@redneck9507 Try telling that to the Jr. Dragster crowd. Im sure they have billet cranks, rods, and flywheels just because they want the inside of their engine to look shiny....
@redneck9507 well at least now you just stated you were wrong. Tests have been conducted during testing billet cranks where they went over 12,000rpms. maybe a bone stock engine might not be able to rev over 5000rpm but the engine in this video is obviously not stock.
you should do like a walkaround vid. i really wanna see the live axle. i have the same cart just 1 seater and am thinking about going with a live axle. but i love the ol one wheel peel, gives me some excitement i dont think a live axle will?!
@hondaman07228 If you can do it right I would switch to the live axle, its worth it. and it just depends on how much power you have lol. If the grass is anything more than slightly damp I cant drive my kart because it will just sit there and spin with the slicks.
@JensenSteamEngines ya, i think im gonna. i got a briggs fun power, which is basically the same as the raptor that i plan to beef up. the live axle will benefite me im sure. i gotta get my motor tuned in though, it cuts out in my yard
@hondaman07228 There are some differences with the Fun power block versus the raptor series, most notably is that the fun power is what they called the "cool bore" which is aluminum, versus the raptors and I/C engines which had cast iron cylinder liners, giving significantly longer engine life. I would at least run a I/C block with a cast iron liner if you plan on doing any modding.
converted it to live axle, and got three bolt american hub pattern Hubs for the axle, and then bought some slicks off ebay with an american bolt pattern. Have to have a live axle to do this though.
ive had my briggs motors to 4500 or so before never broke the bottom end. I doubt thats a big cam though or it wouldnt idle that good and having a 500 rpm power band would be kinda of dumb
thats because of the centrifical clutch, it slips until it the go-kart gets up to speed. once the kart is going fast enouth, the clutch locks up the the engine revs increase. most clutchs have a stall speed of 2200 rpm. once the wheels are turning the clutch at that speed, it engages and stops slipping. that is why revs dont increase for a little bit.
because when you pull away before the camshaft "turns on" , you are accelerating, but the engine revs arent increasin, like you left the sound alone, and sped up the movie part of the vid.
are you braindead it said in the description the video lagged. plus it was a figure of speech when he said "the camshaft doesnt kick in until 4000rpm" it means once he goes that fast it likes to really go faster
These engines esaily turn over 4,000 rpm mine turns 9,000
magicmannickfaris 8 months ago

How fast?
MetricBernard 3 years ago
I have a sprocket in my garage that will take it to 60mph but I'm waiting on installing hydraulic disk brakes before I take it that fast.
JensenSteamEngines 3 years ago
what size motor? in hp?
iceewee3 3 years ago
its a 5hp briggs block (flathead) but has been modded so it makes about 13hp at the moment
JensenSteamEngines 3 years ago
so it has raptor parts and runs on alcohol then cause if its not a raptor block than it cant possibly make over double the rated hp of this block
jmoney321123 2 years ago
nice kart! what year? i have an 89' manco american express! i love older karts the new ones can be good or most of them break all of the time! reply!
iceewee3 4 years ago
hmmm... I'm pretty sure its 1993. Thats what the engine code # showed. As far as I know that was the original engine on it to.
JensenSteamEngines 4 years ago
did yours come without a roll cage? or did u just remove it
iceewee3 4 years ago
It didnt have one when I got it, and I asked the people I bought it from if it ever had one when they got it new and they said no it never had one.

a high performace go-kart. plus its like 10times better than the "green machine" lmao
JensenSteamEngines 4 years ago
wtf is that piece of shit
armokid15 4 years ago
yeah sleepermah, you're retarded. the clutch only engages at a higher rpm.
johnizawsum 4 years ago
yea thank you its the clutch because its not a racing type and the cam doesnt get into its "sweet spot" untill about 4000rpm on up
JensenSteamEngines 4 years ago
thats because of the centrifical clutch, it slips until it the go-kart gets up to speed. once the kart is going fast enouth, the clutch locks up the the engine revs increase. most clutchs have a stall speed of 2200 rpm. once the wheels are turning the clutch at that speed, it engages and stops slipping. that is why revs dont increase for a little bit.
p.s. my tricycle has the same type of clutch.
