  • Were all 3 units totaled? Mainly there wee 4 RA units and one had a distinct horn to it, more higher pitched, now its extinct. How did the train derail?

  • @BBT609 The one with the distinct horn is still in service, but IDK Where it is. The lead RA unit suffered minor damage while the trailing SD40-2 had been totaled.

  • @brickbuilder711 Like i think it gotten a new horn. Thats my prediction. Do you know how the train derailed?

  • Did all 3 engine get totaled? There were 4 RA units and one had a distinct horn to it, and now we dont here it anymore

  • how did it crach

  • I been to this crossing alot. And yeah. Do they buy new engines if they do derail? There is only 3 RailAmerica engines, bc of a derialment

  • How long do you think the SDs and Geeps will be around?

  • Mechanical bells only!! That's the FEC way!! They really go out of their way to make sure the driver and the pedestrian are fairly warned. Even the pedestrian gate has the lights and the bell. They also use those massive hurricane cantilevers. Very fun railroad for railfans.

  • @GothicRunes FEC hates electronic bells. BNSF is a fan of them

  • @BBT609 I believe Western Cullen-Hayes is the only company left that still makes mechanical bells. I don't think Safetran does anymore.

  • @GothicRunes Safetran stopped production in late 2005

  • Why in your description it reads rest in peace 701? Did that loco derail or something?

  • @stationmaster12 The unit derailed and was totaled on May 9, 2009.

  • heyy was that a x-BC Rail unit i saw

  • Nope! Brand new unit FEC purchased in RailAmerica colors. BCRail has a brighter blue.

  • Iam a future fec engineer. do you know if they have any engineer classes I can take?

  • Why do the crossing bells cut out when the gates completely drop?

  • Well, the FEC programmed bells to ring only in motion. when the gates are in a firm position, the bells will not ring, thanks for commenting!

  • UP has that too, but some of their crossings have continuously ringing bells. Some continuously ringing bells ring all the way through and some stop when the gates go up. BNSF has bells that stop when the gates go up. CSX and NS have bells that only ring when the gates go down.

  • @Sniper12890 I hate that. I like it when the bells ring either when the gates are going up or down. Say if a UP train was stalled, and you are at the crossing, you would be really annoyed by the bell the just keeps ringing. BNSF I like, but the bell sequence is not good. NS and CSX stink when the bells just ring once and never ring again.

  • @brickbuilder711 LIRR only has that on a few of their crossings. Most LIRR crossings have continuously ringing bells. Metro North has bells only ringing when the gates go down.

  • yeah thats dixie highway. i remember that track

  • Good video, is that the line the runs along Old Dixie Hwy. Been in that area a number of times and have seen the rock train there.

  • or the tri rail on race track road by the horse track would be awsome. i lived right off the track and would bring back great memories.

  • great video. i used to live in pompano beach. can you get a video of the race track road crossing by city hall? i always got that train when i used to drive to work all the time. thank you.

  • Great job as always! Looking forward to your next catch, and maybe I might be there with you for that one! : )
