  • my high school band is playing this tonight (Belfast Area High School)

  • well played overall

  • played this song last year for junior band lol

Great job on it besides the few cacked notes on trumpet! :D

  • nice job, im in 7th grade, we're playing that song lol

  • Great job you guys you played great. we're playing thing for All-County band you had to try out for it though. really excited about playing this song

  • We're playing this song for All-County band and i really like it although we haven't had a practice as a band yet.

  • we are playing this song and i likes it alot

  • you have an amazing full sound for how small you guys are. good job.

  • Dam i remember i was in 7th grade 1st year of trumpet, then i was asked to join advance senior band, and i had to play this song for the school concert, i was trumpet #3 in november then trumpet 1 by december, and i had only played trumpet in october dam lol i still know the song and i am in 10th gade headed to 11th grade and i havent had music since 7th grade

  • My band in playing this in middle school. We suck compared to this band.

  • my middle school band played this.... and the band im in is played this for festbal(ik i spelled it wrong) and we sounded better than this.... im in 7th grade.....

  • were playing too Tonawanda high school kicks everybodies ass

  • we have 5 trumpets, 5 flutes, 6 clarinets (one had to get knee surgery so shes been gone the whole school year almost) 1 piccilo, 1 bass clarinet, 1 bassoon, 1 bari sax, 3 tenors, like 7 saxaphones, 3 trombones, one ufonium (i spelled that wrong) 4 percussionists

  • awesome sound,,, we are going to learn to play this,, I'm a first clarinet

Thanks for posting this cuz now i have an idea on what its going oto sound like

  • We have five tubas and this has a fun tuba part. If the other two would play we might have had a good balance and not got a 3 an state. Go tubas.

  • This song is a fun to play, but what sucks is my band only has one trombone(me), a baritone and two bass clarinets which is pretty depressing compared to my bands 12 trumpets. maybe some of them will agree to play trombone. XD

  • @TheFrozzon we have three, i know what you mean, i play the baritone and we also have two bass clarinets. it's sad when we have to move clarinet people to trombone parts in marching band. I think in all bands they need a bigger bass section. they have too many trumpets, saxes and flutes.

  • our band has around 40 people very balanced

4 flutes, 4 saxes, 6 trumpets, 6 clarinets, 2 tubas a few trombones our band sounds great on this song

  • hahaha my friend and i decided that this song is perfect for a sailing montage haha. we're playing it soon, but the majority of our band is saxes (there's like 23 people and like 15 play sax) so most of them have to not even play. i know we have a really small band but we're pretty good, you were great too

  • my middle school wind ensemble is gonna play this (i think we sound better because we have 100+ people) (south pointe middle school diamond bar)

  • remember this: bigger size doesn't mean better sound. My High School band won 1st place in many competitions in the past 4 years with only 46 people.

  • @seanjohn3344 (agree with ctmajka) often big ensembles (from experience) can sound horrible and out of the conductors control.

  • there low brass is good imo. idk, throughout my school music "career" ive always been with bands thats low brass just sucked.

  • hey, my high school is gonna play this tonight, and there is only 12 people (max!), but the good side is that everyone is pretty good at what they do, especially the lone trumpeter (me!).

you guys sound great, but the trumpets need to reach those high notes, man!

otherwise, very full-sounding, and very sharp for your size! good job, mates

  • my school dan savage niddle school has about 130 people in 7-8 grade and mostly percussion and clarinet. i have concert in a week and i will post a vid im a 1st trumpet and its pretty cool.

  • that a small ass band

HMS can have this band for supper.....

all those people playing is like the clarinet seccion

XD they sound really good though

  • i like he flute part its beast=)

  • Super cool guys, my middle school band played this...about 12 years ago... wow memories! : )

  • we played this song at my school. Our band had 86 people in it we were loud and good! And i like this song.

  • my band has like 120-130 people AND TO MANY SAXES. it's crazy

  • there are never too many saxes.

  • Is it just me or does this sound like the pokemon song?

  • yeah man, tenor sax at my school was just saying the same

  • where is the french horn?

  • There is no french horn.

  • Comment removed

  • Umm...great?

  • How come there's no oboe? :[

  • commonly schools won't have more difficult or obscure instruments in their bands, such as oboe, english horn, bassoon, alto clarinet, sometimes even the french horn is excluded

  • well, our school population is small, and we have all instruments

  • There's an oboe now, but you have to understand that when this guy came to the school there was only 18 epople in band because the previous teacher sucked. Now it's up to 35 kids. When this was made there were only 24. So Yeah. You move people to what their comfortable with...not what you need.

