a song that will linger in all us youthfull gael's for evermore..remember all our gallant historical figures that shed their sweat and blood to shape and liberate our undying people and nation.keep the flag aloft in its glistening form...
this is my 1st post on youtube couldnt help myself......christy says himself that it took him while to find a singing voice he is happy with, im sure he didnt go around speaking in different accents, he just experimented his singing until he was comfortable with it, and the only time ive heard a difference is with his stuff from the 60's 70's, so to say he changes his accents alot makes you sound like the MUPPET!(and v small minded)

Is that a pseudo DUBLIN accent Christy?? Or were you taught (or re-taught a "bogger" singing accent??) sorry guys this guy changes accents like a PC chameleon!!! MUPPETT!!!
There's something amazing about Christy's voice from back then. I'm not sure exactly what it is - is it more pronounced? does he have a slightly different accent - more Irish?
I know that Dominic Behan was a great figure in Irish Hstory, with his background,Songs and plays.I heard that his ashes were scattered to the Royal Canal in Dublin,a place he would have wished, and I know of his Brothe Brendan, as I live very close to his original home today.I hope I didn't offend you as I have great respect for the Behan family.

It's like he's trying to sound like a Dub. In later years, he doesn't try to disguise his Kildare accent.

Hey, relax, I just wrote an opinion. Are you annoyed at an opinion. What sparked such a reaction? I'm curious.

Never! Christy is king when it comes to this song. What a brilliant performance. I absolutely love his version.
