@AndreyACM if your a heavy metal listen you need to realize that heavy metal came from jazz ... so you should listen to more jazz then heavy metal if you want to really learn how to play
thx gromshit101 ! please believe me when i tell you that i don't know use scales or modes. i just jazz around the melody.check my profile and my lesson # 10. hopefully that will explain it
Wow you are an amazing musician, for how long have you been playing jazz guitar? I was trained as a classical guitarist and I am just starting to learn about jazz. I play rock music but I am still a toddler when it comes to jazz. Thanks for posting these videos!
thx 00mcra7x00! C or C6-F or F6 works i prefer F#dim to Fm6.these are tthe basic chords.i can't put up every possible substitute.too many different ways to play the chords
Oh this rules!! First thing in the morning I'm gonna try and learn this thing!! Or... Maybe just part of it. But I love your videos!! I'm 16, and I love jazz, and your style is the best! Thank you!!
I'm with you freddym223 I know the basic structure of the peice I'm playing - and depending on the mood is what I chuck in in terms of the run I play or chord fillers I throw in. Having said that I agree that you still need to know the rudiments that provide you with the abilit to do that. Geeze I love the easy way you play though!!!
cool. I'm sure though that the way you have been doing it has served the same purpose as learning scales - you know where to put your fingers for the sounds you want to play.
The way you play that guitar makes the sound very beautiful! You should give out guitar lessons if you don't already! You are very good. I could really listen to more of your songs if they all sound as lovely as this one!
There's an old Bessie Smith song called"Nobody Knows You When Your Down And Out" with the same progression. Clapton later did it and added his style to it. It can be played every style imaginable. Django really took to this proggression too. Thanks for the post
Haha yeah, lucky you to live in the usa! Pff, it's very difficult for me. You know, i don't understand a lot of things about improvisation because i don't know how to play from a C6 to a E7 chord for example, sometimes i hear it in my head and it works but i may not know how to make the transition. There must be a trick, right?
Ok,i see, lol! I will listn to robert fripp's advice: begin were you are and before you do something, do nothing and that works every time. Just keeping practice with the key cycle for a while, see if that solves my problem with improvising. But thanks anyway lol. talk to you later! Regards.
Often the best solo can be just playing the melody. The guitar has a unique timber that can be exploited. If you listen to this solo you can hear the melody surrounded by very tasteful embellishments. That is what makes this solo so musical. Quit looking for a mathematical solution by thinking about scales and modes. Put the melody first. The rest will come to you.
Dear freddym223. I am learning to play the trombone right now and love to play along your version of the song. Thanks for inspiration and having a good time!
thanks a lot freddy for adding me and for giving me a smile with this wonderfull song and this magnificent improvisation . thanks for making my day :)
Dear Freddy: Iget exactly 1:56 minutes of this song perfect, I hope get this ready before the end of December, then I wil send the video, for you opinion. Thanks master for your motivation Fernando (chile)
I friend of mine from the 60s used to play Steele Guitar Rag on his ES335, simple, clean, and articulate at a danceable tempo for 2 verses, then the next 4 or 5 verses got faster and faster and faster till the rest of the band was worn out...I've never seen anyone in 40 years that could do it like him and still sound clean to the last note, but I'd love to see you do it. I KNOW YOU CAN!!!