  • yeah, my school's about the same, when the band is really shitty and small, generally they need to fill out more mainstream instruments first

  • i just got the music for this yesterday for our city honor band...unfortunately, i have to play 2nd trumpet because i dont have "seniority" since im a junior...

    Bull!!!

  • ha we play this waaaaay better, go BHSA!!!

  • =] WIN

  • We play that much better!!!

Haha, wir habn´s eben drauf im Gegensatz zu euch!!!

You trumpets aren´t good!-Eure Trompeten sind nicht gut!!!

The rest is o.k. but not good

  • i really thought it was good! at least they play better then our trumpets! i thought the music was beautiful!

  • your trumpets aren't good.... YOU'RE ok but not good

  • that was AMAZING! our band is playing that now. i play the sax and the sax's in your band ROCK! the trumpets did way better than ours did!

  • dude thats not good the trumpets arent playing good. when it comes to notes over the G they cant play it without cracking eww =(

  • There's one trumpet you can hear that does pretty well.

  • .... omg... this band sucks!!! my junior high is better!!! i play trumpet and i can play better than them... the chimes are off a measure the ENTIRE SONG!!! annnoooying!!!

  • That's song was alright the snare drum and suspended cymbal messed up the song a little bit. For example in the beginning the cymbal was late.

  • Wow! Well played guys! I play bass clarinet and that's the song we're playing for concert band!

  • wth r the trumpeters doing?

  • awe thats lame no f horn:)

thats what i play, and thats the song we are doing for concert season this year along with claxon and spitfire:)

this is a pretty small band, but its really great!

  • idk how long its been since my last comment, but after seeing this again, i still would do that hot blonde mostly seen at 2:32

  • it could have been alot better, about measure 13 the brass should have dropped the sound so you could hear the melodic line more easily, which would be flutes and clarinets. its like your have a "play as loud as you can fest" its suposed to layer on to it. and the accenting could have been better

  • i don't hear the french horns! u guys have horns???...and trumpes are falling

  • No french horns...or trombones.

  • trumpett messedd up on thee intro. andd at 1:05 im nott suree whoo. andd likee 1:45 trumpetsss. 2:05 the pacee is too fastt. theee guysss playinggg tenorrr saxx aree hott. :P 2:40 - 2:50 trumpetss... 3:13 trumpett squeall. :P 3:28 tempo is WAYY TOOOO FASTT. im waitingg forr theee trumpettt solooo ! it'ss likee my favoriteee parttt evenn thoughh i playy barii saxx. ahahahh theyy squealedd againn :P i'm playingg thiss thiss yearr ! good job for a small bandd :P
  • th-th-th-thats all folks!

  • wow. XD It sounds like you're studdering when you type. XD

    Do you play the trumpet?

  • Never mind...Bari.

  • whyy doo uu hhaave to doublee alll yourrr lettersss

  • that was really good for the size of the band and the instrumentation. the trumpets sounded ok. they werent that terrible. you could make out what they were trying to play. overall that was good. just keep improving. and the sax section is awesome. however i heard no horns

  • You need some more variety. Tuba, baritone, French horn, some more pitches of saxophone all make this piece sound better. Nice tempo, though.

  • i agree. my band is small but we have a lot of lower instruments. baritone, tuba, trombone. but sadly no french horn to bring out a nice warm pitch.

  • Weak trumpets.

  • u have little kine people in dis class i have 100 in my class

  • i played this song at my middle school graduation

    its easy but pretty good

but its too bad alot of swearingen music has the same rhythm

  • The music to this was really easy, and stop with the trumpets everyone knows that without the proper room everything sounds horrible. Only with the proper room can you make a piece sound truly remarkable. P.S. they had this song in honor band at my school the music was easy. I didn't have a recording device to send in my tryout. Oh well I got best musician award anyway Yes I am showing off

  • The trumpets were awfull! I played this piece when I was in year six! I played first clarinet

  • I played this song in middle school for bass clarinet. I think it's a horrible song, sure its catchy but its repetitive and has a horrible melody and a lot of cliches.

  • my middle school played this

  • im playing this song this year..i must say for the bass clarinet is boring but every other part is awesome..not bad but the timing is kinda off

  • I've played this piece well over one hundred times, and it never ceases to amaze me that a small band of this size can play it so well. However, there are some problem areas. The snares are off in a few parts. Your sax player deserves a great big award; very well played. Trumpets are a little out of whack almost every time they play. I would probably give you an 8 out of 10 if I had to.

