  • so it was 137 at the wheels? im just curious because i have a b16a with some dc 4-2-1 headers and i wanna know a rough estimate at how much hp im getting.

  • @fitimio001 yea im not too sure man. i had a buddy just get tuned and he had 287 hp at the crank but only 216 at the wheels. so im sure it can't be that drastic of a lose for my motor. he has a trubo tc

  • @lccs187 Wow that is a huge difference O.o I would be happy to have 160 at the wheels on NA. I would LOVE to have 220 NA at the wheels. The would be a dream... I dont really like turbos, I love the sound of a nicely tuned naturally aspirated engine. MMmmmmm

    I guess. The B16A2 VTEC makes 160hp stock, that's all I know because the only b16 I'm interested in is the '94 Sol engine.

    Also this isn't a stock engine if you've got bolt-on's. Exactly what tuning can you do with bolt-on's anyway?

  • IT is called a base line............ So when you do put turbos and what not you will know what you gained.

  • putting a stock engine on a dyno IS a good idea. you get a baseline number, something to work with, then you can appeciate your modifications and see the improvments you've made.

  • got some power but yea make some mods to it and see the difference

  • 137whp stock, just a good header, intake, and exhaust away from 150whp. Then some ITR/stg. 1 cams with tuning might put you up to 160whp.

But in your case I wouldn't waste my time putting your slow ass SOHC engine on the dyno either. These videos are here for people who actually might have the same setup and may want to know what the number are dipshit!

  • how are you supposed to see the changes in power over stock if you dont know what the stock whp is? thats why people dyno there motor stock first, then they dyno the motor with there mods to see the power increase.

  • my plan is to get a b16 engine. for around 2 thousand dollars. then a cool air intake and thats it. my civic cost me 1500 bucks. sooo thats less than 4000 dollars for a pretty quick car that will get me to and from places pretty quick. and it would be fun to drive in traffic.

  • @tbird1028 During this time I had the basic bolt-ons which was, Intake, Stock header, and Apexi WS2 Full exhuast.

  • Just put a B16A JDM in my EG hacth si. Stopped by to check it out. Power loss on a motor from crank to wheel = 18-20%

    USDM B16A3

    20% of 160hp is 32hp

    80% is 128hp

    JDM B16A Gen2 (some argue that there's no diff b/t USDM and JDM motors)

    20% of 170hp is 34hp

    So 136hp is what a 'stock' (no three bolts...nada) B16 from Japan is supposed to run. (if there's a PROVEN difference I'd love to know)

    Motor is right there (being stock) but we didn't see it and if its got other mods well we can't tell

  • My stock B16 with an AEM 3 inch cai, RSR headers, 2.5 inch exhaust, type r intake cam, and a tuned type r ECU put down 172 whp could you fucking believe that! everyone at the dyno hit the ground and started laughing, they have never seen a practically stock B16 put down those kind of numbers! Oh yea i bought the motor from japan and it looked almost brand new with new gold bolts everywhere!

  • the engine was stock when it was on the dyno. so its measure at the wheel. factory hp are measured at the flywheel, so its about right to be around 140
