The one with Alfredo, wtf? Did he just misread the board, didn't realize jacks full of 2's now beat his 9's full? Or did he seriously believe the other guy would have to put him on J9 or quad 2s since he can see his cards... incredible, weird
I disagree with 2 and 4 being embarrassing, but certainly the others! #2 was just sick and one of the only times the players were NOT justified in berating Hellmuth IMO (that is NOT a slow roll). #4 is just funny haha.
I disagree with 2 and 4 being embarrassing, but certainly the others! #2 was just sick and one of the only times the players were NOT justified in berating Hellmuth IMO (that is NOT a slow roll). #4 is just funny haha.
@you2besux I'm not saying it is all luck...you still have to make the right percentage call most of the time, but even if you are in really good shape like 73% to 27% you will still lose 1 out of every 3-4 times. In a real sport where luck is a minor factor like baseball, basketball, football, hockey, etc. real skill will prevail almost always. Sure you have to know what you are doing, but the game (not sport) will always be a game of LUCK.
@you2besux Will any person ever repeat in a WSOP main event again? Probably not. The field has gotten huge. I don't care if you had 1000 players play against kobe or MJ they would lose in a pick up game. Put me 1 on 1 with Phil Ivey in a critical situation in the main event and even when his skill gives him a big edge say his JJ over my 22, he would still lose one in 5 times. It is a game of LUCK, although skill means you win more.
@SocrTrump If you played long enough like the pros do then the prob and odds become facts. The part where i comment on it will never be more than a game of luck lies in the problem of timing. Although its a fact that in the odds are what they are it still doesn't mean that because you do the "right thing" that you will win.It is luck at that point.Even in a great spot, the stats and prob don't=a win, where as in another sport doing the "right thing" and having better skill would= a win
@thaiblacky That's why pros are always thinking long term. It still stings more emotional pros like Hellmuth to lose a pot when you did the right thing, but they all are more focused on their overall results rather than a specific session. I would argue that the simple fact that they play so often eliminates the problem of "timing".
That being said - I totally agree skill is a higher factor in other sports. Skill isn't completely lacking from poker though. That's how pros are just that: pros!
Jennifer ( the actress) Tilly marries a poker player and all of a sudden she is a poker player too i guess really u just need the money to play with pro's
@kojakDD It's called ,,slow playing" the kings. You disguise your hand by not raising. Slow roll is for example when in the end you have the nuts or 2nd nuts and you take 2 minutes before making a call. I also don't understand why they make such a fuss. Dude could easily have pocket 10's. Even if it was unlikely and Phil was gonna call for 100% he could take a minute or two. Someone who plays poker for some time knows everything is possible.
@matim90 whenever you have high cards ex: AK, AA, KK, KQ, QQ... unless youre on BB or SB and everyones folded you don't want to slow play because youll get all the small cards like 10 9, J 9, A 2... on the flop and have your high cards killed... anyway poker is always a game of circumstances but a general rule applys to all the champions ( make the high cards pay)
the chances of getting aces preflop is also less than one percent, but because it is possible to play about 200 hands per hour on one table one could get aces once an hour, but in reality sometimes one can get many pocket aces in one hour and other times one can go many days before getting pocket aces. that's just gambling
@matim90 So raising to 12,600 with A9 off suit is slow rolling? Wiggins with the straddle on with KK only calls the raise. Shouldn't he re raise with the hand? Because he doesn't, he also gets Doyle and Tony G in the pot. In the end he came out smelling like a rose and Phil gets accused of slow rolling.
In the Phil vs. loose cannon. Why are the other player accusing Phil of slow rolling? He bets 12,600 before the flop with A9 off suit, then bets 17,000 after the flop. Wiggins raises then Phil moves all in and Wiggins calls with Kings. Then the table turns on Phil and accuses him of slow rolling. Where was the slow roll? If anyone was slow rolling it was Wiggins with the kings pre flop.
@kojakDD err noo... Wiggins slowplay the kings. But I also don't know why the whole table accuses Hellmuth of slowrolling, he certainly did some bad and out of character hollywooding, but he wasn't holding the nuts, and from what I saw there's still a sizeable amount of chips left with Wiggins, that he still need to make him send them to the pot.
Antonius after getting crushed by Robl : " It reminds me of Sammy Farha... he used to do this to me . " As a lone tear falls to the floor lol poor guy my heart aches for you (not)
@RedWingsFan931 . It's a mindgame. That guy with 99 KNOWS what the other one has and STILL he shoves. Jacks full isn't the nuts so there is a possibility that jacks full can lose. It's a huge mindfuck. In the end it doesn't matter if your hand can only lose to one specific hand. It just matters that you CAN lose. Especially in that situation.
@FadedConceptz he could have showed tilly twice hehe i remember in a heads up she does the same but with the nuts on the river haha and she said she didnt raise beacauz she thought he had the nuts too ;p
@gix500 If you go to those illegal houses running poker games you would probably get your ass kicked. Still, it is not considered very ethical to give that kind of speech. And yes, it is considered a slow roll since hellmuth took a long ass time to push all in. You can take your time to make a play, but giving a speech and pushing all in with pretty much the nuts can get you in trouble. This is more likely between amateurs and looks really bad if a pro does this.
I also nominate Kristy Gazes vs. Chad Brown.

hows the chance less than 1% on the last omaha hand? its not
jopiedereal1 1 day ago
@jopiedereal1
25% chance to win 1 hand.
For 2 hands in a row it's 25% * 0.25 = 6.25% chance
For 3 hands it's 6.25 * 0.25 = 1.56%
Times 0.25 again and you end up with 0.39% chance to win all 4 hands in a row.
Statistically he would get 1 in every 4 hands with 25% but remember the question/calculation is to win FOUR in a row with only 25%.