  • Wow, they sound pretty good. Iplaying this song for my graduation this year on clarinet. The first part is a little two easy. It sure is fun though. I played it a few years ago at a bit faster tempo than this. we are playing it slower this year. The band that I am in in a bit larger, and I can agree that the balance in sound it totally messed up. But, Good Job!

  • AWESOME SAX.

I hope I can play like that soon.

I'm serious,I almost started drooling they sounded SO GOOD.

  • this is cool

  • We're playing this song this year, I have mallets...I have to play both the bells and the chimes...well what else is new

  • Nice, well played by a band of that size. The trumpets got a lil outta whack in some places, but overall good. I play timpani for my band for this song. The timpanos are a lil bit off though. They sound too low, especially in the percusion solo around the 4 minute mark. We are playing this for a band festival in disney land in april/may, with about 30 kids. Anyways, great job.

  • hey man as is my band....we wont be in the same classification though we have about 200 kids so

  • hey look at how small the band is!!! its not their fault the balance is messed up!! the trumpets do need to lay off a little cuz just naturally they play louder, but also the clarinets need to play louder. but everything else sounds good!! the tone is great n theres actually dynamics! ppl really appriciate tht. esspecially judges. good job guys.

  • Oh, we played this last year, I played Timpanis, I love the section where the Trumpets and Timpanis just play off each other, awesome.

  • we are doing this song at my high school.i play calarinet. i really like this song. i like james swearingens music.

  • also. i dont see and trombones and the snare.... horrible

  • You don't hear the snare? It's like playing thru the whole song. We don't have any trombones, so we gave the trombone part to the Euphoniums.

  • Walt Clark Middle School by the way

  • were playin this in our eighth grade band.

i play snare. its the most annoying part ever cuz its repetitive.

  • i play the baritone xD

  • good job :)

I play clarinet, were playing this for our middle school concert

its such a cool song :)

  • meh too

creepy that its the same... but dis song is sooo kewl

  • ur trumpets should have practiced that ALOT more. and u should have at least recruted a trombone from someone. u cant really do the song without one

  • Yeah we were tired & pitch accuracy was going. we gave a Euphonium the trombone part. We were in a position where we couldn't switch anyone because it would've thrown another section out of whack.

  • nice, how many members are in your band?

  • Right here we had 19...but now our band has roughly 30.

  • Oh, never mind...no trombones at all, I didn't see that sorry

  • Where are are the 1st trombones at 3:01?

  • i played this song last year on bass clarinet, the bass part is soooo boring but the melody is sweet

  • anyone got a video foe Bravada Espirit ?

  • i loved playing this song in band. i also love the light eternal.

  • argh...I got over Swearingen's pieces years ago. I found they're pretty cheesy. prefer Robert Sheldon's pieces - grand and majestic.

  • Swearingen is okay, but I think Robert W. Smith & Leroy Anderson tie as some of the best composers (aside from Sousa(sp?))

  • i agree about robert w. smith he's amazing

  • I love playing this song.

  • I played the snare drum when my high school did this piece, way too many years ago.

  • and also in measure 136 the trumpets triumphed you all you could hear was them and they are suppose to play that loud and they did good but yall did not do so good as a entire band just giving you my advice and opinion thanks

  • Like i'm so sorry to tell you this but yall really suck dude i play clarinet and they

weren't loud enough you guys aloud the trumpets and the triangle to take over and it didn't sound good and i also played this at

the same time with my clarinet and i'm one person and i sounded much better and i'm not trying to like criticize you guys but i mean it would of sounded better if the clarinets played louder and some of them but not all played in a higher octave

  • Wow; you're not trying to criticize, but look at all these criticisms you have in this post! For the record, playing louder does not mean you sound better. If the clarinets can't keep up with the trumpets sounds, the trumpets need to learn to back off a bit since they are crippling the balance of the band. The music is written with a lot of low parts of the clarinet, so playing them up an octave would sound bad. I know; I played this song two years ago. It's clear that you know nothing about it.

  • Trumpets could have played better. Sound fine but ... umm ya trumpets.

  • we didn't get enough warm-up time beforehand. People had to show up late. T~T

  • dont make excuses

  • ...Excuses about what?

