It is beyond belief to me that the holocaust is being denied. But anymore, I should not be surprised. The world is so far out of whack. In some ways, I can tend to be a conspiracy theorist. If anything....and I'm not saying I believe this, but if anything....perhaps the sheer numbers of those supposedly murdered / gassed, etc. has been exaggerated. Maybe. Hell, every other number has been falsified either higher or lower in whatever the media is reporting. But for SURE...the holocaust happened.
My dad was in the Army during WWII and he was at one of the Camps 3 days after it was liberated and he saw the prisoners they had nowhere to go and they did look exactly what we have seen in pictures today, that is all he would ever talk about the War and the Camps with me so that tells me a lot of what he felt.

Although the trees and grass have grown again, Jaidemm, and there is a sense of peace there, the atmosphere is strangely heavy. I've been there when there's been hundreds of school children there and not one of them giggled or played about; all were extremely respectful. I find the huts at Birkenau most haunting, so bleak and so cold, you cannot fail to feel the ghosts of suffering when you touch the walls and walk on the broken floors.

The pictures I can't believe at all are authentic 'ghosts', but I can say that artistically speaking, they are beautiful. The fact is there are ghosts of our past there, figuratively, and it's something that we cannot forget, because to forget history is to doom oneself to repeating it.

I've been to Auschwitz numerous times and I don't find it scary so much as extremely moving; and I love your film. I'm sorry you've had to remove nasty comments, but they're all out there, the haters, waiting to pounce. It's strange isn't it? Auschwitz/Birkenau is the area with the largest concentration murders and yet it is not notriously haunted compared to say, the lemp mansion or the Scottish vaults.. I wonder why this is?
I created these images using long exposures, and the "ghosts" are the other visitors at the camps. I did not want to treat Auschwitz-Birkenau as a dead place, but rather a place that still was alive with the spirits of those who died there.
I recently met 10 survivors at the Dallas Holocaust Museum and met a woman who survived this camp. They were not bitter or pessimistic, but rather happy and full of life and optimism! It was a real teaching moment for me.
Did these photos really turn out like this when they were developed? What did that place "feel" like?Did it have an evil feeling to it? I became friends with an elderly lady who was in Bergen Belsen. I didnt care that she was Jewish...She was my friend, and she gave talks at the local high schools, and some schools out of state to let kids know that them know the horrors of these camps. On September 3, 1941, the Nazi's experimented on 600 Russian POWs and 250 Polish inmates by gathering them in the basement of Block 11 and gassing them with Zyklon B, a highly lethal cyanide-based pesticide. This paved the way for the use of Zyklon B as an instrument for extermination at Auschwitz, and a gas chamber and crematorium were constructed by converting a bunker. This was at Auschwitz I. Aushcwitz II was larger and killed many more.

When I see these pictures, again, no matter if they are real or not, I feel my heart being pulled from me. I can only hope that most people could believe and remember that these are people just like everyone else. It sickens me how human life ran so cheaply in that time. Children, women, and men of all ages lost their lives in the camps, in the ghettoes, and on the streets of Germany and Austria and Czechoslovakia and all over Europe and in America.
It's heartwrenching. Truly horrific how Hitler and the Nazis could've killed so mercilessly, and I believe those who are holocaust deniers are no better than the nazis. I've been there a few times the first was the hardest it was so powerful and made you feel teribaly sad. I went into one of the gas chambers alone and i could hear a little girl crying and saying something in polish. Walking through the camps was terribly depressing and I wanted to find a way to put these feelings into pictures, and this is the results. I hope it reminds everyone that real people lived and died here.

It is beyond belief to me that the holocaust is being denied. But anymore, I should not be surprised. The world is so far out of whack. In some ways, I can tend to be a conspiracy theorist. My dad was in the Army during WWII and he was at one of the Camps 3 days after it was liberated and he saw the prisoners they had nowhere to go and they did look exactly what we have seen in pictures today, that is all he would ever talk about the War and the Camps with me so that tells me a lot of what he felt.

