Good review. Just two things: with the q, bass and deep switches you can "model" the sound, and about the feeling of the pedal, it has a screw to adjust the resistence. :)
Wow that thing is horrible o couldn't even hear the sweep it was really thin but that was only with the song I'd say there pretty close but Dunlop won
@050296gareth Its a "pressure pad" for your wah, rather than having to stand on your wah to turn it on, it allows you to leave your wah on all the time and just apply slight pressure to turn it on (I believe thats it ^^)
should i get this or the crybaby KH-95(Kirk Hammett)?
i play Metal, some clean pretty much anything but i want a good wah that works well with metal/overdrive sounds :-P if u have any OTHER recommendations id love to know thanks
so it's basically the original morley wah, no? the morely used to get that grainy, synth-like texture at the to end of the sweep, & it was GREAT with driven tones. the morleys used/uses the photo-cell, as well, instead of the pot.
That wowee pedal sounds superb if you ask me... I was about to buy the crybaby 95 just yesterday but I didn't. To me it peaked too high and sounded a bit sharp.
Lot of people on many forums etc talks many bad things about crybaby gcb-95. You wrote that you have "standard crybaby" - means gcb-95? Great tone! I know that amp and guitar is very important, but if this wah is shitty like I heard, it wouldn't sound so well!!!
I dnt knw I've been listening to alot of "wah" solos.....and I think the g-lab wah has got to be my favorite wah yet just because like you said it has that synth-esque-ness to it lol
What's the song at 6:00? It remind me so much of a buckethead song, but I can't for the life of me remember it! I think it may have been on one of the Bucketheadland albums, or maybe Somewhere over the Slaugherhouse?
Ah, okay. It just reminds me so much of some bucket song, but there are so many of them that I think it's pretty much impossible for me to figure it out!
very good review... hoeever does the wah pad only make the existing wah true bypass?? if so the mod to make a jim dunlop wah TP is so cheap and easy... £6 i think it was for my DPDT carling switch and free to install it. are their any other advantages of the wah pad??
hey. The wah pad does have true bypass when the wah is no pressed down but thats just the start. It pad lets you leave your wah on and have true bypass when your feet is off, so when you put it on then its immediately activated. You can also leave your wah in a certain position and then put your feet on the edge of the pad to make the wah in the loop, so you can turn it on and off just by putting it pressure on and off. This has ENDLESS uses. Check out chappers vid on it, it explains better.
I think the Wowee sounded a lot better for the clean stuff and the Crybaby a little more for the heavy distortion. I had a Crybaby for a while and really didn't like it, so now I'm using an old Japanese Shin'ei which is sweet as hell. The mojo doesn't hurt either.
Hey dude! Awesome looking piece of win! Are there any effects pedals that you would consider reviewing such as a Chorus pedal perhaps? Theres so many out there I'm not sure what is a good one to get?
Hi mate, I will review anything that I either own, or like... I don't really use that many pedals though I prefer to use the Amp and Guitar, boxes on the floor get in the way of my monkeying about :-) Check out gearmandude he has some great pedal reviews, tell him I sent you.
nice review, especially the heads on comparison. my impression is that the wah range (if i may call it that) is larger on the crybaby. i have one myself and listening against some recordings i always thought that the crybaby's range is more limited than most of the newer pedals... still don't really understand what the wah pad is for - just an elegant way of putting it into the bypass instead of directly into the amp? what's the benefit of that?
With the Wah Pad, the Wah is on all the time... the second you touch it, it is activated, so no need to switch it on or off! A bit like a Morley Wah, except the Wah Pad is true Bypass.
i agree the g lab sounds smoother and quite nice but is that wat a wah wah is about. i think a wah wah like a baby is supposed to keep you up for days upon end with its noisey wailing. crybaby is the only wah ftw here im afraid

Yea the 60's one looks great, there are massive dinks in it, almost all the paint has come off, but everything in side is stunning, old fashioned point to point type stuff, really sweet piece of kit.
I shall never tell what I had to do to get that lol.
Hi buddy! My Cry Baby is just standard, I have always used them and just love the tone. Vox are great to...it's just another colour really. Anyone who hasn't seen Joe's playing go check him out, he can really shred.
Yea, I used one for years. Like always, just personal preference I suppose. I do like the cry baby. For certain types of music I still prefer the cry baby.
Yeah that is the awesome James a student of mine, he actually edited part of the beginning of this video for me. I am teaching him guitar and music/video editing :-)
Ha ha.. Yeah init, sound mate! I can't tell you much about chavs, but I could tell you about wiltshire country folk. If you have ever seen the film "Hot Fuzz" we all sound like that down my way.
To me the Crybaby has more effect to it but not as much of a range. The Wowee seems to be more pronounced and has more range but less effect. If there was a wah that had the Crybaby tone, with true bypass, was optical, had more range, and was more pronounced *breathes* I would definitely get it
