To me I personally think Jeff would be to much for the average listener to be able to comprehend his brilliance. What I mean is although music is subjective. There are far to many musical illiterates in this world to get him, but I do and that's the beauty of him is that I get his greatness, the very highest.
@MuthaFunkaMatt77 Somebody else may have a better answer, but IMO, neither ... I suspect it's a "rarity," either an outtake from "Grace" or an early demo, etc. He does, however, sing a similar version of this song on "Live at Sine," the live album he did before "Grace." It's also really good ... the entire album is, actually. Just Jeff and his guitar ...
@october1560 That was Bagdad Cafe. I think of it often. I relate to it. It's one of my favorite movies of all time! The woman leaves home with a suitcase and ends up as a waitress who meets the artist? Help me? I'm an artists sometimes and, dream of packing up my shit and going to a Bagdad Cafe.
after i started listening to Jeff, to me, music isn't the same.. life isn't the same. somehow i can't stop thinking about jeff singing someone like you by adele...
Buckely's creations were intoxicating, haunting & authentic! I hope that he is in a place that comforts his magical, generous soul. You are missed by many ... but you will always live on in our hearts! RIP <3
sorry but i am a mean person when it comes to music .....and there can be no comparison between such emotion from jeff buckley and any airbrushed attempt by SUBO! as our riotous newspapers call her
@youngalistairyou I sooooo agree with you! I'm like you, about music I could bite if something sacrilegious was said. But here it's too much, it's above anger, I just can't stop laughing when it comes to compare Susan Boyle to Jeff Buckley... And I just talk about the voice, seriously, it's like comparing Seal to Sam Cooke! Oh man! I've got tears in my eyes!
Just imagine if we had 10 albums worth of Jeff Buckley material, gracious God that would have been wonderful. I mean I've been utterly affected by this man and his 2 albums for 16 years now.
Cette chanson est déjà en soi un mystère de perfection; chantée par Jeff Buckley, on dirait que ça vient de l'espace qui nous entoure... c'est vraiment magique
Imagine if when Jeff was alive and you were his buddy and having a hard time with life or whatever and Jeff picked up his guitar and sang to you. It would definately have an impact on you.
I don't know why people are unhappy about the choice of Reeve Carney. I don't think they could've picked anyone better. Check out his video 'I Think of You', it's amazing.
I think Cillian Murphy would be a better choice to play Buckley in a movie, as he looks like him and also is a musician. I don't know if James Franco is a musician, and even though he does look like Jeff, I think Cillian Murphy also looks like Jeff and his disposition would be better suited for portraying him.
Yeah, James Franco would have been a great choice. They were considering Robert Pattison from f*cking Twilight... I hate that film and him so I hope they don't choose him...
When I first heard Jeff yrs ago, it was like a bolt of lightening hit me that was the voice I'd been waiting to hear my whole life. Instint love! When he passed I felt my throat was cut. Jeff Buckley was all I ever needed! I'm a guy but if I knew him I would of been his greatest groupie without the sex, cause were not gay. Jeff want me to carry your equipment, buy you dinner, drive you here and there, take you home after a gig, no problem! I woulda been to every one if he let me.
@nat00ben06 Exactly, jeff's voice is the voice i have been wiating to hear my whole life dude.. Perfectly smooth and imperfect. His voice is beautifull sounds like.