Although the trees and grass have grown again, Jaidemm, and there is a sense of peace there, the atmosphere is strangely heavy. I've been there when there's been hundreds of school children there and not one of them giggled or played about; all were extremely respectful. I find the huts at Birkenau most haunting, so bleak and so cold, you cannot fail to feel the ghosts of suffering when you touch the walls and walk on the broken floors.

The pictures I can't believe at all are authentic 'ghosts', but I can say that artistically speaking, they are beautiful. The fact is there are ghosts of our past there, figuratively, and it's something that we cannot forget, because to forget history is to doom oneself to repeating it.

I've been to Auschwitz numerous times and I don't find it scary so much as extremely moving; and I love your film. I'm sorry you've had to remove nasty comments, but they're all out there, the haters, waiting to pounce. I created these images using long exposures, and the "ghosts" are the other visitors at the camps. I did not want to treat Auschwitz-Birkenau as a dead place, but rather a place that still was alive with the spirits of those who died there.
I recently met 10 survivors at the Dallas Holocaust Museum and met a woman who survived this camp. They were not bitter or pessimistic, but rather happy and full of life and optimism! It was a real teaching moment for me.

Did these photos really turn out like this when they were developed? What did that place "feel" like?Did it have an evil feeling to it? I became friends with an elderly lady who was in Bergen Belsen. I didnt care that she was Jewish...She was my friend, and she gave talks at the local high schools, and some schools out of state to let kids know that them know the horrors of these camps. She died a few years ago, and she said that the smell of a BBQ made her vomit. Rest in peace my friend.

I think the only tormented sould still there are those of SS personnel, even those who died years later. That's their hell, to be at that place where they served and killed, for eternity. @lalalady4216 Artistic licence. I think it's safe to say that with all the prayers that have been said there, for the victims, that they're all free now. I think the only tormented souls still there are those of SS personnel, even those who died years later. That's their hell, to be at that place where they served and killed, for eternity. Perhaps some of the more sadistic Kapos spirits are still there, but the genuine victims, their souls are free!

I suspect that more ghosts would gather around the camp's kitchen...but, it's only a guess. :-)
On a more serious note, before one is to consider ghosts as proof of anything, proof of the ghosts' existence has to be addressed.
But the proof of how desperately you hang on to revisionism is the fact that you'd even consider ghosts as "proof"

On September 3, 1941, the Nazi's experimented on 600 Russian POWs and 250 Polish inmates by gathering them in the basement of Block 11 and gassing them with Zyklon B, a highly lethal cyanide-based pesticide. This paved the way for the use of Zyklon B as an instrument for extermination at Auschwitz, and a gas chamber and crematorium were constructed by converting a bunker. This was at Auschwitz I. Aushcwitz II was larger and killed many more.

When I see these pictures, again, no matter if they are real or not, I feel my heart being pulled from me. I can only hope that most people could believe and remember that these are people just like everyone else. It sickens me how human life ran so cheaply in that time. Children, women, and men of all ages lost their lives in the camps, in the ghettoes, and on the streets of Germany and Austria and Czechoslovakia and all over Europe and in America.

It's heartwrenching. Truly horrific how Hitler and the Nazis could've killed so mercilessly, and I believe those who are holocaust deniers are no better than the nazis. I believe that even if these spirits are real or not, that in Auschwitz and the other concentration camps, are spirits of the Jews who have had their homes, families, and their lives ripped out from under them, because they were unfortunate enough to be born as Jews at this point in time.

I've been there a few times the first was the hardest it was so powerful and made you feel teribaly sad. I went into one of the gas chambers alone and i could hear a little girl crying and saying something in polish. I got scared and left when i went out i looked to see but there was no one near there. so the second time i went i prayed and left a rosemarry. I hope someday those poor souls can move on.
