i love this song it makes me sad that Hawaiians are almost all gone and I was born and raised on Oahu and every year it looks and acts more like the mainland please ke akua don't let the kings and queens come back and see this they will die all over again
My fiancee, Trevor Souza, was from Hawaii. We were supposed to come to Hawaii, May 2011, for his nieces high school graduation. We couldn't make it. Trevor passed away March 25,2011. I have never been to Hawaii, but would love to visit Trevors homeland! RIP Trevor, you are finally back home! I will love you forever!!!
This song is simply powerful. I feel the depths of the meaning in every strum, in every line, in every note, every time I hear this song. I wonder if this song reaches out to everyone who lives in Hawai'i. If it could reach the people who repressed our culture for business profit and development. I am ashamed at what Hawai'i has come to, so I soak in everything that is still here everyday. The beauty that remains, the culture, the language, and the history. Beautiful mele...
The song is beautiful but so sad. I read up recently on Queen Lili'uokalani and it's just terrible the way the US treated her in taking the kingdom of Hawaii from her and turning Hawaii into a territory.. She basically got screwed over because of the selfish actions of the businessmen, the 1% of her day.
A well-done video to a song that has so much mana, so much power and such an important story to tell. It has never been done better than when Skippy sang it na ka pu`uwai, from his heart and his soul. Thirty two years later what has changed? Mahalo for the video and for keeping this message and song alive and vibrant.

Mahalo Auntie for such kind words. People do not relaize how much time something like this takes.
I really believe this is the type of song that one can remember exactly where you were when you first heard it.
This song has deep heart and soul attached to it and its meaning and the Mana is so present.
Thank you kind people for being a part of my creation.
