The Venture was structurally identical from 1997 to 2005, so this 1997 test applies to 97-05 models. This test doesn't award stars but is based on a scale of Good/Acceptable/Marginal/Poor; the Venture was rated Poor.
dude! chinese cars aren't allowed, but this sh*t is being sold everywhere around the world!! when was the last time u have seen a chinese car on the street tell me, i really hate them tho but american cars what the hell!
Well yes the from 97-2002 The Chevy And Pontiac Were Rated Bad
But you guys gotta know Car Companies can Do Stufuf to the Structure by reinforcing the structure which they have i got into an accident like this at that same speed and i got the result from the SV6 New Design for the Unibody
the best way to avoid this is buy a minivan that doesn't crush you. its always good to know the safety before u buy this van...if gm dealerships show this vid to potential buyers nobody would buy this van. if they showed them what happens they might have saved alot of lives but i guess gm rather make a profit for every death this van has been responsible for.
the safety flaw in this van was the entire front suspension and the a-pillar support. the rear weight of the van put extreme stress on that a-pillar. they reduced the weight of the van by a few 100lbs i think and the van got a whole new suspension and bumper to help absorb all that energy away from the a-pillar
Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. After moving forward into the airbag, the dummy's head and neck were snapped rearward as the steering wheel intruded. Then the dummy's head was hit from behind by the seatback and head restraint as they tilted forward because of floor buckling. The seat continued moving forward and pushed down on top of the dummy's head, bending its neck back even farther.
Injury measures — Measures taken from the chest indicate low risk of injuries to this body region in a crash of this severity. Forces on the neck indicate that injuries to the neck would be likely. Forces on both tibias indicate that injuries to the lower legs would be likely. The forces on the left lower leg were so high that the dummy's metal foot broke off from its leg at the ankle.
A Dodge Neon can do better than this....

This test is apparently legendary at IIHS. The new generation Uplander/Relay/Terraza etc. did much better however.

@yourwifecalledagain yes it is. they still talked about it as of aug 5, 2008.

How does the 2004 venture hold up? Is it identical to the van in this crash? How many stars did this vehicle get?

What a piece of crap. There's some people who say these IIHS tests are rigged because they drive cars that fail the tests and can't handle the truth.

Gee. More brillance from an after-the-fact-er. That's what they said after the Ford Pinto.
