able to do wath the girl in the video does.
Hélas!! is maybe only 3 or 4 procent that can do it.
mr Juillhopes comments are as ridicilous like the inquisitorforever.

that doesn't make the difference whether the video poster can sing or not! stupid, plenty of amazing voice teachers can't sing half the rep they give to their students, and never could. so being a critique on a performance means they have to be able to sing it? NO. there are so many good performances of this aria, that it's easy to compare, and just from a musical standpoint it's wrong. and knowing you, another loser here, you probably can't determine which queen aria this is!
JuillHope17 3 years ago
So, she missed the high F, big deal! She has a nice vocal quality and easy coloratura. Not funny, just not a perfect performance.

it's not JUST the f. the coloratura was all over the place, take a look at a score. the coloratura wasn't easy, it sounds effortless because she's not supporting the coloratura so it's just rolling around between approximate notes.
JuillHope17 3 years ago
What the hell is so "funny" about this one, too? Do you simply have a problem with Asian singers? Or fast vibratos?

the funny part is the bad technique that makes this bad. she shoulnd not be singing queen, as it is too much for her. the coloratura passages aren't there, and neither are the high notes. it's a disgusting performance, also because there's no interpretation. she looks scared period, and even if she is: she needs to grow up. it's funny because it's so bad. if anyone thinks this is good, you need to watch better singers. watch diana damrau or someone.
