@BeantownJim He didn't do that. Private companies did because they're greedy bastards who don't care about America :) But hey, they should be able to go where labor is cheap...capitalism and everything, right?
@LemonCrushMusic Shall I start with NAFTA or CAFTA or his cronies involvement in the houseing market? Shall i add G,Soros to that list or ACORN? or Sen Kerry's investment in Africa for $3 million for washers and dryers. The list is long real long!
@BeantownJim Dude, NAFTA and CAFTA were created by George Bush I. George Soros is a huge capitalist. Do you have something against success? ACORN is little organization. WTF do they have to do with the White House or government in general? Because Obama defended this in a court of law. I got news for ya dude, lawyers follow money, not the cause.
@kgfareal Whats funny is that what the US government DOES(not spends) for Americans is minimal comapred to other western nations yet it is going bankrupt and is unprepared for the future. Republicans refuse to have tax hikes so how can they possibly deal deficits of today nevermind the rising oil prices/natural disasters/terrorist of the future.
>>>the American people are just as stupid as we Germans were about 70 years ago. Good luck USA.>>>
I live in the USA, and you're right! 1/2 of America was STUPID to elect this man. STUUUUUUPID! They obviously couldn't understand the English language when Obama warned them, "We are 5 days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America," as they all cheered like a cult following their leader.
@pjkinann Would you want president Pailin (Mccain dies of the stress of presidency) to deal with all the issues America is facing, do you want America to wait another 4 years. America had the choice between near anarchy and ideas Americans thought would never be applied here.
@pjkinann How very true. During this whole Obama episode - from before the election till now - my brothers and I were saying that we're living in 1930s Germany.
@Jonno2summit That isn't really true. In 1930's Germany you had WAY more unemployed and way more inflation because Germany just shit all thier money away on WW1 and lost. On top of that, they elected a dictator who then proceeeded to disarms citizens and start scapegoating jews. The United States is in bad shape but we're not even at a level near the US great depression, let alone people eating dogs like they did in Germany.
@pjkinann You are literally retarded if you think America is okay in it's current system. Here's a hint dude, CORPORATE WELFARE AND FIGHTING WARS ON BORROWED MONEY IS KILLING US. If you think that that doesn't need to be changed, you really aren't qualified to be discussing the topic.
I am not taking your pie, I am giving your pie to me. And when you run out of pie, we will give Bill Gates pie to us. Bullshit 2009. So true it hurts.
@wesjo2002 Whatever gets more pie, US is so right wing the pie actually shrinks! You can't count on Paris Hilton to create jobs because she already has all the money needed. Eventually you need people who don't have money to start saving and make investment in their new businesses.
I feel sorry for the next person voted as President, that's if their opposed to what Obama is doing. They are going to have a lot oh shit to clean up, cuz he is shitting all over this nation.
@jarbon5 How? He's doing the same shit presidents have been doing since the Reagan. And the next guy will continue that tradition we (the regualr citizens) have been "enjoying" for the past 30 years.
His logic is flawless....take from those who pay taxes and give to those who don't...You have to commend him, he managed to rouse the worthless unemployed layabouts to actually get up and vote.
@srv2be88 How much, exactly do you think he's gonna raise taxes on the top 1% of earners in the US? Here's a hint: It's not EVEN CLOSE to how much Reagan or Nixon raised them :) Don't worry little one, Obama is going to continue babying the rich as he always has. BTW, why are you upset about taking a tiny amount from the rich and giving it to regular people, but not upset when they take YOUR money and give it to the rich (a la Reagan/Bush/Obama)
little one? imbecile, attacking a position I didn't even take. but since you bring it up, reagan reduced marginal rate to 50% from 70%. Even withlater increase there was a net reduction. He didn’t rescind the marginal cuts, and lowered the rates again in 1986 overhaul that traded rate reductions for the elimination of individual tax preferences. By end of term, the top marginal rate had been dropped to 28%. btw, your band sucks, u should have stayed in school...Juris Doctorate 2012
@srv2be88 Yes. FIFTY PERCENT. Obama is proposing raising it by 4.6% to a grand total of 39.4% top rate. Still lower the Reagan's 50. Way lower than Nixon's 70. And a shit load lower than Eisenhower's 91. So again, what is Obama doing wrong in your eyes? He's keeping taxes low, what's the problem with that? What band?
