Excellent interpretation! This is one of the best recitals of this piece I have ever heard, and played on such a wonderful organ! I would love to get in there and play it myself! Excellent job!
Spectacular!! Thanks!! :) However, do keep the tempo steady throughout and the passage work neat and clean. I know how exciting it gets as the variations unfurl, but, do keep it all controlled. Well done mate! :)
Love this piece by Reger, esp the clever modulation at the end . Stood at attention one night last year in my bedroom in the dark for an hour listening to repeats by another organist, while playing various fantasies in my head. Wonderful performance Mr Murray
Superb! The kindest compliment I can pay you is to say that your performance reminded me of that given by the great Piet Kee at the St Bavo, Haarlem organ. Your interpretation was remarkably similar in tempo and sensitivity. Greetings from NZ.
always great to hear reger, happily his compositions have had something of a rennaisance since digital technology arrived, wheras in te in the l.p era the very quiet bits would be accompanied by lp crackle and rumble
This is something that reminds me about the true beauty of the organ, something I seem to have forgotten. Thank you Mr Murry for sharing this inspirational moment.

The Catholic Church uses souls to power their organs. That's why they collect 'em. But it's worth it! Sounds great.

@bloodynoes Lol, I'm a Christian and found this hilarious

Superb playing. Bravo .
I can't help thinking, it must be difficult hearing the organ from the organists position, buried in and under the organ like that.

Complication is one of the things I love of Reger.
The firstime I played this on a huge cathedral organ, my friends standing around the console said it sent chills up their spines.
Wait 'till you hear the great Chorale Fantasies and Fugues of Reger.
Especially love Wachet Auf, Wie schon leucht, BACH, 135b fugue, and the Symphonic Fantasy and Fugue.
Best to have the music to follow along.

@robertgift Kudos to you for liking the 135b fugue! Unquestionably one of Reger's finest double fugues.

This reminds me of some of Bach's works.

Nice performance!
Thank you.
This is NOT easy.
First Reger I memorized. (ALL Reger should be.)
Love how you used the wonderful live acoustics.
But disliked disconnected pedal notes when it happened. Except for phrasing, they should be tied together.
Wish an organist had done the video.
But was nice seeing the pedal and later pedal and manuals in one view.
32' Principal and Bombarde but no 32' Bourdon?
Don't cut off recording before sound ceases. Let's hear the applause.

Mmm, this is one of Reger's easiest pieces ;))
Nicely played, though.

Is it really?
advisorC101 2 years ago
Yep. I'm plying it in my second year of organ playing (having a solid piano background, though), so it's not that hard.
Have you heard "Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern"?
Fawkes9 2 years ago
No I haven't. Who wrote it?

Reger