  • i have first part trumpet

  • We're learning this song this year. It's so cool! I play clarinet. We haven't got even halway through the song though because our trumpets are lousy players!

  • im first trombone

  • Yes, be we are really good

  • Thats it: you have like no trombones: Our symphonic Band has like 70-80 kids

  • JESUS!

    ...That's a lot!

    lol

  • Tight guys, we played this song in 6 grade; you have not that many players

  • nope, only 23

but this year we now have 34! YAY!

  • the snare is a bit slow on some parts as well

  • OMG this was my favorite song in band last year... good job ^^ thanx soooo much for posting!

  • i played this song and i was great at it =)

  • we played this for our spring concert!!

  • Is this your school btw?

  • Yeah This is my school. I'm 1st trumpet.

  • good effort.- trumpet line needs to work on tone and higher registers... i think i might have heard a few wrong notes in there too :( but good effort overall!! If you happen to have the soundtrack or copy of this song i would greatly apprechiate it if you could send it to me. thanks =)

  • Unfortunately I can't find any recordings of this song....sad really.

  • ピッチ悪い。

    トランペット音外し過ぎ

  • トロンボーンがいないことに不満。

  • yeah i will as soon as my friend gives me the video back

  • omg, i sry to say this but it wasnt all that good. we played this song for a heritage festival in Seattle, WA this year, and this song saved us from losing it, we got 3rd place. im in a high school band and this song still proved challenged especially in the slower parts (ie saxophone and clarinet) we still have those same problems. the song needs more charisma and there r intonation problems w/ trumpets. good try at it and u guys did good, but i expected it better. =]

  • I sightread this on my newest mastered instrument, the Bass Clarinet (Okay, not mastered :P I fucked up on Pacifica). I believe we played this during one class in grade 9, but it's a whole different matter when you're playing a completely different instrument. It's fun to play the rhythm part.

  • at measure 11 the bari sax sounds kind of weird.. like hes not playing it right or soemthing iono.

I also play this piece in my high school band on bari sax =D

  • othe school bari is messed up so she has to lip the note down alot...that's why it sounded weird.

  • oh i see...

  • I played Invicta with the 1st Trombone part my freshman year and that was hell. I really doubt a 7th grader can play Grade 3 music without some kind of trouble.

  • haha....we don't have any trombones in our band, & judging from the 1st trumpet part that i played (that's me in the back row with the hair lol) he's gonna have alot of trouble tward the end with those 8 straight measures of G right above the stave. In fact, i'm first chair, & me and the second chair trumpet handed off to eachother every 2 measures cuz we couldn't make it all the way thru.

  • will be a good may of the century for me

  • well it on may 24 i can`t wait either i been practicing for this and i going to audition to julliard on may 19 and call back is the 21 of may

  • sooo...r u gonna post the video or what?

  • So r u gonna post the video of you guys playing Invicta or what? Considering you said you're in 7th grade yet your profile says you're 27, I doubt you are.

  • hard to believe but true cuz it my first yeah me and my two friend are playing this song with an advance band at first it was hard but now it easy and i play from trumpet sheet music #1 and it has high notes

imma post my video of us playing it hope you watch it

  • Will do...I can't wait!

  • the trumpet messed up (i bet when i play invicta on may 24 i won`t mees up im a trumpet playing with only 6 month of practice and im a seventh grade!!!) other than that it great!!!!!!!

  • So you're saying you've only been playing the trumpet for 6 mos, and you're already playing this song and you won't mess up? no offence, but that's kinda hard to believe.

  • Invicta is not a piece for a Gr. 7 band or a Gr. 7 player, i dont really believe you either

  • Música maravilhosaaaa!

    Necessita de uma dedicação minuciosa.

    ;D

  • nope stop lieing

  • ...?

  • Yea.. I agree with the first comment..

Don't get me wrong, it was good...

Just needed more clarient (trust me.. im a clarinet playing and my section was always getting harped at about this song...)..

    But good job =D

  • I'd agree with you guys, but we only have 3 clarinets. Now that's no excuse for the flutes to be louder than them, but I mean, considering there are 22 other kids playing, the clarinets were overpowered.

  • sounds good. I was in the SHS band when Mrs. Cell was there. I haven't been home in years, is Mr. Hickey still there?

  • Yup...he's a sub now.

  • I played this when I was in the SHS band!! Was one of my favorites!!!

  • Trumpet missed a note in the beginning.

    More clarinet

    (I've payed the piece)
