@Demolishonboy Nope. He never took the balls out. He only pretended he did. If you look closely at the first cup (the one closer to the camera), you see that while he *does* pick it up, he puts it back again while lowering the cup. ;)

So...Teller, in playing "dumb", actually had the correct answer. The magician was hoping Teller would say there was only 1 ball because he was tricking teller into thinking he saw him sneak the balls away. I confuse.

@file83 The magician knew who Teller was. It didn't matter what Teller said, he knew that Teller thought that all three balls were under the middle cup based on what a magician's eye would pick up and assume. He fooled Teller by pretending to remove all of the balls from the cups and pretended to put them all in the middle, he tricked a trained eye by using his knowledge against himself. Teller was very pleased to be fooled and enjoy a trick. Not something they experience often.

Teller has said in interviews he doesn't speak because he started doing his act for rowdy drunk college students who would yell shit out and interrupt him as he set up a trick. So he would do his entire act in silence. As the tricks he did got more and more complex (and gruesome) the audience would quiet down to the point where you could hear a pin drop.
