just think what would happen if no1 ate meat. wat wud we eat ? we wudnt be able to survive of just fruit and vegetables as if we do not control numbers of other species that would also be feeding of crops then there would be none for humans . If uv ever seen the damage that pigeons, deer, geese, crows and the many other animals that feed of crops do then you would understand why numbers need to be controled.
Pigeons, deer, rats are all species trying to survive in a world where many humans like yourselves believe that they are disposables if their needs are in conflict with human needs. Humans are not superior to any other species, we just share the planet with them and should respect their needs too. What are you intending to do about the human population explosion? Is it right to shoot others to maintain a "managed environment"? Monsters are to me, those that destroy what makes life beautiful.
@mpzambrano, pigeons & deer are a pest, they eat young crops. The countryside is a managed environment that provides the food on your table. Please try to open your mind to the realities of modern farming. People who are engaged in these activities are not monsters.
What is it with these losers that enjoy destroying the beautiful sentient beings of life?
Is it that they enjoy the power that they have over living beings that have no chance of reprisal to their guns? Bullying it is!! They have no respect for anything except their own self indulgences. Hope they shoot each other in one of their bloodthirsty expeditions.
@MPZambrano1977 I might also suggest that deer numbers are at a never before seen high. without population control, they would cause huge damage to woodland ecosystems, forestry, agriculture, and would also be damaging themselves. with a very high population density, it allows disease not only to appear, but when it does, it would spread quickly trough the densely packed animals. lower populations whilst it may seem cruel, not only provides jobs, but is beneficial to all involved. even the deer
@danebrewer10 Pigeons, deer, rats are all species trying to survive in a world where many humans like yourselves believe that they are disposables if their needs are in conflict with human needs. Shoot people to maintain a "managed environment"? It is humans who have damaged ecosystems, forestry, etc
@MPZambrano1977 if you want to go to extreemes, are you going to stop foxes from eating rabbits and mice because it's cruel? I never said they were" disposables" as you put it, I make good use of them by eating them. on a basic level, it's removing some of the competition, not adversley affecting the populations. sure Humans have caused massive damage to ecosystems around the world, but I wonder where your motivations lie,
@danebrewer10 No, you cannot stop foxes from eating rabbits or mice as this is the only way they can survive. We humans have a choice, we do not need to abuse or kill other species to survive,as we are not carnivores. I see that you are in the business of cleaning or supplying guns so no guesses where your motivations lie. My motivation lies in making this world a better place for all and for highlighting that we need to learn to put the planet and all its contents first, before our pleasures.
@MPZambrano1977 no, I'm not a retailer, just a regular field sports person, so yes I am in the "for" camp, not carnivores? chimps and other primates will often eat meat, insects, as well as their main staple, fruit etc they, like us are omnivores. no we probably don't "need" to eat meat but society has grown up doing it since year dot. but as for abusing other species? absolutely not, definitely there are poor standards of animal husbandry in some parts of the world,
@danebrewer10 People have indeed grown up eating meat but certainly not in the quantities that they do today. There are absolutely appalling standards of animal husbandry in the UK. How else can you explain the misery that poultry, pigs, ducks, etc have to suffer to put them on people's plates? Furthermore, just because people have been eating meat since year dot, it does not mean that this is the only way forward or indeed the best way either. The world is ever changing.
@MPZambrano1977 I think that people only ate less meat previously because they couldn't aford it, but generally animal husbandry from my experience is very good, I help out on a small farm and have been to two pthers, mixed and dairy herds, and the level of care is very good, but there are some that do push the boundaries of what is acceptable and they will be tripped up in the future as industry standards change, animal welfare websites only display what they want you to see. people eat meat
@danebrewer10 Animal welfare sites display what meat, dairy, egg industries keep a very guarded secret. Have you ever seen a party of school children taken to see the mother pigs in crates denied of all their maternal instincts? Have they ever been taken to a slaughterhouse so that they can see by themselves the fear of the animals that are brought into these horrific places, specially as they smell the blood and hear other animal cries? It is no wonder they want to keep it quiet.
@MPZambrano1977 true true, no I guess they don't, and there was something recently where several slaughterhouses were actually abusing the animals, but that is, like you sy, where consumer power comes in, all it needs is for more and more people to care more where their food comes from, but from small family run business where the quality and animal welfare is assured, and the major players will be forced to change. something I can't get behing or advocate enough!
@MPZambrano1977 but I think the proportion of the population that enjoys causeing others and animals pain is infintessimaly smal and todays society, indeed myself won't stand for it.
@danebrewer10 The proportion of the population that buys meat, goods made from leather, toiletries and household products tested on animals is indeed very large, and all these people are promoting through their purchases animal abuse. Sadly, many of them do not even stop to think and realise what impact they have on others. After all, if people bought ethically, industry would soon get the message to change their ways or go bankrupt.
@MPZambrano1977 the thing is with animal testing, some, I agree is not right, but would you volunteer yourself to test out a potentially life saving drug, not knowing what the potential side effects were? I think not, again I fear we are drifting off course. people aren't promoting animal abuse, that is where education comes in, and thankfully people are starting to realise that and identify where their food comes from and buy products more carefully, something I wholelly support and practice
@danebrewer10 We are drifting off course but i would like to point out that animal testing does not save human lives, we are a totally different species, and it is well known that out of 10 tests passed on animals, 9 fail on humans. There are scientists now (not animal rights activists), who are campaigning for reliable tests based on human biology. I would only volunteer if the potential saving drug had been tested using human biology techniques. For more info visit safermedicines org
@MPZambrano1977 good point, but I still think it must be accepted that human analogues, i.e. genetically close species will still be required in the future, though I support the second part of your post
@danebrewer10 Human analogues will never give you the right answers either. Furthermore, it is totally unethical to inflict suffering on any being for the alleged benefit of another one. To put this subject into context, even humans will react differently to the same drug because of age, ethical backgrounds, gender, etc. To add to that a difference of species makes it just totally irrelevant and useless for human welfare, although of great use to the drug industry to minimize awards for damages
@MPZambrano1977 are you truly concerned for the wellbieng of the planet as a whole or are you just concerned with the killing of wild animals? my guess is the latter. I bet also that you have swatted a fly in your kitchen or perhaps even set a mouse trap? think about how it relates to your first point. and as for shooting humans as population controlL ridiculous in the extreme. China has shown that the one child policy coupled with education can work well,
@danebrewer10 In answeer to your question, i am very concerned about the wellbeing of the planet and all its contents not forgetting that without the planet the human race will also become extinct. Why do so many humans think that everything around us is there for us to take if that makes our lives more pleasurable? I have used once a humane trap for a mouse and when caught, I released it into the countryside. And no, I do not kill flies or even slugs in my garden.
@MPZambrano1977 good word, exploitation "everything around us is there for us to take" [sic]. it's what every animal does to it's fullest ability, it just so happens that we, as humans have done this so much better (probably for the worse of the world) than other species
@DougKhajit101 I'd suggest you do some research into what you find"disgusting" instead of making uninformed and generalist comments about that which you know nothing about.
this needs to go on the tv seriously it should!! its such a good profesinal show and would defo get alot of veiws cause their no programs on tv to do with proper contry side well acept contry file but thats mainly farms and things not so much the sports
