I'm amazed the tarantula won this being that it's venom is much weaker than the fer de lance. It must have struck multiple times and avoided being bitten. I'm sure there was quite a bit of time between the confrontation and death of the snake. Shows like this always leave out information, but oh well the footage was excellent.

Not quite. The tarantula's venom is much weaker when compared to the fer-de-lance's to humans. I don't think that there is any information on tarantula venom's effects on snakes but I can imagine that it has a much more potent effect on the snake than us. A widely known example of the disparity of venom's toxicity between species is the Sydney funnel web spider. The funnel web is deadly to humans but harmless to dogs and cats. It seems that Tarantula venom does not affect the heart of its prey items as quickly as other tissues, so the heart stays beating and assists in circulation the venom throughout the victims body.
