improves aerodynamics, because when you go at high speed, the wind resistance on the spoiler pushes the car down on the road to make more grip, it's good for high speed runs and corners, but useless for things like drifting.

Don't really know the physics of it, enlighten me please, because i thought the drag they cause would help maintain stability in high speed cornering and straight lines, but when you're drifting, you aren't going that fast are you?

Spoilers/wings on cars are effective in that they push the rear end of the car down, not so much for stability, but the downward force of the wind keeps the power of the car on the road. It doesn't keep the car straight or anything.

And in drifting, corners are taken anywhere from 40-90 mph. Spoilers have been shown to be somewhat effective from about 65 mph+. I've seen drift cars with a rear spoiler and a spoiler mounted on the hood.
