  • James Dean Bradfield is a fucking machine. It was only when I saw them play last year and whilst the support band were playing I noticed him at the side of the stage eating a bag of crisps that I finally realised he is in fact....human.

  • love it. people still arguing about the manics. either way. an all time highlight set at reading festival.

  • that was such a brilliant day!

  • my mum couldnt understand me as a 12 year old liking this shit, and my dad thought i was a fucking weirdo, then one day my mum made me stick this on and pogo'd with me. i'll always respect her for sticking up for me and going fucking nuts to it in our living room. im now 31 and have seen manics 15 times. i remember richey at all my early gigs and nickys smile. i still fucking love em today. god bless you lads. you made my youth. float, halifax, west yorkshire

  • Hi I'm Nicky Wire and the only way to play a Bass is by slapping it. :P

  • Pub rock?

  • no motown wasnt junk and this sounds like pub rock

  • @stankler I think when they say it's "junk" it's not about the quality of the music, it's more about the concept of exploiting artists to do sour soulless pop music and from a very young age. They are not wrong, and this is by no means pub rock : sound quality is not good. Listen to more manic street preachers and you'll discover what real lyrics are : even after being bought by big companies they still put what they want in their songs, not like most of the other so called "political" bands.

  • @stankler no you're wrong, motown was/is junk - pub rock all the way!

  • @Libertinedreamful

Let face it. Motown was better than any of the shit that was out in the 60s and 70s.

  • @Terramax are you sure about that?? There was The beatles, kinks, hendrix, the who, stooges, bowie, T rex zeppelin, queen, cooper, pistols, the clash, the damned, the ramones, joan jett and a whole lot of other truly amazing artists yet you think motown is better. ...lol

  • @Libertinedreamful

And for everyone one of those artists mentioned, you had about 50 shitty white acts. Half of the ones you mention are overrated anyhow - only loved due to hype or because they're told to by douchebag wannabes. Your list is so typical.

  • @Terramax at least the ones iv mentioned are real artists that sing about real life. Not some pathetic attempt at making love songs. Tell you what, who listens to motown now eh? the same people that listened to it back then where rock n roll has always remained relevant. My list was typical because they are all major artists around that time, just a shame i forgot the doors to add to that list

  • I was there in the crowd somewhere... Great show.... Shame they went a bit lightweight after

  • James and Sean, the only ones playing there instruments!

  • @killer600000 What? You can clearly Hear Nicky's bass! Its as loud as the Guitar! an you can hear Richey when the Solo starts

  • @SuperMegabar You need to lighten up dude

  • @killer600000 What? im sorry that i proved you wrong about something? i dont think i was being perticularly uptight "Dude".

  • @SuperMegabar Its called a joke. Just because you can hear there instruments doesn't mean they know how to play them. Its well documented that Richey didn't know how to play the guitar, and at some gigs would not even be hooked up to an amp.

  • @killer600000 True. But im saying you can actually hear him playing on THIS video. And i didn't find it funny so i didn't see it as a "joke". Anyway i seriously cannot be bothered arguing with someone over fucking youtube.

  • AFI is a total knockoff of early Manics. In fact the make up, self mutilation and and anorexia was a big part of emo culture. Did not call Manics emo so don't misinterpret what I said. Just seemed very influencial to some of the big names in early 00s emo.

  • @shygazer AFI aren't emo

  • does James go down and spit on someone at the end of the song? Looks like it!!

  • @suspectVandal just thinking that myself, probably some knob during his solo shouting shit when he was close

  • This is what this music is missing at the moment

  • i love it when Nicky throw kisses at the crowd at 1:58.

  • Fucking flawless!

  • I would follow them into the fucking pits of hell.

  • They came to Minneapolis this September. It was 18+. I'm 16 and had the SAT the next day. FML. Probably my only chance ever to get to see them..

  • dont worry they will come back to US somehow.

I stayed in Asia and in 2008 they came here.

hell yeah I watched them here.

can u imagine they perform in ASIA?

it's like waiting forever.... MANICS RULED...!!!

  • Love the way Bradfield offers the crowd out and then gobs on them at the end!

  • Is it true that Richey played the opening here?

  • its a shame no one in the states cares for the manics. they're fucking fantastic and i cry about the fact that ill never see them live.

  • cometo england and see them!

  • they have announced a US tour!

  • I JUST saw them in LA... I waited a long-ass time to see 'em, like 10 years... and you know what? it was worth it, more than I hoped for, they sounded EXACTLY like they sound on your turntable (or whatever you got) I cry that you did'nt get to see them... EVERYBODY should!

  • wow. Richey looks so stunning in this...beautiful (': oh...and i love nicky's blow-a-kiss at 1.59 XD

  • Love it. Love this song. Love the attitude. Love it when James goes down to the crowd and is being all like 'come on you fuckers'! Wish I could have been there but I was only a young'un at the time.

  • Ace.

  • That was fucking awesome! JDB looked as if he was about to do take on the whole crowd. He'd have taken out a few of them in his pre-pie days, I'm sure!

  • This is fucking Rock n' roll!!!

  • FN AWESOME.

  • Brillant to see this, as i'll never see them live this. Wonderful

  • Why will you never see them? If that's true, it's a shame. I've seen them 16 times and they're always brilliant live.

  • Oh, haha. I meant with this line up. When Richey was there. I've seen them twice now. Very good on both occassions. Must have been great to see them in there youth.

  • What was going on there? Why is James spitting at the audience?

  • this is amazing!!

  • i can't understand why the crowd were threwing bottles at them, they are one of the best band i've ever listened to, people didn't liked them because they told the truth, like John Lydon from the Sex Pistols did back in 1977.

  • and people threw far worse things than bottles at the pistols! I think it's more of a gesture of appreciation and empathy than one of antipathy.

  • I can't see any bottles being thrown, just a brilliant crowd enjoying the greatest band to ever grace this planet.

  • Fab song. Was in the crowd. Fantastic!!

  • The manics fucking owned reading this year..I laugh at everyone who went to the mainstage for the killers and misses a blinding show by the manics, also big thumbs up to everyone who saw them at reading as we were a great croud :)

  • Same goes for Leeds. Leeds 2001 was a killer performance too.

  • Yeah, Leeds was a truly fantastic way to end a great weekend after I was still buzzing from Metallica and RATM. It was short but sweet, and they played Of Walking Abortion!

  • Great Song!

    the Manics rules!

  • Outstanding.

  • once again i think I LOVE YOU!

  • Manics are the SEX!

  • Thanks for uploading this :D Delightful
