  • To me I personally think Jeff would be to much for the average listener to be able to comprehend his brilliance. What I mean is although music is subjective. There are far to many musical illiterates in this world to get him, but I do and that's the beauty of him is that I get his greatness, the very highest.

  • Jeff superas todo lo inimaginable :)

  • is this song on an album or is it a b-side to a single?

  • @MuthaFunkaMatt77 Somebody else may have a better answer, but IMO, neither ... I suspect it's a "rarity," either an outtake from "Grace" or an early demo, etc. He does, however, sing a similar version of this song on "Live at Sine," the live album he did before "Grace." It's also really good ... the entire album is, actually. Just Jeff and his guitar ...

  • is this song on an album or is it a b-side to a single?

  • I remember what this is now. The Diner in the desert. Help me here Cafe what? So cool this movie.

  • @october1560 That was Bagdad Cafe. I think of it often. I relate to it. It's one of my favorite movies of all time! The woman leaves home with a suitcase and ends up as a waitress who meets the artist? Help me? I'm an artists sometimes and, dream of packing up my shit and going to a Bagdad Cafe.

  • Bravo, excellent, astonishing...why do the best always leave us so soon?

  • this song makes me want to learn to play guitar so i can just sing it all the time

  • after i started listening to Jeff, to me, music isn't the same.. life isn't the same. somehow i can't stop thinking about jeff singing someone like you by adele...

  • 40 people with no ears trolling youtube it seems.

  • @98moshi...that's right , it's my favorite Song ;)

  • He sang with so much soul..

  • puta q son buenos estos weones

  • la belleza de su canto es parecida a la de los sueños, el se fue como en un sueño pero los que aun vivimos no dejaremos de soñarlo nunca....

  • Buckely's creations were intoxicating, haunting & authentic! I hope that he is in a place that comforts his magical, generous soul. You are missed by many ... but you will always live on in our hearts! RIP <3

  • fucking silence, please

  • sorry but i am a mean person when it comes to music .....and there can be no comparison between such emotion from jeff buckley and any airbrushed attempt by SUBO! as our riotous newspapers call her

  • @youngalistairyou I sooooo agree with you! I'm like you, about music I could bite if something sacrilegious was said. But here it's too much, it's above anger, I just can't stop laughing when it comes to compare Susan Boyle to Jeff Buckley... And I just talk about the voice, seriously, it's like comparing Seal to Sam Cooke! Oh man! I've got tears in my eyes!

  • I found out about him because of his father. I love the way the guitar sounds.. has anyone found what recording this is on?

  • @Tengent I found out about his father because of him, they're both awesome!!

  • @Tengent me too, & i went looking for jevetta & found this & want to just lay me down down down, u know.....so glad i did, last year maybe.

  • theres only a few people that can do it...........so forget it susan boil

  • @youngalistairyou - at least get her name right - it's Boyle or did you just mean to be mean....

  • Pure perfection!

  • your voice ♥ love it so much :). never heard such wonderful song ♥.♥

  • if there is a God, I envy him just because he can still hear him sing

  • RIP JEFF

  • Just imagine if we had 10 albums worth of Jeff Buckley material, gracious God that would have been wonderful. I mean I've been utterly affected by this man and his 2 albums for 16 years now.

  • Oh! Wonderful!

  • It's not even fair someone can have such beauty in mind, body, and talent

  • Sooooo BEAUTIFUL brought me 2 tears!!

  • Dare I say, better than the original?

  • how did he record the guitar? sounds like a recording from 1945. the voice is clear but the guitar sounds so old

  • to correct myself, its actually like the home recordings jimi hendrix did of several songs

  • Imagine if when Jeff was alive and you were his buddy and having a hard time with life or whatever and Jeff picked up his guitar and sang to you. It would definately have an impact on you.

  • @nat00ben06 It would be nice. :)

  • I don't know why people are unhappy about the choice of Reeve Carney. I don't think they could've picked anyone better. Check out his video 'I Think of You', it's amazing.

  • i got shivers and creeps... how much voice of yours did the world loose? how much of your gentle fantasy? Cannot think about it..

  • Lui e le sue ansie mai nascoste cantate con una voce Unica che graffia l'anima.. Jeff ci manchi.. Solo dopo sappiamo apprezzare quanto siamo Idioti..

