Kirby had a power similar to King Dedede's Down Special in Kirby Superstar. The Hammer ability has different attacks, one of which Kirby's hammer literally gets fired up and hits the enemy with extreme force that it creates a fire effect. Though the idea of King Dedede having a mechanized hammer is new, this move could have been based on that. :)
The game had to be in development at the time and the fact that both are mecha hammer cant just be a coincidence plus this video has terrible quality and I only used super star so I will definitely redo this one later.
Kirby Super Star Ultra has new features that the original Kirby Superstar didn't have. Masked Dedede only appeared in Ultra. Since Kirby Super Star Ultra was released after Brawl, that means that the mechanical hammer is new to brawl.
@TheBrawlMaster Did you know that the Ultra means that it was originally for the Super Nintendo? Ultra is the remake for the DS. The first release was KIRBY SUPERSTAR! 8 GAMES IN 1! And I played the shit out of it as a kid.
@sagespoo Did you know that Kirby Super Star Ultra had new features that were not present in the original SNES version ? 4 new games were added, including The Revenge of the King, which features Masked Dedede. Masked Dedede first appeared in Kirby Super Star Ultra, which was released after Brawl.
While this is true, Masahiro Sakurai, creator of SSBB, is also the creator of Kirby, so while the mecha hammer appeared first in Brawl, I doubt the appearence of a mecha hammer in both games was a coincidence. Just a thought,
Actually, King Dedede's down B comes from Kirby Superstar. Kirby has a special move with the hammer ability which is basically a giant fiery uppercut w/ the hammer, and it looks exactly like the move from SSBB.
Yeah but it doesn't really matter if it's a song or a move. Both games were released fairly soon after Brawl's release so, I don't think that it's too farfetched to assume that DeDeDe's Bv came from KSSU. After all, when I first saw Masked DeDeDe, I thought of his BV in Brawl.
Actually, it may be the other way around. Kirby and the Amazing Mirror had Master Hand from SSBM, even though it came afterwards. Super Star Ultra might have also borrowed the mechanized hammer from SSBB. Kirby and SSB are both from the same developer.
*facepalm* Master Hand originated from the original SSB, which was out long before KatAM was even a concept. The game just borrowed him, as the guy who makes SSB games is the guy who makes Kirby games. But he started as a SSB boss who made an appearance in a Kirby game, not the other way around.
lol did not see that last one coming

Kirby Super Star Ultra was released 6 months after Brawl, so Dedede's down B cannot come form this game.

He just likes showing the Kirby Super Star version, because of it being superior, but of course it is best to show its true origin.

waddle dees, waddle doo's and gordo's appeared in kirby's dreamland originally.
the slide, suck up, super jump and scream at the end of the fight were also in this game originally

I know I just used superstar for convenience and I am redoing it later because the brawl quality sucks

Sakurai probably used the Jet Hammer as a test to see if the fans liked it, and since they did, he created Masked Dedede....

You forgot to say that ,even rarer than Gordo, Dedede can throw a capsule
godoftoaster1 2 years ago
not really because that has nothing to do with history of Dedede's moveset
Brawltheories 2 years ago
what? capsule?
Merettich 2 years ago
Yes, when performing the move King Dedede has a slight chance to throw a random item, including a capsule.

dedede also performs an attack that looks exactly like his down b in brawl, that's where I believe his attack comes from.

Yes but Wario's victory theme is from Wario Land: Shake it! Which came out after Brawl, as well.
