Does it matter if there's a hole. Wouldn't that mean f(1)=undefined, because the limit must be less than or grater than one. F(X) will never be equal to one.
I studied this at the beginning of the semester but was kind of rusty so to speak with this stuff. After I watched this and now its like I learned this yesterday.
thank you, it only took about five times of hearing what you said but i finally have a grasp of this. Calc is one subject i just cant seem to understand but you helped me out a lot THANKS
@Lutemann, but if there was no dot at the point (1,1), then it would be considered DNE right, and if it was DNE, would that mean that the whole function doesnt exist?
i think this might have saved me from dismally failing my calc quiz! it's so easy, but my teacher moves so fast and talks in weird math language so i never get anything in class :(. but this helped a lot! thank you!!!!!!!
I learn more watching this video than I learned in class.

The limit of f(x) as x approaches to -infinity is -3? I dont think so. I mean since the graph extends without bound doesn't it suppose to exist?

@Ghaiyst
there is a dot at (1,1). that is why f(1) = 1

why is f (1) = 1 did u just add -1 and 2?
DizzyBaby 2 years ago
Because it is. The function is discontinuous at x = 1. The point (1,1) is just hanging there.

Yes, I could use better equipment, but no one one will pay for it. I've got a cheap writing board that's terrible.
Lutemann 4 years ago
Nice, thanks for the explanation..
You could use other programs that allow you to Highlight, draw, and even write stuff..It would be more convenient..
Can anyone please explain why haven't we used the right parabola ?