  • What a hauntingly beautiful song and oooh that voice, pierces my soul.

  • Haunting song.... incredible music!!

  • Ama sen nasıl birşeysin böyle :(

  • this song is like a knife in my heart

  • It's too bad Heath Ledger passed because he could have been perfect to play Jeff....look at pics of him, it's amazing!

  • @wesdan126 Heath Ledger was about 50 lbs to heavy. Jeff was a cool 130 lb.

  • @wesdan126 James franco should play him

  • que linda sensación la de escuchar una vos tan hermosa por primera vez.

  • Must be one of the ultimate male vocal pieces ever!

  • What voice !!! What a loss !!! Rest In Peace Jeff .

  • I thought that was James Franco hahaha looks so similar

  • Goosebumps!

  • that is SUM rendition...

  • I think Cillian Murphy would be a better choice to play Buckley in a movie, as he looks like him and also is a musician. I don't know if James Franco is a musician, and even though he does look like Jeff, I think Cillian Murphy also looks like Jeff and his disposition would be better suited for portraying him.

  • All my blood for the loveliness of his voice !

  • @Jasonreees in lover you shouldve come over he said all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter

  • @Jasonreees where u at?!

  • SO BEAUTIFUL!

  • Where's this version from? A bootleg compilation or something?

  • Questa canzone, mi rilassa un sacco

  • fuck james franco

  • fuck jeff buckley biopics, people should just listen to his music. I KNOW Jeff would absolutely be disgusted over these films.

  • @trwc1980 You couldn't have said it better.

  • Yeah, James Franco would have been a great choice. They were considering Robert Pattison from f*cking Twilight... I hate that film and him so I hope they don't choose him...

  • Jeff, sei fantastico! Quel po' di sangue italiano che sta nelle tue vene si sente tanto!

  • @guitar529 Looks like someone else got the job! Too bad...that's Hollywood for you.

On the upside at least its not Tom Cruise!!!

  • I regret that the good die young!

  • When I first heard Jeff yrs ago, it was like a bolt of lightening hit me that was the voice I'd been waiting to hear my whole life. Instint love! When he passed I felt my throat was cut. Jeff Buckley was all I ever needed! I'm a guy but if I knew him I would of been his greatest groupie without the sex, cause were not gay. Jeff want me to carry your equipment, buy you dinner, drive you here and there, take you home after a gig, no problem! I woulda been to every one if he let me.

  • @nat00ben06 Exactly, jeff's voice is the voice i have been wiating to hear my whole life dude.. Perfectly smooth and imperfect. His voice is beautifull sounds like.

  • bUENA

  • John Lennon was amazing, Jimi Hendrix was incredible, but Jeff Buckley is the one artist that I wish was still alive today, we miss you Jeff

  • @jpa170478 Tired comment

  • I am trapped here. I have no where to go. No place to hide.

You are my shining star seen through the dense foliage of the forest.

You are my wings on this lonesome vast road.

You are my shepard and this world is our pasture. The people, our wolves.

    Thank you, Jeff.

  • @LetMeFlag great

  • Before it was a pure drop in an OCEAN OF NOISE, now the best voice in the sky...the best voice of the angels of heaven. thanks jeff :)

  • wow this guy is awesome

  • crazy, just brilliant!!!!

  • I calling you ma belle.

  • Jeff Died May 29th 1997, There's no comparison to anyone's voice when it comes to Jeff.. Clean the shit out of your ears... no One will ever compare to Jeff. RIP sweet music man

  • He did the Holly Cole version. I guess he was inspired by her vocals. Too bad, unlike Holly, his voice breaks in the long notes. But he did have a pretty voice.

  • The best reason and most logical reason I heard as to why jeff had to leave us is because heaven wanted to keep that voice all to themselves.

you will be forever missed. :(

  • mind-blowing !!!

  • hes a cutie pie with an amazing voice!:) too bad his talent is gone:/

  • Je préfère tout de même la version originale...

  • This song wants me to call out to this long distance love I have.

  • To muzyka, to muzyka Jeffa wypełnia mój świat...

  • kokoo120 Please tell us where you got this song. We can't find it from any album.

