It was a wise decision to give the Master System its own game instead of simply delivering a downgraded port of the Genesis brother World of Illusion.
I played this as a kid, it is incredible to re-experience it!, i used alot of time trying to beat this game back then hehe. I got angry and sad when i continually failed those levels, although i did manage to beat the game as a kid i must say it has healed my broken childheart a bit to see the whole game done in 50 min. :), i dont know if it is because i played this as a kid but i think it is one of the nicest games i ever saw.
i had this on gamegear, played for bloody ages, got near the end and died, never did finish it so looking forward to seeing it here. i have the rom for ds, might have to give it another go now :)
i play this game right now on a MS emulator for PSP... :D
now i know why i can't pass the giant plant stage... because i didn't notice the hole in the piramid stage... and i miss the shoes for walking on clouds.. :/
Yeah. Most people think of NES graphics when they think of 8-bit.
What's funny is that both systems are very close in terms of hardware power -- the only real advantage of the Master System being just a couple more colours on-screen: Basically, for each shade in a NES game, there's two on the MS.
That's not a lot of colour depth at all, but at this low-end tech level, that makes a whole lot of visual difference, as you can see here.
The NES supported 4-bit color depth (16 colors on screen at once) also known as EGA graphics within the x86 PC industry. The SMS supported 5-bit color depth (32 colors on screen at once), this color depth was used in the OCS chipset on Amiga computers (although the OCS supported both 32 color & 64 color (6-bit)).
In other words a CPU's bits has nothing to do with a system or computers graphic ability or color depth ability, 2 completely different things. :)
@Chaniyth The onscreen color counts aren't too far apart (SMS: 31, NES: 25), but the NES has some maddening limitations regarding how and where colors can be used. Max colors in a single 8x8 sprite for SMS and NES respectively: 15, 3
there are a lot of hidden trasure and passage on this game

This is one of the games that shows the hardware capabilities of the system,
nice and colourful graphics, smooth animation and scroll.
If only Sega implemented the fm chip in every master system...

Hm, Is there any real Long play for this game? I mean collecting all stars? I could find a lot in my childhood but not everyone.

I know many people won't agree with me, but I think this was one of the best, if not the best, game released for the Master System.

no, not nearly in most things. The SMS has 4 times the main ram and 8 times of graphic ram and most custom Chips are more powerful then in the NES.
