Also, can someone please tell me the name of the piece he plays when they get to the shack (not the wedding theme). I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. On BBC iPlayer, he plays it at 38:35 mins.
I am fortunate own the entire video of this movie. I had to buy a used copy. It is probably out of print. The music is beautiful. I searched a long for this movie just because I was curious about it.
I often come back to watch this most beautifull video.
The words on the screen and the great music being palyed contribute to my always feeling emotional when I listen to this quasi-classic fabulous piece of music.
Great music from this 1941 movie Dangerous Moonlight........a version of the music from The Four Aces' The World Outside..........Truly a treasure. Thanks for having this wonderful video shared to everyone.
@nancyfloressantos Hi nancy! I'd just listened to Ray Conniff's version of this - hadn't realized it's only from 1941, but it's now on my playlist for that year. I'm struggling to maintain my 700 playlists as videos drop out from deleted channels. Still, it's a joy to be able to have & share great music. I got to spend an hour with a famous composer/arranger last month in LA - Stu Phillips. He's featured on my first 2 playlists now! chuck
I remember this music so well. The scene with the noise of the airaid in the background was so dramatic. I cannot remember much of the story but the music was wonderful. When so many in a nation choose a megalomaniac to
govern them the results are always disastrous for that nation and for others.
With tears in my eyes I remember this as one of my beloved moms favorite classical pieces of music, she was a concert violinist and piano player. She and my dear dad are together in Heaven with the Lord.......Some day!! reunion!!!!
I know this damn good, because I whistled (!) it at Sydney's Circular Quay at least 500 times in my 12 years of busking... (public performance). Check out my YouTube recordings.
I am sending this music to my dearest friend Piotr Kuryllowicz in Canada. On May 13, 1943, German fighters shot him down on the Spitfire near village Occoches in northern France. Piotr, 23 years old, from the 315 Polish Squadron RAF, bales out injured, taken prisoner, sent to Stalag Luft 3 POW camp till end of war. His Spitfire was found in December 2005, excavated, reunited with its pilot at crash site in Occoches for the first time since 1943. Google above info for photos,
I like to think of the Warsaw Concerto as a loving tribute to Rachmininoff's thrilling music. It [Warsaw Concerto] is beautiful, and it fits into one movement enough super-romantic melodies to be the "pay-off" melody lines of three full-length concerti!
As much as we feel the emotion of the wonderful piece, we can never feel the same about it as our fathers. That is because it represented the sadness and despair of 1939-1945. Think about it in the context of a WWII vet.
I've just come across this after looking up the music title following on from buying a CD recently with this track on. Thanks so much for posting. Up until recently I hadn't heard this music for years (my Mum used to play it a lot when I was young) & I'd forgotten how much it always moves me! I now have tears streaming as I type this; made more so by your lovely video & the comments about your Dad. It is almost 12 years to the day since I lost my own Dad; need I say more. Thank you.
Jadore7- I have just come accross your videos and I am knocked out. they are so moving and I slotted you right into my favourites. Thank you for this pleasure.
This brings back so many good memories of my father. My father was 82nd Airborne WWII.. I never realized the significance, I only know that it was because he listened to this that I have enjoyed it my whole life.
I love all of your video presentations and the music you have played with them.
Jadore7 - Thanks for posting this. My father also loved this song, as well as many other classical pieces. I am glad that my mother and father listened to this kind of music when I was growing up - it exposed me to some great music, which is now part of my life. I used to be able to play some of this on the piano. Who knows, I might pick it up again. I must be honest - I had no idea that Warsaw Concerto was the theme song to this movie, now I want to rent this to see the entire movie.
My grandfather was in the Army in WWII and my great uncle was a pilot in the Air Force. They are both still here and this video makes me truly thankful for the courage, bravery, and patriotism of that generation. It also reminds me that "Freedom is not free".
My father was in the American 82nd Airborne and played this piece many many times. He would sit for hours and go places in his mind you did not want to know about. Thanks
A very private and personal celebration of this wonderful musical piece. The link between moonlinght and the inherent danger for the British (?) paratroopers is very moving. Thanks for sharing! The only way to win wars is if we all refuse to take sides and live in harmony with each other. As one human being to another you have my love and respect. x x x
Your new video is much appreciated as it is sympathetic to the original film (Dangerous Moonlight). My goodness, is it more than 60 years since I first saw this?. I have enjoyed all your videos. So much great music. Thank you very much.
Thankyou so much for this video, its a fantastic piece of music and your editing and pictures make it really special. Your videos are always worth waiting for......B

It is fantastic !.
It sounds and lifts your spirit like a classic from Rachmaninoff or Debussy.
Would love to watch the movie.
I bet it is one of those greart English classics made during WWII..

Yes, The Warsaw Concerto was made into a song entitled "The World Outside"
Perhaps you are a bit young to know this.
It you need the lyrics, I will be happy to send them to you..