  • @BornThrice

This song isn't on an album. Its live with Gods and Monsters in 1995 I believe.

  • @LetMeFlag Ok thanks

  • @BornThrice It's the theme song from a 1987 Movie: Bagdad Cafe written by Bob Telson. Originally sung (in the movie) by Jevetta Steele, it was later covered by Barbra Streisand. Both have the haunting harmonica theme performed by Will Galison. Jeff Buckley has a nice version but you really have to hear the original and then Streisand's version with the original harmonicist. Jeff Buckley changes it a bit too much. Many others (mostly women) recorded it too from Celine Dion to Patty Austin.

  • @ElizabethGS Paul Young also covered it with Stevie Wonder on harmonica.

  • @ElizabethGS

You can never change a cover too much if it still sounds good. This sounds just magnificant. Another song made out of one song. All of Buckleys covers are ussually drastically different than their originals.

  • sick

  • as a famous performer myself i asked the heavens and jeffs spirit for a little of his vocal ability so you tube Andrew j Bohman and see for yourself t h e song close your eyes

  • Which album is this on?

  • @yera202 none

  • @yera202 there is a live version though on the live at sin e album though

  • This song has saved my life. There are no words that can truly express my gratitude towards you Mr. Buckley. You were a piercing light in a world of darkness. Your presence is missed more than you could have ever known.

  • @kenmxalot147

I am right there with ya man. I had lost all faith in people when I was a teenager. Found Mr. Buckley here about a year ago... compleatly changed my life. I was broken and thought I could never be fixed. Smashed to peices with no glue. Jeff figured out a way to put me back together and, he didn't even know it. Years after he had died he saved some lonely kids life.

  • @LetMeFlag There's something about Jeff ... I think you find him when you need him. I was going though a similar hard time, personally and professionally, and the same thing happened. I had this voice in the back of my head from "Hallelujah," but when I found who the voice belonged to, and heard the rest of Jeff's work, everything changed. For the definite better. Glad to hear that you're doing well now, too ...

  • Such a beautiful, simple and clean version. Perfect, just like him.

  • 31 n'aiment pas... On me dit comment c'est possible ?.?

  • I think that James Franco should play Jeff Buckley in a movie.

  • @zuppinger99 I was wondering who I knew who looked like him and your comment answered me :P

  • @zuppinger99 I thought so too but it's already been cast that Penn Badely is going to play Jeff

  • @AllNighter021 Just looked up that Penn guy. He doesn't look like Jeff at all. Ahhhh Hollywood?!

  • @zuppinger99 I know!! James Franco should have been the clear cut choice...

  • @zuppinger99 You are a genius. that's so right. They look so much alike and James Franco is a great actor, he could pull it off for sure. I would love that movie if they did it right. Great idea

  • @guitar5289 You can Google Jeff Buckley movie and find that three are in the works, none with James Franco although I dig James Franco>

  • @zuppinger99 That's what I'm saying haha

  • @zuppinger99 you know what that just made me realize... that maybe that's why James Franco catches my eye because he looks like Jeff!! totally makes sense.

  • @zuppinger99 You should see the guy they cast as him in the Upcoming (2013) movie about his life, 'Mystery White Boy'. Guys name is Reeve Carney - i think he looks eerily like Jeff.

  • @31thief The Carney guy does look similar too. Plus he can sing. Maybe that's why he get's the nod over James Franco. I think Franco has a vulnerability to him that would add to the character and portrayal of Jeff. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

  • RIP gorgeous xx

  • la voix d un ange ! dommage que ce soit vrai

  • I hear you...

  • même mort il continue de nous faire apprécier sa musique

  • i absolutely love this guy.. whenever i am sad i just listen to his music and it seems like he's sharing with me all my sadness... i love you!

  • my lullaby :)

  • This song, sung by Jeff, is such an awesome mood-maker. Transfixes, and sends one on a reverie!

  • How could anyone hit 'dislike'???

  • love thi sfirst tim ei heard . nice too bad he's gone.

  • I'm not exactly sure if this is a studio version or not. If you've never heard the one on the Live at Sin-é Legacy Edition, I would strongly suggest it. The sound quality is terrific! I love this version a lot too.

