Can you also make review on the new Gretch G5135 Corvette with the Megatron pickups? I've been checking it out online and alot of blogs and reviews say good things about the guitar.
damn i love gretsch solid bodies, got my eye on a pro jet, don't know if they still make the 'vette. it's like a warped sg junior and id snap one up straight away. but since fender now own gretsch its an unlikely thing that if its not still in production we will ever see a reissued 'vette, or be able to afford one now unless its made electromatic.
You're absolutely right. I realized that pretty much the second after I posted the original comment, but I wasn't sure how to delete the comment at the time. Anyway, my bad.
@TheJeephistorian I'm high and it's way obvious this guy isn't nicholas cage. I want to know what the 20 people that voted on your comment were high on because I don't understand how they could agree with your comment.
@Igamikun It is extremely obvious. The comment was sarcastic, and is making fun of the guitarist's resemblance to the actor Nicolas Cage. You're welcome.
I can see better amps in the background!!!!! Stop using the stupid modeling amp. Also why with the ridiculous audio settings? these guys are some of the worst reviews on youtube.
I've always wanted one of these. $700 doesn't come easy though, not when you're tight on cash because you just bought a huge Gretsch Drum set and some cymbals. Maybe someday...
@crowman131 these are great guitars, sounds alot like a tele with but warmer and not quite as loud, great feeling neck and lightwieght guitar, get some jangle out of it with tubes running clean, kinda ricenbacker sound too, has the round bubbly twang of grestch jet firebird too
@fraterlucifer888 The best thing about them is NO BINDING!! No issues with the binding coming off/deteriorating. I have a 65' that I had to replace the pickguard because it just started to melt away. They are great guitars though. Very easy to play, very little fretboard radius. Another cool thing is that they STAY IN TUNE!!
@tatsandteles no doubt mine was under my grandfathers bed for about 30yrs,the pickguard crystalized and disentegrated into practicaly dust, and the p/u had about an inch of greenish white corosion on it that looked like from the battery cables from an old dodge dart ,and had one of those weird burn vibratos on it with 30+yr old flatwounds and it crumbled too,but the neck is fine and the p/u worked so with a new pickguard and tailpiece its a screamer
I have a 65. I had my luthier build me a base with an ABR-1 bridge on it, makes a very BIG difference on the tuning issues up the neck. NO fretboard radius, you can fly on it if you get used to the tiny frets. Sounds great when you run it through a TC Jauernig Luxury Drive booster or any clean boost, followed by a nice analog delay. Country, Rockablilly, Rock. Great guitars to be had for under a grand.
The peppermint twist was red with a red/white stripe pickguard. The white was the princess model. Light blue and green aren't PINK. They also made some silver and god sparkle versions called "Duke" Corvettes. No pink though...you fail. Thanks for playing. We have a home version of our game Carol, our lovely assistant, has for you on your way out....
The silver and gold sparkles...according to "Duke" Kramer in quite a few interviews were never officially "Duke" models...some folks have called them that over the years...they were a special order for a music distributor on the east coast...you could get a Gretsch in ANY color...like I said check the 62 Gretsch catalog...
You point to a dot on the back. That' s not a place where someone tried to install a strap button as you mention. It's actually a wooden dowel that inserts through the body into the neck for added strength. Over time the wood will expand and contract under the finish in different ways and the peg will be revealed. Some of those were also screws with a wooden plug installed over a countersunk hole.
ive got a modern one of these and it kicks ass/especially as it now has an emg81 in it and the strings go through the body increasing the sustain tenfold and losing the crappy bigsby
absolute agree, I just got mine 4 month ago, and fuck, this corvette it's a real mamma, the body is solid and the sustain is as the fat heavy gibson les paul deluxe from 70s
Wow, good to know that any snarky witticism that I make will be snapped up and used for terrible comebacks that I'm sure would make a six year old laugh. You could've just held your tongue and not inserted your EXTREMELY necessary (note: the sarcasm is spread pretty thick here) opinion about a genre of music.
Sure Jazz Fusion isn't obscure, but I'd say it's generally more unknown than death metal. I'd also say that bragging about listening to said genre makes you feel oh so good. Elitist Troll.
or Steve Reich, two of the best composers of the 20th century, they don't compose music in a strictly musical way, instead they made music that sounded good to them,
you may have noticed Old people complain about metal as an annoying whine, or young people call classical a boring drone, for example, know why that it, MUSIC is a point of view to the individual, id advise you learnt that sooner rather than later.
Alright, what is music then Mr. Elitist Prick? I hope it's okay if I call you that. I'd say it's a befitting title to give to anyone who is so ignorant and closed minded as to dismiss other people's music as "not real". You make me laugh, "it's a shame jazz fusion is so underrated". You sound like a cunt I know who thinks he's better than everyone who thinks he's better than other people simply because he listens to little-known artists and obscure genres. tl;dr: Fuck off.
Guthrie has been noted by a few magazines as "The World's Best Guitar Player". He can literally play anything, amazing guitarist. Great instructor as well.
actually thats kind of closed minded, pop means popular, which means wider appeal or having an influence on popular culture. The beatles were pop, the stones were pop, led zeppelin was pop...all those bands wrote pop songs. Undeniably. Those groups greatly affected youth of the time. as did anything afterward be it soundgarden or nirvana, tupac or the fuckin n'sync or what have you. There is music for everyone and for every kind of mood. Music speaks to everyone.
horrible. tune it first. and play something decent. also, playing it through a line 6 amp shows us nothing of how it sounds. Play it through a tube amp of the same period.
actually none of those, I listen to real rock, not pop punk crap, to me, linking park is as shitty as jonas brothers ... have you ever heard of Led Zeppelin, Cream, Free, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Freddie King, Black Sabbath, Rush, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc ??

Jason Lee ought to be doing ALL the guitar reviews, this guy doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. I'm a beginner myself but I can tell when someone doesn't know what the hell they're talking about.
This was supposed to be gretsch's answer tovthe gibson les paul junior...apparently didnt work out too well this guitar only stayed around for a couple years from about '61 to maybe '64. The first one had a peppermint twist finish...you guys have to see the gretsch princess which is supposed to be the 'female' model of this...its pretty awesome actually even more rare too.
i think most of the tone and sounds you are getting are coming from the line 6 amp. I mean if you demo a guitar you shouldn't play it with an amp that was designed to sound like other famous tones

This was supposed to be gretsch's answer tovthe gibson les paul junior...apparently didnt work out too well this guitar only stayed around for a couple years from about '61 to maybe '64. The first one had a peppermint twist finish...you guys have to see the gretsch princess which is supposed to be the 'female' model of this...its pretty awesome actually even more rare too.

this guitar is the gretsch from hell :D
reminds me of an SG

i think most of the tone and sounds you are getting are coming from the line 6 amp. I mean if you demo a guitar you shouldn't play it with an amp that was designed to sound like other famous tones

Wow, w/ distortion it's kinda like Niravana sound to me...

That's why you go with the two pickup model that was introduced in '65.
