  • NICE!

  • another great song from this underrated band that most people don't know exists! Too bad. Glad you found this and let us Association fans re-discover these live songs.

  • I think he sounds similar to Jon Anderson of Yes, or Jon sounds like Jules. Hard to say who influenced who.

  • CAUTION: DO NOT write songs about Dubuque.

  • His voice is similar to Paul Simon's.

  • Two people are souless sourpusses.

  • WOW- it has been Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long and then it is as if I was there again- thanks for sharing.

  • Its great to see Brian so happy. He looks very well here and even smiliing some. He had such a cute smile. :)

  • Thanks a lot for this upload! Never expected to see a video of this beautiful song from their best album in my opinion.

  • UNBELIEVABLE. It Makes Me Cry for some reason-HOW the whole world loved this album coming from the most legendary band whose songs were absolutely haunting. Such superb music. Didn't have to recreate their past. It was already spectacular n the music they worked out for the 'Moon' record drove us all further to our adulthood. Can't express what these songs conveyed and meant to us all. Dream a future with the Association intact and singing as they could. Thx to Del Ramos for mixn. SO BEAUTIFUL.

  • I love this song. I would sing it to myself as I walked to h.s. in the predawn hours of my tenth grade year.

  • Live lead vocal, but the rest is the original recording - done by studio musicians.

  • I agree this is one of their best albums. Glad to find this song on YouTube. Love it.

  • I remember the summer of '68 when they played on top of the parking ramp downtown. Dubuque was a great place to grow up and I'll always consider it my home.

  • @catattackxx "Monday bummers"

  • thanks for posting-it made my day...and happy thanksgiving!

  • This song *never* fails to knock me out. It shoulda been a huge hit.

  • i'm from dubuque. .... they played this song here back in the late 60's i believe [i was not there] but some how people here thought they were makin crap out of this town and they got stuff thrown at them [pop & beer cans and the such] they swore the would never return. time heals all wounds........they played here a couple yrs ago, which i also missed lol

  • @highstakesdonk ... Sorry to disappoint you, but I am friends with one of the founding members of the band. And he said it never happened!

  • @sintrade lol. y would that disappoint me. nothing has been cleared up. no one would blame your "friend" for stating what would be in his best interest, even after 40+ years. i dont have a vested interest if it happened or not

  • Yes this is Jules song.

  • Did he (Jules) write this one? It's always been my fave. A sweet voice indeed, and gentle expression...

  • My fave Assoc. song--thanks!!

  • I recall seeing them perform "Under Branches" on television. Possibly on the same show as this performance. I would love to see that video surface!

  • I vividly remember watching this on the Ed Sullivan show - good song, somewhat CSN-like. Jules sounds great here (like always). My mom, with a great ear for music, said, at the time, "He has a fantastic voice". I agree. Now I ask you, why wasn't "Goodbye Forever" released as a single from the self-titled album?

  • I came across this video randomly, loved it, then tried to search for it again, but I think you spelled the title wrong. YouTube is saying it's spelled Dubuque Blues, and so does the Wikipedia page.

Just want to make it easier to find. Let me know if I'm wrong.

    This is a beautiful performance!

  • The thing about the Association is that, even though they're awesome in the studio, they sound even better live. I don't know of too many bands that can make that claim. Great song.

  • Ahhh Jules you guys were all so talented, just blows me away.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS GEM! WISH YOU COULD PUT THE WHOLE ALBUM ON HERE!!!ONE OF THEIR BEST ALBUMS...AGAIN THANK YOU...NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD GET TO SEE THIS ON HERE!!

  • @faroutlindsey

I don't believe there were any other videos made from songs off this album.

  • @BobbyColePopMusic WISH EVEN THE SONGS COULD BE PUT ON WITHOUT A VIDIEO...AMAZED YOU FOUND THIS!! THANK YOU AGAIN!!

  • ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS FROM ONE OF MY FAVORITE ALBUMS! ALBUM WAS A FLOP AT THE TIME...I FEEL IT IS ONE OF THEIR BEST...BEAUTIFUL SONGS ON IT..AS GOOD AS ANY THEY EVER WROTE!

  • One of the few that Jules sang lead. Great song all around and he is such a terrific song writer. I'd love to see him and Terry Kirkman with the others one more time.

  • After all these years I thought that Jim Yester sang this song. Oooops.

  • Great video, thanks for posting it. I didn't know Jules sung this song. I just had never thought about who sung it.

Saw a episode of Carson Daly a couple months ago where they had a segment about a guy who carves designs into celebrities guitars. Anyhow in the interview he mentioned how the first instrument he carved into was for Brian Cole of the Association. I'm assuming it's the bass in the video.

  • @Rogert79 yes Brain Cole was the bass player

  • @Cody33198 I know, I just didn't know if he had more than one carved instrument. The interview I mention with Doug Rowell is on youtube. Just do a search for carverdoug and it's like the third video. Also his website has a a picture of one that he did for Russ.

  • That's the studio track...not live. Jules is singing live...that's about it.

  • Wonderful version! Treasures like this are why they are one of favorite groups!

  • What a great song! Jules' sweet vocal meshes well with the song's overall tone. Also, I feel this video highlights how well Brian's voice resonates.

With that said, I never understood why they turned this song into a rocker on the "Live" album. Brian has a great rock-n-roll voice, but the rock version took away from the song's emotional context in my opinion.

Lastly, Brian's bass guitar looks awesome. It looks like someone carved a design out of Brian's bass.

  • You could of thought of a better comment than that.

  • Wow! Great to see this. One of my favorite songs by the band and definitely my fave from the self-titled LP.

  • An excellent tune, and new on me. Thank you, it was a treat.

  • Your not mistaken. This is from Ed Sullivan..

    .

  • A great posting!! What show? Thanks Bobby,,,you are amazing!

  • I may be mistaken, but I believe these were taped for the Ed Sullivan Show. This one and the "Seven Man Band" version on Bobby Cole's Facebook page. Both have always been favorites of mine.

  • Thanks for info.

  • this is from november 9th 1969
