It too slow under power jet engine. Even Beechcraft twin-turboprop more faster then this slow Diamond's D-Jet but too cheap like INDIA TATA NANO. ONLY US$1.89 million but in us dollar.

@iscay666 meh not really "dangerous". Jets are more reliable than reciprocating engines and people fly single engine cessnas all the time. Plus given the fact that this thing probably flies at least FL280 there is nothing dangerous about having a single engine. It's nice and cheap too, VLJ's are the trend of the future.
Hey "pieprzycCielonych" I would like to tell you that anything is possible, but the chances of that happening with a jet engine is really quite nil. Two engines-----double the maintenance and operating costs. This is the way to go, single engine jet!!!!!!!!!!!!
@pieprzycZielonych anything is possible, but not likely on todays jet engines! They are made to last and put on engine cells running indefinitely and no breakdowns, just adding oil and fuel! So having two engines is not any more safe than one engine (my opinion only)
I agree. I have also heard more good things about the D-jet than the Vision. But Diamond has had problems with past aircraft like the D-40. This looks like the best personal jet out there and it is a tough market to master.
Never but NEVER trust an aircraft, but dont think im saying this so you stop flying, i am a pilot and i will go all the way to my CFI and ATP and well i might not have alot of flight time since im just starting but this philosophy is always applicable, never trust the metals and even if its "the most safest thing ever made" that doesnt mean it could fail so from cessna 172s to airbus 380s there is always a chance that something could go wrong and its the pilots job and duty to be aware of that!
My question is the same for all of these planes and remains unanswered. How can you fly for 5+ hours and not have a place to pee? What do people do? I know this absolutely has to come up and it has to be a consideration. Do you just carry an empty 3 liter Coke bottle and tell everybody to look out the window?
I was going to reserve my response because I was sure you were a 20 something and could't possibly understand about renal issues and I find out that you are a smug 52 year old asshole. Man up indeed. tell me that when you have prostate cancer and they are sticking rods in you and a lot of things I'd just as soon forget.
The reason for two (or more) engines was to carry more payload at a faster speed. Since that is no longer a factor a single engine aircraft is the preferred choice. Two (or more) engine safety for non-commercial pilots is more dangerous not safer. That is the statistics not my personal opinion.
Hmmm.... I still don't consider this Diamond D Jet safe... Single Engine jets not really trustable at times, if that engine's dead and you will face difficult situations.
How is cabin pressure maintained at altitude if/when the engine fails??
waking up at 15000 in a steep decent breakin the sound barrier(i know you wont actually break the sb) cant be fun for anyone. also if the auto pilot is left engaged you may have problems either way when you black out at altutude you can expect to "depart controlled flight"
i like redundancy "switching to backup" is an understated phrase
The outlfow valve modulates to achieve"Scheduled leak rate". Explosive decomp is another story. The Soveriegn, G4, G5, etc...automatically execute emer descents and level off on thier own
Cabin pressure cannot be maintained without the engine functioning. Pressurization will decline naturally over time, so a pilot must immediately begin an emergency decent to breathable atmosphere. However any pressurized plane should come with an auxiliary oxygen system, masks which can be deployed to give you breathable air until a safe altitude is reached. This is what the masks that pop out of the ceiling in airliners are for, and any other non-pressurized aircraft.
You are also correct in your assertion that auto-pilot and anoxia can produce fatal results. This has actually happened before. A plane slowly lost pressurization and no warning indicators alerted the crew. As a result they fell unconscious and died, with the plane continuing flight on auto-pilot until the military was dispatched to intercept after they flew off-course with no communication. The plane eventually crashed in the mountains.
I use to like single engine jets but not anymore. With the recent crash in NY the single engine does not stand a chance. I'd much rather have a piston or turbo prop
That makes no sense. Jet engines have far fewer moving parts, are more durable, and are easier to maintain than piston or turboprop engines.
Statistically, civilian jet aircraft have a much better safety record than piston or turboprop aircraft. This is partly due to the jets operating at higher/safer altitudes above poor weather.
Also, you can't decide the safety of an entire class of transportation based on ONE crash. Do you also not travel in cars, because you read about ONE car accident?
Hey, if you've got the money, you can have as many engines as you like! in the real world though, single engine turboprops like the Pilatus PC-12 (which is actually LESS simple than this jet) have a very good safety record. They fly across oceans and deserts all the time on one engine, and their safety record is great.
I know, its just personal preference for me. Im flying single engine planes right now to get my private obviously, but im going to go on to get my multi engine along with commercial.
You would actually only save around 750,000 dollars. Plus the Cessna travels about half the speed, and has about half the range. With that reasoning, you might as well buy yourself a car because it'll still get you there.
Someone who's in the market for a jet wouldn't have the patience for a slow plane; cost is not an object, particularly if the plane can save them time. Generally people in this particular market also have much more than 2 million to spend. I know one or two people in this category who run their own businesses, or are doctors or lawyers, and don't have a minute of time to themselves. Something that saves them a few hours they'd gladly pay for.
Most general aviation pilots do not haul 6 or 7 people around, that's why. The vast majority fly alone or with one other person. Even 172s are rarely flown with more than two people, even though you can haul 4.
So the answer is, this jet is to get somewhere fast, smooth, quiet and comfortable. No piston aircraft is going to be able to do any of that. The cost is not an obstacle for this market.
Yeah, true, but why wouldnt you just buy a Cessna 206 Turbo which can hold 6 or even 7 and save a lot of money. Its sort of pointless. Its like they made a jet for just making one.
The look is growing on me. They made alot of visual enhancements since the original prototype such as a metal strip surrounding the windshield which i like alot. The ventral fins on the tail are interesting and it will have winglets. It could be a good stepup plane to build time before moving on to something that's really nice such as a Mustang or Honda Jet.