@LemonCrushMusic, If you had read what I wrote you would see that the top marginal rate was reduced to 28% by end of 2nd term. The word "lower" does not mean the same thing as "low". What O has done wrong, for starters, triple the deficit (the amount we are spending over GDP, this is not the same as the debt), social medicine, useless stimulus...
A nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle."
@srv2be88 And Bush's tax rate (which is still in effect) is 35%. Higher than Reagan's alleged 28%. Stimulus created construction jobs in my state. Helped fix runways at the airport where I work.
@LemonCrushMusic Irrelevant, you said Reagan raised taxes which you have now admitted is not true. Second, your analogy to Costa rican healthcare is erroneous. Name one efficient governmental agency? lastly, you are mistaken on the jobs bill, it funds public sector jobs. Your rhetoric about employers of us citizens and middle class families means nothing, its still a jobs bill for the public sector, eg unions, which are the blight of the american economy.
@srv2be88 FACT: End of Reagan's first term, tax rate was 50%. It's funny you bring up efficiency. If anything, govt healthcare will boost private sector healthcare. See post office and UPS relationship. And no, I'm not wrong about the bill. Even RUSH LIMBAUGH admitted it was primary tax cuts of US citizen employers and middle class. It wasn't a "jobs bill" at all. It's a buzz phrase that sounds nice. Has nothing to do with the content of said bill. Why did republicans shoot down tax cuts?
@LemonCrushMusic the end of his first term, he was a 2 term president at which point taxes were 28%. And you keep repeating the same thing about US citizen employers, that doesnt change the fact that its for the public sector.
@LemonCrushMusic you use the postal service as an example when the USPS is no longer commercially provident and there are talks of closing it down. So you're saying we need to spend 3 trillion immediately and then countless more government dollars over the years sustaining a government program for the 50 million people without health insurance to improve efficiency in the private healthcare sector, isnt that the point of competition in the market place?
@srv2be88 No dude, pay attention. I'm using USPS as an example of when the government organization starts to fail, it's private sector counterpart (UPS/FedEx) gets a huge boost in business. Same would happen if the govt. got involved in healthcare. Of course it would suck...but private docs would get a boost.
And we could TOTALLY AFFORD a 3trillion dollar spending if we didn't have troops everywhere except home, and gave free money to every goddamn country in the world.
@srv2be88 As for "social medicine" don't you think we should have better quality of healthcare than Costa Rica? I do. Let's not forget Bush Sr. conceptualized "social medicine" back when he was Ronnie's VP. There's no reason to demonize public funded healthcare. I'm sure you have no problem with paying for insurance against crime (cops), terrorism (military), or fires (fire dept).
FWIW, Obama's last "jobs bill" consisted of tax cuts for employers of US citizens and middle class families.
Still one thing more, fellow citizens -- a wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government.
I travelled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer. In short, you offered a premium for the encouragement of idleness, and you should not now wonder that it has had its effect in the increase of poverty.
Benjamin Franklin The Encouragement of Idleness 1766
It's like listening to Castro or Lenin. I can't believe how gullible Americans are for following him. He's a Socialist! Socialism is not American, Mr. Obama. It goes against everything we've always believed in. Don't work hard, don't strive to better yourself, just be content with mediocrity and the gov't will take care of you. That is not the America of the last 200+ years. The fact that Americans are falling for it in droves shows that we're no smarter than the Germans of 1933.
In any case, your assertion that socialism is not American ignores the socialist policies that have gotten us out of all major economic crises in this country. The economic crisis we're in is due in major part to deregulation and blind faith in the free market to solve all problems, but it turns out when you tell mortgage companies they can do whatever they want, they push policies that lead to the collapse of the financial sector.
Socialist countries operate fine and have extremely low unemployment and fantastic benefits for workers, but regardless, Obama's policies are far from socialist, and this Joe the Plumber business has gone completely haywire. If we took McCain at single, isolated quotes the way you're taking Obama at his, we would have to believe that he thinks Iraq and Pakistan share a border, or that he believes taxing the rich is a great idea. Look it up, he said it all.
Man, people need to go to school and learn about political ideologies of the 20th century. When people say that Obama is a socialist, it makes me laugh. Obama perfectly described what he wants in two words: Common Sense.
Obama makes me wish I was American so I could vote for him.
