This isn't funny.  The French and Saunders take on Pet Shop Boys is the best one, followed closely by Flight of the Conchords. Those are both funny and very clever. This one is just dumb.

There are way better parodies. It's very pee and poo kind of thing. Not really smart. They have captured music style, but text are a piece of piss and ridiculous. Even me can write this kind of crap lyrics. Very a torture. But the soldier is a bit funny.

A few problems.

1- This is not a parody. It might qualify as a roast, but not a parody.

2- This uses images BY the artist and is musically far short of anything PSB has done since 1984... at which time they were cutting edge. They have advanced.

3- IF there is humor here it's the kind of jock humor that delights in putting others down with little basis. And it's not a good example of that either. If you want a good example of that watch early seasons of Red Dwarf.

And since the late 90s, even the few singles that make the top 20 instantly within one week fall out of the charts. The diehards are a strong fan base and buy it, but then that's it. Are you familiar with the overall output of the Pet Shop Boys? I believe what acclaim they are given is generally quite justified. I also point out that statements in the sogn are contradictory; they are.

The people who don't like the criticism are missing the point. If we don't watch it, that doesn't stop it existing. We criticize it because its point seems to be more about making spiteful, ignorant digs that it encourages the viewer to agree with than actually being funny. It just shows up her lack of knowledge of PSB's work. There's nothing else to it apart from a bad imitation of a Pet Shop Boys video and backing track. Parodies work better when you have more knowledge of the subject.
