shes a good rider. she is very bouncy and lets the horse rush through the whole course. while going over the fences she throughs her body on the horse and sticks her butt out to much. but she is a good rider, with age all these little flaws will go away
The fact that she's at Maclay regionals at such a young age isn't what impresses me. Anybody can do that if they have the financial support for it. The part of her ride that impressed me was when her horse spooked, or got squirrely (couldn't exactly tell from behind) to the roll top, but she sat back, rode the crap out of her horse, and got it done. I replayed that jump a few times, and was legitimately impressed.
wow, this 11 YEAR OLD rides better than some of the 15 YEAR OLDS that I see!
she handles the horse's freshness so well, and her position is better than the other riders I see! she's the only rider that I've seen compete in the Mclay so far that doesn't duck over the fence...I'm inspired
wow she's a tall 11 year old!! haha :) i think that in her two point cantering she bounces a little too much.. but she's tons better than me, that's all i can say!! :) great round!
wow, what a wonderful rider! She's so lucky to be able to do this at 11! By the time she's 14 or 15, she might be doing the national Maclay! Her horse looked a little fresh... too bad about the rail! How did she place?
everyone watching this video plz no rude, harsh comments this horse was recently put down for a shattered ankle...we will all miss her, this amazing horse
the girl in the stands well about to sit down at 0:35 looks almost exactly like a girl at the barnn where i ride!!!! her name is rebecca ans that coul possibly b her! kool! :) haha that was really random!
It's not fair for people to say she's not ready just because she's 11. First of all, I know this girl and know that she has literally been riding since she could sit up. She probably has more experience than half of the people showing Maclay anyway. Also, talking to her, you'd never know she was only 11. She's really mature for her age and is totally ready for this. Plus, one of the reasons she's doing Macclay is that she's overqualified herself in everything else because she wins so often!

im sorry.. but i dont find it right that she is only 11! i have been riding for almost 10 year, showing for 9 and im not even doing Maclay yet... if i had the horse i wold be doing it.. but till my family has the $ im not even showing (only schooling horses at shows) like i can see she has talent but she really hasnt been in "this world" long enough to understand how Maclay works.. she was bouncing all around, way to fast, to much hand.. sorry but i think its sooooooo wrong.
Nobodysfool4191, all you know is that she is 11. I think it's wrong that you judge someone you don't even know. It's unfortunate that some of us don't have the money to make it this high in competition, but that's no reason for good riders to stay home! You should know, expirence is what makes a better rider. If you were 11 and you could be in the Maclay, you'd be stupid to say "no, I'm too young".

ok you know what... im am so sick of people saying shit about my OPINION.. ok get a life and get the Fu*** over it... i said what i thought... I NEVER SAID SHE DIDNT HAVE TALENT... she does even though she could work on a few things.. but hay we are human. another thing.. by you saying im stupid and would say no. thats you judging me.. so watch what you say if you are "preaching" it to others.. all i said was that i think she should have had more time to understand how it all works.

ALSO my very good friend who is 13 (14 in a few months) is doing the Maclay and that is 10000000% ok with me. want to know why. her parents are trainers. she did all her pony years and dominated in every class she went in. she has the $ she has the talent. she would have been in it at 10 but her parents wanted her to wait to have more of an understanding of how it all works. thats alll im saying.. she needs time. so snapperpappers get a life and stop being a you know what OPINION miss opinion
Don't take it so personally. I was saying ANYONE who says no to that opportunity would be stupid. I'm not singling you out. If you are sick of people arguing bout your comments and opinion, don't leave them. I'm not saying Rachael's perfect, nobody is, of course she has things to work on.
I'm not saying you're stupid
I don't know you
If you thought that I was harshly criticizing you, I apologize
I still truly believe you learn the best by doing. That's just my opinion.
Ok, look. I know there is no age limit. I was just putting my opinion about the situation. I know when I become a trainer I am not letting kids that young compete at that high of level. I know she is good enough because her aunt would not put her in it less she could do it. I am just saying that idk if she could mentally handle everything. I said my opinion and if you cant handle that people can have a brain and think differently then you, then just shut it.
shes not the first person start the maclay at 11 not even close...its is common no but it has been done. I don't have the money to go to the maclay either or trust me thats where I would be but im not going to sit her and say shes to young cause I think she just proved she is 100% ready to be at this leavel.
i just have one thing to add. you say your ok with your friend doing maclays because she dominated her pony years and what not... how do you know racheal hasn't dont the same?
it might have been best to just keep your opinion to yourself especially since it was degrading.
what i was getting at in that part was how they waited until she was old enough.. i have nothing against racheal i dont know her.. i was just saying my opinion and if you cant handle the fact that other people think differently then others then sorry
"they waited until she was old enough"...there is no "old enough", only "good enough"...and rachael obviously is since she qualified to compete here, regardless of age. she has a perfectly good understanding of what this class is, despite what you thought from your previous comments.
oh,I am not jealous. I am happy with my riding life. Wish I had the money to get the horse I need to compete in the Maclay. My family does not. I have been paying for every lesson. every show. If I had he money she does I would be in the Maclay as of last year. Not jealous just hoping the girl knows that she has major luck on her side to get to compete at this level.A friend of mine is such an amazing rider. She showed once(doesnt have $) and scored a 96. she should get this opp more then anyone.
This horse was very "high" she handled him VERY well under the circumstances.

1. she did dominate in the pony divisions before moving onto horses.
2. she has outgrown ponies obviously, since she fits this horse very well.
3. the problems you see in her riding are minor, and since she's only 11 they can be worked on...duh!
4. she is obviously good enough to have qualified for maclay regionals.
5. there is no age requirement to enter equitation ranks...you are just jealous.
6. and her aunt is her trainer, (since family made it OK for your friend to be good.)
