If it's real, It's great. If not, it's still achievable by teaching the dog how many times he should bark with the hand signal. So, with a simple dog trick, they'll trick Humans. :)

If I were teaching this I would just say "speak" the number of times I wanted them to bark and gradually change that to a hand signal then to the verbal cue "wats 8-6" or whatever

Any one can do this, you just need a video recorder a dog and about one our of your time. you make aleatory !math questions" to your dog, if he barks the right number of times you save the record if he doesnt you dont, simple, pick in about 10 lucky records and you ate good to go. this is utterly unsupported scientifically.. dogs know math, tis true.. but only so far as it aids in survival.. the difference between 5 and 4 is negligible and therefore NOT something they actually care about. I had my 2 GSDs in SCIENTIFICALLY based math tests.. they only distinguish between amounts that relate to survival

It may be that the dog really learned math, however I believe it's far more likely that tab289 just taught his dog to bark on, say, a hand motion. So he says 2+2 and for example, twitches with his hand 4 times.

@NoraHaidar this totally depends on the dog its atttude and its drives...for the dog to want to bark it has to be at a level of frustration, a way to do this is to have something the dog realy wants and not let him have it...some dogs you can just tie to a fence walk away waving a ball and they bark others you may need to put thier food behing a gate so they cant reach it...different ways for different dogs its just findng the mechanism that works on your dog...:) hope this helped

@crypticprowler When your dog barks tap him on the nose with a muzzle whislt saying "no barking" then put the muzzle on immediately. Leave the muzzle on for about 10 minutes. You have to do all this whilst he's in the act, if you do it after the event he won't understand why he's being punished. After you've done this a few times say no barking first and then resort to the muzzle if he carries on. After a while he'll get it and you'll very rarely have to resort to the muzzle.
