Based on what evidence? Ice circles are made with under water currents and whirlpools.

um... aren't there whirlpools in streams and creeks? wouldn't the force of water in the whirlpool rip through the thin layer of ice while more ice forms causing a perfect circle? it still looks cool though...

The circular movement of water is sufficient enough to carve perfect shapes in the ice cap.
I am a true believer of crop circles, although I doubt this one was caused by alien technology :o)
