WDW's Space Mountain will be closing from April 19, 2009 to late November 2009 to add new special effects, a replacement ride track hopefully to be more smooth than how it is now, and a new music track to go with the ride. It will be similar to Disneylands except it won't be closed as long as Disneyland's refurb, but it will still be awesome!

They are redoing Space mountain, hopefuly making it faster and scarier with more drops. The only problem is that it is closed til november 2009 and i am going the beginning of June. :(

Those Tokyo Cast Members are awesome compared to the ones here in America. Look at how those hostesses continually move and spiel and gesture and thank riders over and over and over again. The American Cast Members could learn quite a lot from their Tokyo counterparts!

But they weren't even checking restraints! The moment everyone was sitting down, the ride started moving. Looks pretty unsafe. Customer service is one thing, safety is more important.

I think the reason for that is, the large amount of people that go to Tokyo Disney. I mean it is in a place that is over populated and they still get tourists on top of that! So they need to find a way to coup with that. I see your point, but in able to have proficiency they have to sacrifice other things. But out of there I am pretty sure it is safe =]

actually, all the space mtns (except Paris) load in the same manner.

when you first sit down, the restraints are still unlocked. once the train moves to the first "holding" area, the restaints are locked. it is here your restraints are checked by the attendant.

many disney rides use this same functionality...indiana jones adventure, dinosaur and test track and all have a holding area where restraints are locked and checked.

I heard the space mountain in tokyo doesn't check the restraints either

They check the restraints the cars move up to make room for the other cars to come in and stops before it goes up the hill. That's when they check them.

Thats not where they check restraints.

The train moves up into a "staging" area, and the ride op checks the restraints there before dispatching the train to lift A.

The ships engine at :09 is awesome! I love the effects and the lights too! Man this is ride themeing done at best! Gotta love how they spend millions of dollars to get this looking good!

um.... no anaheims space mountain loading area is the best. we have better ambeint lighitng and a ship that LOOKS like a spaceship instead og a godzilla thing.... also our quee lines are better...