  • I mean no disrespect towards Jeff, but Javeeta Steele's is the absolute best version.

  • He sang and played the guitar as Joni Mitchell.

  • wow.

  • I was so sad the day you died. I felt gut-punched and I just couldn't believe it. Why?... I guess "The Man" had bigger plans for you. Understood. Rest easy, brother.

  • Really nice , i like it

  • lovely

  • He looks soooo like his dad in this photograph!

  • I'm trying to locate this version to either download (good quality) or buy on CD. anyone point me in the right direction?

  • @dusk7277 Live at Sin-é - it's on this album. Buy it and your life will be changed forever.

  • @delysse68 Thanks, seen that album but would like this studio version on download or cd as this youtube posting, no disrespect, is a bit wobbly unless that's as good as a reproduction gets. already have Grace and my Sweetheart plus live DVD.

  • @delysse68 I have Line at Sin-é and it's not the same :( Still mindblowing, but not the same :p Is there a difference between the legacy and normal? I guess so. Cheers

  • @matthen13 hey there - i believe the legacy ed is the double CD set, as oppossed to his EP - being under the 'legacy' side of the label (columbia) puts Jeff in the same category as Dylan etc. (don't quote me!). I hear what you're saying about it not being the same, but I truly believe that any recording of Jeff, perfect or not, is a gift to the world. And, indeed a legacy.

  • @delysse68 I don't disagree, in fact, every recording of Jeff was perfect :)

  • he's so charismatic and seductive it is always those who are talented who go too early.

  • one of my favourite songs sung by one of my favourite singers, doesnt get much better

  • I love him..

  • God what a beautiful voice...so speechless right now

  • absolutely beautiful

  • Fantastic !!! RIP Jeff.

  • I, somehow, wish that he has a secret child somewhere, which is just turning 15 or something - the other 'mystery white boy' waiting to be discovered

  • While I prefer the Jevetta Steele original (and love the movie Bagdad Cafe), this is a gorgeous recording.

  • There are days when I really wish I would have been able to grow up listening to this mans voice. I would have absolutely killed to have seen him perform. He will forever be my favorite singer of all time.

  • @Watari2TheRescue It's worse to know you were an hour from where he performed live and didn't know about him. I could blame the radio stations, but ... I won't. I just wish I'd been there.

  • sometimes i wonder if i was born at the wrong time

jeff buckley...my soulmate...at least his voice...it's so calming and smooth

  • it's the only song that can make me cry :)

  • At 1:18 onwards wow what a feel.....damn jeff you never should have left us. :(((

  • heart hurts

  • nyan cat

  • incredible

  • this is absolutely beautiful..speecheless

  • It's in his album "grace". But it was a cover a a song sung by Jevetta Steele of the Steele family of gospel singers... for the sountrack of a great little movie from the mid-eighties called "Bagdad Café". You should check it out, it was very special :-)

  • Thanks Jeff....

  • how have i never heard this song ? does anyone know what album this is off?

  • This noise is the second most beautiful sound i have ever heard, it sits next to when my two year old boy says "daddy" ... Such a joy to listen too!!!

  • I don't get how jeff could not have made this song. Fits him so great

  • Love the sin-e part when he's like "Coffee machine that nEEEEds so-whoooa wrong note..lemme try that again."

  • oh fuck..... great voice.... omg....

  • waw!

  • Perfect.

  • fuck the naysayers...they suck...PERIOD!

  • This song is one of his bests.

    It just blows me away.

Goodness Jeff, you could only imagine the way you move people.

You have your eternal life. I will never forget you.

  • you never knew him to foget him i guess

  • @LetMeFlag

But it's not his song. All though we surely can agree that it is one of the best versions.

It's originally from the movie "Bagdad Café" .

But no, we will never forget Jeff. He lives on in our hearts

  • @LetMeFlag it's a cover :/

  • @Fjord76 Yes, its a cover done with Gods and Monsters... The original is on a movie called Bagdad Cafe.

  • hay 27 a los que no les gusta que les llamen

  • oh man this guy has got to be one of the best singers EVER

  • Just started listening to him and I love him!

  • jeff is an angel, please reserve the rip for the miserable mortal we are

<3 star wherever you might be glad to be overthere *
