As I watch this, I'm filled so much pride knowing that many of these glorious monuments stand today because of my Clan Comyne ancestors!! My ties to the Highlands run very deep indeed!! I am so honored to be a Scot!!

Beautiful. We spent 10 days last year touring a part of the Highlands and Skye. Loved it and would go again. Wonderful video and haunting music.

wouldn't it be a sight to behold if a lot of these castles ( especially ones with only 1 wall left) were completely restored? Nonetheless, they are awe inspiring anyway, but then again I love History anyway.

Scotland has nothing on Wales when it comes to Castles! That's the one thing Wales beats the rest of the world with.

Scotland's a great country though. Keep fighting for independence, so that the true greatness of your beautiful land may be appreciated by the whole Earth.

@ronaldinhollew did not the English build the castles you speak of to keep the Welsh subjegated? Both nations have suffered the hand of tryany.

@RexAlban It's true they built a lot, and they built most of the biggest ones like Caernarfon Castle.

But around the same amount were built by the Normans, with many (including Carreg Cennen, my favourite) built by the Welsh Princes before we were conquered.

Some like Cardiff Castle and Castell Coch were built by the Welsh landowners in more recent times.

To me there is something entrancing about the old stonework of ruined castles -- as if they remember the lives once there. In some ways I'm more interested in the history of ruins than intact buildings. Your photographs are absolutely wonderful, and the music fits so well -- Thank you so much! One of my dreams is to visit Scotland one day -- I owe it to my Urquhart ancestors. Sarah

Wow...... if only the walls could talk, i would visit and never leave scotland! I am so drawn to this country it bothers me i dont know why i think about it all the time..... We have so many wonderful castles in Scotland. My sister had her wedding in Culcreuch Castle near Fintry and although small in comparison to the larger, well-known castles, it was simply a wonderful place to have a wedding. It's setting in the Fintry Hills & the surrounding countryside made it a wonderful background for her photographs. It was also bursting with the beautiful colours of Autumn as she got married in the middle of October.

Thank you Glen, This is by far one of the best videos about Scotland I have seen. Though I was born in Puerto Rico, my grandmother on my dads side was Scotish, Name Huchison, McDonald Clan. She was so proud of her ancestry. I hope some day I may be able to visit where she was born. Thanks again for this wonderfull video.
