Fallout 1 and 2 on steam? I would never get that, I have the originals or I would buy non steam versions. People are being weird lately, asking what is on the cover or asking if this person was in Fallout 2. If you did not play the old good (BEST of whole series) Fallout 1 and 2 then why play 3 and NV? OH, and quick tip: Low strength. I'm serious. In the Brotherhood bunker you can increase your strength by 1. And a power armor gets you more strength. each point above 10 is wasted.
Also, if you pick up the faster HtH Attacks, and 10 Agility, you can attack 5(!!!) times a turn with a powerfist. Screw your big gun.
In Fallout1 I managed to get it to 10 times each turn.

i played fallout 2 after playing 3 and i liked the turn based combat but i like the fact that they have added reminders from the older games in 3 and in NV, the remanants armour just brings the brings back the midless killing machine that very fallout needs.
The first and second were their own game, to match what they were was attempted many times and failed many times. Fallout 3 and New Vegas was a totally different series, New Vegas severely disappointing me the most. When the next one comes out, I'm going to buy it in hopes that it will be improved, more like the first 2, but you and me both know that won't happen.

I've discovered the serie with fallout 3 and it was a blast to me (i haven't played a lot of western rpg before that, just deus ex, mass effect and jagged alliance 2 wich is still one of my fav game of all time). I wish it has a more dark and adult tone tough :( (like you can't go see prostitues, kill children, and the line between good and evil was too obvious), the main quest was kinda lame too...
@Dja05 After playing F3, I started reading wiki about the fallout universe and it really made me wanting to play the first episodes, so I bought the first one, and just loved the settings, the environment, etc...
A few things bugged me tough, you coulnd't rely only on small arms like in F3 and have to switch to energy weapons. Also, I felt like fallout lacked a bit of content (i did pretty much everything there was to do on my first playtrough according some walktrough i've found on the web,
@Dja05 You didn't have to go with energy weapons in the end of F1. Shooting enemies' eyes out worked wonders, especially when you shot the the eyes out of the last super mutant in a row after which he would tear open a couple mutants when he fired his minigun.
You can stick with the sniper rifle through the end.
@dhshrh I actually never even heard of fallout until fallout 3 was advertised. So you're right, It would have slowly faded away. I know it's different from the originals, but it appeals to what a lot of people want now days: Tons of things to do, a lot to explore, and for some people, good graphics.
@RetroBleck fallout 1 and 2 had far more of things to do and to explore.
but they create most of the atmosphere with written dialogs, albeit I'm not forgetting the superb soundtrack and the top notch animation and violence that the 3rd part tries to recreate.

I guess you're right, i was too young for that brainfucking. But really, still it amazes me, of how incredibly ingenious the terrifying atmosphere of it was, especially when you sneak in the night to the computer to play it. Still my favorite game, just none of modern ones can even stand close to it.

Its just you, noone to help you noone to be there for you. I have an weird thing, that i really get into the game. I close off from reality and focus just on the thing that im playing. This song is great, and I love the story for the first two games. Unfortunately, I struggle to play them myself because of the turn-based combat. If they were remade in the style of Mass Effect or even Fallout 3 (though preferably without all the bugs FO3 suffers from), I'd be incredibly happy.
the turn-based combat is fine for dated games - too bad you can't stand it - it's nostalgic - sort of like ff tactics (but more Blooooooood and gore + whores xD)
There is, FOOK has it, and Fallout Nexus has the suit available as a Stand Alone mod as well as tons of other Mods that bring all the Classic weapons and their sounds back in, like a Trusty Wattz 2000 Laser Rifle or Winchester 96 Plasma Rifle.
or perhaps a Cattle Prod, or Vindicator Minigun, or even an H&K Caws or G-11, or P90 or 14mm Pistol, or .223 Pistol
Fallout 1 and 2 are great RPG maybe the best in my opinion, fallout 3 is nice and inmersive and makes pretty good shooting but it's not the same feeling
im so sad that this wasen't in fallout 3 i loved the first and second one so much more but the combat in fallout 3 seemed better but back in the day fallout was the game.
But still good. It's just gone in a different direction.
Personally (and I know someone's going to give me a thumbs down for this) but I enjoyed the Third one the most. One and Two were fantastic, but the turn based combat and Isometric view I didn't enjoy as much.
I just found the Third one a lot more fun and immersive.

