  • Rubinstein sempre foi o maximo . Tenho guardado disco de vinil dado por meu pai... Obbrigada.

  • Forminabile, come sempre.

  • Im 16 and im listening classic music since i was 5, it's for me, A DELICIOUS CAKE

  • @Piie2rexOver thats nice 2 kno

  • Lénine: "If I keep listening to Beethoven's Appassionata, I won't be able to finish the revolution." ....

  • AR was 87, I believe, when he made this recording.

Of course, he doesn't have quite the technical command of his earlier years. There's more smudging, a lot of wrong notes, and he has a dire memory slip.

But really! He's still Rubinstein ... and all the sweep and power and conviction of his earlier playing is still in evidence.

I've had misgivings about this live recording in Pasadena, but now I think, as a very late life document of his astonishing durability, that's it's a treasure.

  • @rubestuh not memory, he was nearly blind

  • Good, but pales in comparison with his 1945 recording.

  • no one plays the coda better than he does.

  • great sound

  • Does this performance exist as a commercial DVD? Does anyone know? Thanks.

  • @spanishbaritone Sorry for replying to a 9 months old comment...but yes, this exists as a commercial vid. My piano teacher borrowed it to me, however he bought it in China

I think its named "Last Recital for Israel"

  • Horowitz, Richter and Rubinstein played very good on their later years

  • this was his last recital

  • omg...he is very older and yet heplays it a lot better than everyone of us...no need to be upset..

  • @matthewjfoster1 i would like to see you play as well as him while not making a single mistake! i can't believe ppl like you this man was a master and you dare to sully his name if you can send me a video of you playing at the correct tempo and not making a single mistake then i will recend my opinion but you are the worst of the worst in the world of classical music that i love so much its people like you who think you are the better than everyone that make me want to lay donw my violin!

  • this is really amazing , I mean I haven't seen a man who can plays pieces like this at this age this good , except for Horowitz

  • im happy to hear him playing this. i think that somewhere up there, beethoven is happy that people like him represent his sonatas

  • 8:38 epic arpeggios of awesomely awesomeness

  • Arthur Rubinstein is the best:D

  • WWOOWW sooo goooood and the coourfulness of the video adds dramatism

  • SO GOOD!!!! These very late Rubinstein performances are so stripped down and natural, I just love them. And despite the seveal numerous very small errors, his technique is so beautiful, so relaxed, such beautiful tone on EACH note of the passagework, each movement so perfectly relaxed and efficient! A very, very fine pianist who saw Rub. play frequently from the 1940s on told me that he loved the way that his histrionic motions were gradually stripped away leaving what we have here! Pure music.

  • But this is Beethoven not Chopin for god sake. Arrau does a more accurate interpretation I think.

  • richter????????????????

  • In my opinion, this was very well executed

  • My favorite pianist playing my favorite Beethoven Sonata :)

  • Same here!!!
