I don't get it. Shatner wasn't this hyperactive, in fact he was quite the opposite, always as cool as a cat. That's what differs him so from Picard. I recently saw that one episode with the two aliens chasing each other, one takes over the ship, and Kirk simply threatens to blow up the ship without breaking a sweat. A fantastic moment for the captain and actor. And this is nothing like it. Nope. I don't get it. The TNG parody was much better.

I'm not sure if this is the intention of the parody, but, look up Norman Bates from "Psyco" movies. That character has the same intonation as Captain Kirk here. I think that's part of the joke; you'd have to be aware of that.

I'm fully aware of Norman Bates. 'Psycho' is one of my favourite movies of all time. But isn't it a bit of a stretch to draw in a character from a totally different movie just because his voice is similar? Do you have to be aware of other movies as well, just to get this joke? Because if it is, it's a really bad one. They can't just do something completely random and say it's funny because they meant to do something. Show it. Have there be a Psycho reference in it! But there isn't.