But I got the Fallout 3 collector edition for chrismas 08 and I must say it is the best game I have ever played ( so far).
Then I got NV but that bored me and I lost intrest quick.
then a few days ago I went on Amazon and bought the Fallout Collection plus first class P+P it came to 5.38.

Van Buren actually started production on Fallout 3, But ceased in 2004,
than Bethesda took the troubles and worked on it until it's initial release of 2008.
Than Fallout New Vegas was released by InterPlay entertainment in: 2010

There's a lot of talk about the fallout serie here, i'll just add my brick to the wall :)
I've discovered the serie with fallout 3 and it was a blast to me (i haven't played a lot of western rpg before that, just deus ex, mass effect and jagged alliance 2 wich is still one of my fav game of all time). I wish it has a more dark and adult tone tough :( (like you can't go see prostitues, kill children, and the line between good and evil was too obvious), the main quest was kinda lame too...

@Dja05 After playing F3, I started reading wiki about the fallout universe and it really made me wanting to play the first episodes, so I bought the first one, and just loved the settings, the environment, etc...
A few things bugged me tough, you coulnd't rely only on small arms like in F3 and have to switch to energy weapons. Also, I felt like fallout lacked a bit of content (i did pretty much everything there was to do on my first playtrough according some walktrough i've found on the web,

@Dja05 You didn't have to go with energy weapons in the end of F1. Shooting enemies' eyes out worked wonders, especially when you shot the the eyes out of the last super mutant in a row after which he would tear open a couple mutants when he fired his minigun.
You can stick with the sniper rifle through the end.

@dhshrh I actually never even heard of fallout until fallout 3 was advertised. So you're right, It would have slowly faded away. I know it's different from the originals, but it appeals to what a lot of people want now days: Tons of things to do, a lot to explore, and for some people, good graphics.

but they create most of the atmosphere with written dialogs, albeit I'm not forgetting the superb soundtrack and the top notch animation and violence that the 3rd part tries to recreate.
that is probably the main problem. the main stream of people don't want to turn on a game and *read* ^^

well for me i just downloaded a mod called "More where it came from" from the fallout nexus. there are many songs included in the mod. This song is also included on the mod. I dont know if you could put your own tune. i havent tried it yet.

I started playing fallout when i wuz 9 years old. This song makes me feel worm, but That image of the advanced power armor's helmet is scaring me psihicaly... It just somehow.... Stays in my mind forever... Still im 14 and im afraid of it and ive done fallout 1 and 2 about 7 times but it still gives me the creeps playing it... The man who made that game really thought about how to get into peoples minds. :D

@wavefuncproduction Heh, I've always been more mentally mature than others of my age... I got the game better than my older brothers and stuff, but yeah, it kinda left me with a scar. I guess you're right, i was too young for that brainfucking. But really, still it amazes me, of how incredibly ingenious the terrifying atmosphere of it was, especially when you sneak in the night to the computer to play it. Still my favorite game, just none of modern ones can even stand close to it.

@wavefuncproduction That, from my opinion, was only one of the biggest factors. But to me, it was that, you know that you are completely alone. Its just you, noone to help you noone to be there for you. I have an weird thing, that i really get into the game. I close off from reality and focus just on the thing that im playing. And at that time of my life, when my imagination was at its biggest heights, it was painful to play the game but i couldnt get off of it. Just an extraordinary experience

This song is great, and I love the story for the first two games. Unfortunately, I struggle to play them myself because of the turn-based combat. If they were remade in the style of Mass Effect or even Fallout 3 (though preferably without all the bugs FO3 suffers from), I'd be incredibly happy.
Or I could just suck it up and press on ;p.

There is, FOOK has it, and Fallout Nexus has the suit available as a Stand Alone mod as well as tons of other Mods that bring all the Classic weapons and their sounds back in, like a Trusty Wattz 2000 Laser Rifle or Winchester 96 Plasma Rifle.

Fallout 1 and 2 are great RPG maybe the best in my opinion, fallout 3 is nice and inmersive and makes pretty good shooting but it's not the same feeling

But still good. It's just gone in a different direction.
Personally (and I know someone's going to give me a thumbs down for this) but I enjoyed the Third one the most. One and Two were fantastic, but the turn based combat and Isometric view I didn't enjoy as much.
I just found the Third one a lot more fun and immersive.
