The theme song to Insatiable is called "Shame on me" and is indeed sung by Marilyn Chambers. It was released as a 45 RPM single (which I own) with the flip-side being "Morning, Noon and Nighttime" which is also sung by her and featured in Insatiable. The 'R' rated version of Insatiable was originally created by Pioneer Video for release on LaserDisc - they did the edit and everything. Insatiable II is the only porno mixed in SQ Quadraphonic sound. The DVD is SQ encoded too.
Hey Mr. AussieRoadshow, greetings from New Jersey, USA! I'm loving all these trailers & info on genre & adult films from the 70's & 80's, please keep 'em comin'!! :)
Yes that velvet box thing was a great score. I hear Devil in Miss Jones is a bit 'darker' than your average adult film. Maybe not much to whip your stick to, but nevertheless a good retro film experience!
Yeh I definitely want to catch some of Radley Metzger's hardcore flicks! And another one of his 'Maraschino Cherry' that I haven't seen yet. Annette Haven is amazing. And Georgina Spelvin must have been the first queen of DP in "Devil" lol.
A couple of other great 70s smut flicks I saw recently were 'Fantasy' and 'Star Virgin'.
Yea! This channel shows lot of love for Marilyn! Wow she did a commentary for one of her films, outta sight! Nice I see you have the essentials. I still have to see most of those and Devil in Miss Jones. Hope it goes well! Great stuff, thanks for posting!
I have the i-Candy Insatiable release and the 'cable' version on an old UK videotape from TCX. I would've bought the VCX special edition if it contained the more explicit material supposedly deleted from the Marilyn Chambers - Serena scene, but by all accounts the 2 versions are identical (in content). I'm beginning to wonder if this legendary footage really exists. How does the Aussie VHS compare with i-Candy's DVD?
The X-rated VHS shown here is an exact replica of the i-Candy DVD. As you probably know the 'cable' version contained substituted scenes that weren't in the X version (same thing with Insatiable 2).
That Marilyn-Serena scene did seem a bit disjointed. I've never seen any variations, and wonder if it's just another urban myth. Having said that, I have not come across the original X home video release from 1984 either, which could be a different version again!
I find downloads useful if I've never seen the film before. It makes sense to watch it first before buying the DVD, and the chances of my local Blockbuster stocking the type of film I usually watch, are completely non-existent! Then if I like the film, I'll buy the DVD if it contains any worthwhile extras, or quite often because I like the artwork / packaging. Downloads will never be collectible though!
Roadshow tapes are so awesome...love seeing those. And I agree that it does sound like her singing the title song. On another point with which I could not agree more, I refuse to download movies to watch. The experience is not the same.
Yeah I agree! I don't download now for a few reasons. One, I like to have the product in my hands, and be able to watch it in any player. Second, I think it's important to support the companies that release old obscure films. Could you imagine if a company like Code Red or Blue Underground didn't make money? I mean companies like Warner and Universal would NEVER re-release films like Emanuelle in America, or Nightmare!

@lovemylogics
Thanks for the information! There was no track listing in the credits, but many of us assumed it was Marilyn singing.
I presumed the R-rated edited version was for cable, and later for release on home video and laserdisc.

Somewhere, I've got an autographed picture, taken with Ms. Chambers quite a few years ago when she appeared at a local pealer bar here in Toronto.
Lovely lady she was!

My partner met her back in 1982 at the Chicago CES. He was 16 at the time and said she was so nice and smelled really good. What a class act she was!

@AussieRoadshow
"Devil" was DEFINITELY dark.
For lighter classic fare, try "Barbara Broadcast."
I've never forgotten that "Number 17 Salad!"

Oh yes, and hearing her talk about one of her sex scenes while it plays in the background, whoah! Surreal. :P