He did the Holly Cole version. I guess he was inspired by her vocals. Too bad, unlike Holly, his voice breaks in the long notes. But he did have a pretty voice.
Hey everyone, I just started my own music channel and have done a couple covers of Jeff Buckley. Please check it out sometime and let me know what you think! It would be much appreciated. Long live Jeff Buckley.
@BornThrice It's the theme song from a 1987 Movie: Bagdad Cafe written by Bob Telson. Originally sung (in the movie) by Jevetta Steele, it was later covered by Barbra Streisand. Both have the haunting harmonica theme performed by Will Galison. Jeff Buckley has a nice version but you really have to hear the original and then Streisand's version with the original harmonicist. Jeff Buckley changes it a bit too much. Many others (mostly women) recorded it too from Celine Dion to Patty Austin.
You can never change a cover too much if it still sounds good. This sounds just magnificant. Another song made out of one song. All of Buckleys covers are ussually drastically different than their originals.
as a famous performer myself i asked the heavens and jeffs spirit for a little of his vocal ability so you tube Andrew j Bohman and see for yourself t h e song close your eyes
This song has saved my life. There are no words that can truly express my gratitude towards you Mr. Buckley. You were a piercing light in a world of darkness. Your presence is missed more than you could have ever known.
I am right there with ya man. I had lost all faith in people when I was a teenager. Found Mr. Buckley here about a year ago... compleatly changed my life. I was broken and thought I could never be fixed. Smashed to peices with no glue. Jeff figured out a way to put me back together and, he didn't even know it. Years after he had died he saved some lonely kids life.
@LetMeFlag There's something about Jeff ... I think you find him when you need him. I was going though a similar hard time, personally and professionally, and the same thing happened. I had this voice in the back of my head from "Hallelujah," but when I found who the voice belonged to, and heard the rest of Jeff's work, everything changed. For the definite better. Glad to hear that you're doing well now, too ...
@zuppinger99 You are a genius. that's so right. They look so much alike and James Franco is a great actor, he could pull it off for sure. I would love that movie if they did it right. Great idea
@zuppinger99 you know what that just made me realize... that maybe that's why James Franco catches my eye because he looks like Jeff!! totally makes sense.
@zuppinger99 You should see the guy they cast as him in the Upcoming (2013) movie about his life, 'Mystery White Boy'. Guys name is Reeve Carney - i think he looks eerily like Jeff.
@31thief The Carney guy does look similar too. Plus he can sing. Maybe that's why he get's the nod over James Franco. I think Franco has a vulnerability to him that would add to the character and portrayal of Jeff. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
I'm not exactly sure if this is a studio version or not. If you've never heard the one on the Live at Sin-é Legacy Edition, I would strongly suggest it. The sound quality is terrific! I love this version a lot too.
I was so sad the day you died. I felt gut-punched and I just couldn't believe it. Why?... I guess "The Man" had bigger plans for you. Understood. Rest easy, brother.
@delysse68 Thanks, seen that album but would like this studio version on download or cd as this youtube posting, no disrespect, is a bit wobbly unless that's as good as a reproduction gets. already have Grace and my Sweetheart plus live DVD.
@delysse68 I have Line at Sin-é and it's not the same :( Still mindblowing, but not the same :p Is there a difference between the legacy and normal? I guess so. Cheers
@matthen13 hey there - i believe the legacy ed is the double CD set, as oppossed to his EP - being under the 'legacy' side of the label (columbia) puts Jeff in the same category as Dylan etc. (don't quote me!). I hear what you're saying about it not being the same, but I truly believe that any recording of Jeff, perfect or not, is a gift to the world. And, indeed a legacy.
There are days when I really wish I would have been able to grow up listening to this mans voice. I would have absolutely killed to have seen him perform. He will forever be my favorite singer of all time.
@Watari2TheRescue It's worse to know you were an hour from where he performed live and didn't know about him. I could blame the radio stations, but ... I won't. I just wish I'd been there.
It's in his album "grace". But it was a cover a a song sung by Jevetta Steele of the Steele family of gospel singers... for the sountrack of a great little movie from the mid-eighties called "Bagdad Café". You should check it out, it was very special :-)
This noise is the second most beautiful sound i have ever heard, it sits next to when my two year old boy says "daddy" ... Such a joy to listen too!!!
Heys guys if you like this you should also check out Tangent Transmission! I found out about them not too long ago and they're great. They remind me of Jeff Buckley a bit!!
To me I personally think Jeff would be to much for the average listener to be able to comprehend his brilliance. What I mean is although music is subjective. There are far to many musical illiterates in this world to get him, but I do and that's the beauty of him is that I get his greatness, the very highest.

This song is one of his bests.
It just blows me away.
Goodness Jeff, you could only imagine the way you move people.
You have your eternal life. I will never forget you.

@LetMeFlag
But it's not his song. All though we surely can agree that it is one of the best versions.
It's originally from the movie "Bagdad Café" .
But no, we will never forget Jeff. He lives on in our hearts
