About this playback-discussion, it's been a well-known fact that these "Elämä lapselle" -concerts are playback. Just like many other this kind of concerts with various artists. Simply because otherwise they would use much time to get the equipment ready for next performer. This one is not an "album-version" as everyone can hear, but it's still playback. And it's not POTF's "fault" or their own decision. 'Cos they're just awesome when they play live - without playback.

It's a shame that most people overlook this band and go for your typical Linkin Park, Korn, Metallica, Green Day or the degrading shitty Emo bands...Poets of the Fall is underatted and they deserve to be recognized all over the world. They work so hard to make awesome music, and it's just overlooked...it's a shame, each of their songs are just Masterpieces.
I would have to guess that the vocal performance is what is a playback but at least you can tell it's not straight from the song itself . probably was recorded for a live setup.

It certainly seems that way but I think the more telling parts are when says he's jumping from the drum platform and holds a sustained note perfectly even at the landing...but I dont think it's playback, they've got some modeling or processing going through his voice during the song portions...that's why it sounds different at the end as well...most bands do this live.

Marko's not a terminator I guess o_O he surely would be suffocating. and, what's more, when he's trying to shout smth at 4:40 , it is clearly can be heard, that Marko sounds worse and much more worse than when he was "singing".

I read somewhere, that he was an exchange student in great Britain, or somethin' of the sort, not too sure. /shrug, either way thats probably why he speaks fluent English.
It depends on what you call perfect. Finland is officially a bilingual country, Finnish and Swedish being the official languages. There is not much use for Swedis here, since those whose mother tongue it is, can usually speak Finnish fluently. Almost everybody, however, studies English and use it often if not every day. It's relatively safer to assume that everyone under 60 can speak, write, and uderstand English rather than do that in Swedish. Ppl over 60 speak German better.
as a finnish guy its no surpriset that potf is also one of my favorite bands. their best tracks imo are: -lift -late goodbye -illusion & dream -carnival of rust -the way/4u -revolution roulette -miss impossible this "live"-gig is playback, its a bit stupid to claim anything else. anyways, looking forward to hear some more awesome tracks from these dudes! wish they make more the beautifull stuff where they are best at, not the hard/heavy stuff into which marko's voice isnt cabable of.
Oddly enough, I think I was one of the few outside of Finland to hear of them without Max Payne XD. It was Bill & Ted set to 'Lift'. Been a fan ever since. I wish they'd come to scotland, fucking class music they produce and they'd get a good crowd I feel! Keep up the good work!
I first heard this song (and band) on 3D Mark 06 on the credits, and wow!
That guitar solo is just amazing at the end, haha, the way his fingers jump up and down the fret board, and with his arm flying up in the air on a quick gap. Fantastic :D

Ok....I am definatly sure that what we hear IS NOT a live performance, though the playback is not the original cd track. Weird, huh?...But they definetly know how to fake it! exepct from the singer(half of the times the camera is on him, he seems "singing" something else)...overdose probably! :P

they're on an island in the middle of a huge bowl of people. The guitarists keep shifting, and Mark's basically running laps around the huge thing trying to keep everything together. It's interesting to watch them fill the space and engage the whole crowd.
these guys need to come to the states. that song alone would be worth a ticket!. i mod computers and airbrush them and have this playing on one while at a pc show. and i could listen to it all day!!!!
Also, if this video were a montage, (and trust me, I held my suspicions...) somehow, they manage to make the audience audible despite the song. They couldn't eliminate the song from the audio yet keep the audience in there, and if they played the song over the audience, you'd hear two times the song played over each other.
In such a case, if they got off tempo or out of sync AT ALL, you'd be able to tell.

This is not live, i know he sings well live just see the many videos on youtube, but this is not live, maybe he was with some problem with is voice and they decided for playback to not lose any money buy canceling the concert.

Several bands are THAT GOOD, just none you listen to. LORDI, NIGHTWISH, LACUNA COIL, EPICA, KAMELOT. Take your pick. Seen them all live and they ARE THAT GOOD.
Oh no, I know that there are alot of bands that sing amazing live, but to me, it kinda looks like it's playback. Nightwish are awesome live, but (when Tarja was still in the band) She would run out of breath and stuff and I can't really tell with this performance.
Tarja is not a real good example. Her voice was very operatic and required exertion on her part which would definitely cause shortness of breath. Anette sounds just as good live as on the album. Poets are the same way. The differences in pitch and rythm on this version as compared to the original are indicative that this is definitely live. Logic takes a vacation for those who believe any band would record a different version and use it as playback. Poets kick ass.
I will concede that there are a few differences: 1. He says "disappear" differently at 1:09, 2: He says "Leave" in "Leave my way like there's nothing wrong" a tad differently, and 3: intro to refrain is slightly different.
When he talks at the end though, it sounds totally different than what he just sang. Question: why does this "live" version sound so completely different than every other Lift PoTF has sung live?
OK, I'm a huge PoTF fan, but I must say this is suspicious w/respect to lip synching. Not only is the song played at exactly the same tempo/key as the studio version (and the instruments sound almost exactly the same), but you can play them side by side and see that they sound very simliar.
This is unfortunatelly playback, alot is possible with microphones, compressors and limiters, but you just can't jump around and sing as perfect as that. Only his comment @ 3:46 was real. Did you notice the pitch change in the voice? My, my...

This is not live, i know he sings well live just see the many videos on youtube, but this is not live, maybe he was with some problem with is voice and they decided for playback to not lose any money buy canceling the concert.

Ít´s a live performance!Listen closely the Cd and this rendition and you´ll realize it´s a very different performance: they are both superb.POTF are an amazing band,they can bring onstage what they play in the studio.They are proficient musicians.This song is a must wich deserve a place in any serious record collection

theres different facts to both sides if its playback or live. i honestly think its live because marc has a great voice, but who cares? POTF is one of the best bands and everyone that says its playback still think that its a good band..so who cares

Several bands are THAT GOOD, just none you listen to. LORDI, NIGHTWISH, LACUNA COIL, EPICA, KAMELOT. Take your pick. Seen them all live and they ARE THAT GOOD.

Oh no, I know that there are alot of bands that sing amazing live, but to me, it kinda looks like it's playback. Nightwish are awesome live, but (when Tarja was still in the band) She would run out of breath and stuff and I can't really tell with this performance.

Tarja is not a real good example. Her voice was very operatic and required exertion on her part which would definitely cause shortness of breath. Anette sounds just as good live as on the album. Poets are the same way. The differences in pitch and rythm on this version as compared to the original are indicative that this is definitely live. Logic takes a vacation for those who believe any band would record a different version and use it as playback. Poets kick ass.

I will concede that there are a few differences: 1. He says "disappear" differently at 1:09, 2: He says "Leave" in "Leave my way like there's nothing wrong" a tad differently, and 3: intro to refrain is slightly different.
When he talks at the end though, it sounds totally different than what he just sang. Question: why does this "live" version sound so completely different than every other Lift PoTF has sung live?

OK, I'm a huge PoTF fan, but I must say this is suspicious w/respect to lip synching. Not only is the song played at exactly the same tempo/key as the studio version (and the instruments sound almost exactly the same), but you can play them side by side and see that they sound very simliar.

This is unfortunatelly playback, alot is possible with microphones, compressors and limiters, but you just can't jump around and sing as perfect as that. Only his comment @ 3:46 was real. Did you notice the pitch change in the voice? My, my...
